  • BREAKING: Garba Shehu must go — Aisha Buhari declares war on Buhari’s spokesperson [Full Statement]

Outspoken First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari has cautioned Shehu Garba, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Aisha Buhari expressed her concern in a statement made available to TheNewsGuru(TNG) on Wednesday, which reads:

“Nigeria’s development is hinged on the ability of public officials to execute their mandates professionally, and to be shining examples in their various areas of endeavor. It is not a good sign when officials abandoned their responsibility and start clutching at straws.

As spokesperson of the President, he has the onerous responsibility of managing the image of the President and all the good works that he is executing in the country.

“Rather than face this responsibility squarely, he has shifted his loyalty from the President to others who have no stake in the compact that the President signed with Nigerians on May 29, 2015 and 2019.
To make matters worse, Mr. Shehu has presented himself to these people as a willing tool and executioner of their antics, from the corridors of power even to the level of interfering with the family affairs of the President. This should not be so.

The blatant meddling in the affairs of a First Lady of a country is a continuation of the prodigal actions of those that he serves.

“We all remember that the chief proponent appropriated to himself and his family a part of the Presidential Villa, where he stayed for almost 4 years and when the time came for him to leave, he orchestrated and invaded my family’s privacy through a video circulated by Mamman’s Daughter, Fatima, the public was given the impression that on arrival into the country I was locked out of the villa by Mr. President.

Garba Shehu as Villa Spokesperson, knew the truth and had the responsibility to set the records straight, but because his allegiance is somewhere else and his loyalty misplaced, he deliberately refused to clear the air and speak for the President who appointed him in the first place.

“Consequently, his action has shown a complete breakdown of trust between the First Family and him.
Mr. Shehu was privy and part of the plan and it’s execution and he was shocked when he realized that I had publicized my return to Nigeria on October 12, 2019 and cleared the air on the many rumors that took over social media, a job he was supposed to do but kept mute to cause more confusion and instability for his Principal and his family.

Garba then, vented his anger on the National Television Authority (NTA) Management insisting that the media crew to my office must be sacked.

He succeeded in getting them suspended for doing their job. I had to intervene to save the innocent staff from losing their means of livelihood by involving the Department of State Services (DSS) in order to ascertain roles played by key actors in the saga.

“It is at this late hour that I recall, sadly, that it was the same Garba Shehu who claimed that the government will not allow office of the First Lady to run. He was later to confirm to one of my aides that he was instructed to say so by Mamman Daura and not the President.

This antic attracted the anger of Nigerian women. He didn’t realize the fact that First Lady’s office is a tradition which has become an institution.
Today, even without a budget, I am able run my humanitarian programmes.

In saner climes, Garba Shehu would have resigned immediately after going beyond his boundaries and powers.

GARBA SHEHU NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR WILL NO LONGER BE TOLERATED.

The latest of his antics was to wage a war on the first family through an orchestrated media campaign of calumny by sponsoring pseudo accounts to write and defame my children and myself.

“Based on Garba Shehu’s misguided sense of loyalty and inability to stay true and loyal to one person or group, it has become apparent that all trust has broken down between him and my family due to the many embarrassments he has caused the Presidency and the first family.

We all have families to consider in our actions and therefore it is in the best interest of all concerned for Garba Shehu to take the advice of the authority, given to him sometimes in the first week of November, 2019”.

  • Malnourished Nigerian kids similar to those in war-torn nations(Video)

Equating the malnutrition afflicting many Nigerian children to what normally obtains in war-torn countries, First Lady Aisha Buhari, flagged up a campaign on Thursday to address the problem.

In a video message on her Instagram account, Aisha called on stakeholders, especially parents, to ensure their children eat nutritious food to nurture their body system to good health.

And she said they did not need to break the bank to do so, but only need to give them the right mix of food.

“Research has shown that one in every three children below the age of five in Nigeria suffered at least one form of malnutrition.

”Giving our children the right combination of food they need for proper mental and physical growth is a very important national duty that we all must perform.

”Let us help to reduce all forms of malnutrition. Let us show interest in the combination of food our children eat. Join me to fight malnutrition in children,” she said.

Aisha is flagging up the campaign under her Future Assured Programme.

Viral video: How Mamman Daura’s family continually denied me access to villa apartment – Aisha Buhari

Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has accused Mamman Daura’s family of denying her access to an apartment at the presidential villa.

Mrs. Buhari has been drawn in a long-battle with Mamman Daura, her husband’s nephew, who lives in the Villa with the First family.

Last weekend, a video of the President’s wife reacting angrily to being denied access to her apartment, went viral.

Fatima, daughter of Daura, who recorded the video, accused the First Lady of attacking her family violently.

Mrs. Buhari has however explained in an interview with BBC Hausa why she reacted angrily in the video.

She said it was because she was denied access to parts of the villa by Daura and his family.

She accused Fatima of recording the video while mocking her during her angry reaction

“I was the one in that video and this person you see standing at my back are my security personnel,” Mrs. Buhari began.

“It was Fatima, the daughter of Mamman Daura that shot the video in front of my security and everybody there. She was actually recording the whole thing right in front of me and was laughing and mocking me.

“They did that because my husband sacked them from the house. He told them to get all their belongings and leave the house for my son (Yusuf) to occupy.

“I left them and wanted to get to one of the rooms but they prevented me from getting through. I left them and took another way yet I met the store locked.”

  • Aisha vs Mamman Daura: Stand up for your wife, Apostle Suleman tells Buhari

Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministry has reacted to the conflict between the First Lady, Aisha Buhari and the family of President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, Mamman Daura.

Suleman called on President Muhammadu Buhari to defend his wife and make her his priority.

In a tweet, the clergyman wrote: “I am praying for the president’s wife, just read an interview she granted and felt sad. I plead with @MBuhari to stand up for his wife and make her priority..all these cabals around him are there because of what they want..his wife is his constituency..power comes and goes.”

Recall that while Aisha Buhari was out of the country, a video had surfaced online showing her being locked out of a room in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Upon her return, she confirmed the authenticity of the video, saying that the family of Daura had prevented her from accessing a room in the Villa.

But Fatima dismissed Aisha’s claim, saying the wife of the President attacked and rained insults on her.

Fatima also went ahead to give full details of what transpired between her and the wife of the President that led to the footage.

  • Aisha Buhari finally speaks on Buhari’s alleged plan to take second wife

FIRST Lady Aisha Buhari on Sunday said it was not her duty to confirm or deny the rumour that her husband President Muhammadu Buhari wanted a second wife.

She told BBC Hausa that the responsibility to confirm or deny the rumour was that of those involved in the matter.

She said: “He (Buhari) is the person rumoured to be planning a marriage, not Aisha Buhari. They (those concerned) are supposed to come out and clear the air.”

The first lady denied a rumour that she left her husband because she did not agree with his plan take a second wife.

She called for urgent action against the menace of fake news.

The social media was abuzz last Thursday with news that President Buhari was to get married to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq.

Farouq, meanwhile, was in New York for a United Nations (UN) Campaign Against Poverty event.

Last Friday’s raka’at prayer at the Aso Rock Mosque witnessed a seemingly unprecedented number of curious worshippers who wanted to confirm the viral story about a marriage that never happened.

Mrs Buhari, who addressed journalists shortly after arriving in Nigeria from the United Kingdom, said she visited her children and attended to her health while away.

She said: “It has been a tradition for us. For like 20 to 27 years now, if our children are on holiday, we spend it with them.

“I never abandon my children and last year, I went to Spain and spent two months with Zahra when she gave birth.
“While on holiday in the U.K, I fell sick; so, I stayed back to see a doctor who advised me to stay back to attend to my health.

“From the U.K, I travelled to Saudi Arabia for Hajj and returned to England on doctor’s advice. They also advised that I should slow down my activities.”

She recalled that due to fake news, she received calls from people who sought to confirm whether her husband was dead when he was sick.

She said: “The genesis of this fake news started when my husband fell sick and perpetrators of this act were showing fake ambulance, hospital and dead body, suggesting that my husband was dead.

“That time, I received so many calls from other first ladies and presidents of other countries to confirm; so I called the attention of Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and the National Orientation Agency.

“Fake news will lead this country to something else if actions are not taken with immediate effect.”

Mrs Buhari said she was ready to continue her work with women and children
