Buhari goes tough on Aisha, asks her to show evidence of cabals in his government

President Muhammadu Buhari has demanded evidence from his wife who claims that his government is being run by a cabal.

He made this demand in an interview with Voice of America, Hausa.

The President’s wife, Aisha Buhari, during an interview with British Broadcasting Service, Hausa, had first alleged that her husband was being controlled by a cabal.

She had said, “The President does not know 45 out of 50 of the people he appointed and I don’t know them either, despite being his wife of 27 years. Some people are sitting down in their homes folding their arms only for them to be called to come and head an agency or a ministerial position.”

She had threatened not to vote for him if things continued that way.

The President had dismissed that statement by saying that his wife belonged in the kitchen and also in the “other room.”

However, during a summit organised for women by a political group in Abuja recently, Aisha again alleged that two powerful men were holding her husband’s government hostage.

During the VOA chat, a clip of which was posted by a journalist on Twitter, the interviewer asked Buhari to formally respond to his wife’s allegations.

That’s her business and it shows I am a true democrat by allowing everybody to have an opinion.

I challenge those alleging to show single evidence,” the President countered.

  • Buhari has become Nigeria’s “Clown-In-Chief” – Aisha Yesufu

Aisha Yesufu, co-convener of BringBackOurGirls, BBOG, advocacy group has said President Muhammadu Buhari should sit-up and be the “Commander-In-Chief” he was elected to be.

She said this while reacting to a statement by former Defence Minister, Gen. T.Y. Danjuma, where he asked Nigerians to defend themselves against what he termed “ethnic cleansing.”

Danjuma, who spoke over the weekend gave the advice while reacting to killings by herdsmen across the country.

Reacting to Danjuma’s advice, Yesufu stressed that Buhari has turned himself into “a clown-In-Chief.”

She wrote: “Dear President Muhammadu Buhari, now that your fellow General has spoken would you now sit up and be the Commander-In-Chief you are supposed to be and not the Clown-In-Chief you have turned yourself into?

“Buhari, do you want to lead us to another civil war? When government is not forthcoming on its primary responsibility which is the protection of lives and properties, people are forced to take up the responsibility and that can lead to chaos.”

  • Updated :’I did not receive any SUV gift from IGP,’ Aisha Buhari denies Misau’s claim

Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has denied claims that she received two Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) from the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

Aisha on Thursday said there was no truth in the claim that he received some vehicles from the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris.
The lawmaker representing the Bauchi Central Senatorial District, Isa Misau, had on Wednesday alleged that Idris gave two Sports Utility Vehicles to Mrs. Buhari.

While appearing before the Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Investigation of Various Allegations Levelled Against the Police, the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission, Misau said details of how Idris gave Mrs. Buhari the two SUV were contained in the documents the police boss submitted to court in the suit instituted against him by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami, on behalf of the Federal Government.

He said, “I still have some contract papers that the IG himself submitted to the court, where the First Lady through her aide-de-camp requested a Toyota Hiace and a Sienna jeep. The same day that the ADC wrote, the IG minuted that she should be given two jeeps. And it is not part of the appropriation. If you look at the appropriation, there is nowhere they said the First Lady should be given two jeeps.”

But Mrs. Buhari in a statement by her Director of Information, Suleiman Haruna, said there was no truth in the allegation.
The statement read, “Our attention has been drawn to the news being widely circulated, and attributed to a member of the Senate, that two SUVs from the Inspector-General of Police were given to the Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari personally.
“The Wife of the President wants to make it clear that since the assumption of office of her husband as President of Nigeria, she did not receive these mentioned vehicles.
“Furthermore, the vehicles she is still using belong to the family and were the ones used during the campaign for 2015 elections including the one for her entourage.”

Misau made the allegation when he appeared before the Senate ad hoc committee investigating the allegations he made against Idris, the Police and the Police Service Commission.
