Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi delves into music, releases debut single

Fulham star Alex Iwobi has explained the inspiration behind his debut single, “Don’t Shoot.” The Nigerian international recently released the song with Ajax’s Chuba Akpom and Ramsgate’s Medy Elito.

The former Arsenal midfielder said the track’s lyrics are meant to discourage youth violence in London and inspire young people to pursue positive goals.

“Growing up in London, there is a lot of criminal activity, things that you don’t want to see or hear. With our powers, we are trying to say, don’t do that, channel it into something else,” Iwobi told the Evening Standard.

“Whether it is football or music, anything that keeps you on the straight path is what we are trying to show everyone. I have always loved music; I am not going to lie, but in terms of releasing a song, I never thought [that would happen]. It was just something where my friends said: ‘The music is actually decent; why don’t you release it?’ So, we thought, let’s release it at the right time and not get distracted, because the main focus will always be football.

“But at the same time, I am more than just a footballer. I am human, like everyone else,” he added.

The Nigerian is expected lead the Fulham’s midfield next season in the English Premier League.

Comedian AY pleads with Nigerians to stop criticizing Alex Iwobi

Nigerian Actor and comedian AY Makun has pleaded with Nigerians to stop criticizing super Eagles star  Alex Iwobi, emphasizing the harmful effects of cyberbullying.

The football player for the Super Eagles was forced to remove his Instagram account as a result of persistent criticism from Nigerian fans.

AY Makun responded by posting pictures of Alex Iwobi’s contribution to the Super Eagles’ accomplishment in earning a spot in the African Cup of Nations and a description of the negative effects of cyberbullying.

The comedian asked Nigerians to give the football player love instead of criticism.

In his word“Anyone can become a victim of cyberbullying. Malicious information posted on the Internet can spread far and wide at an instant, and it is always difficult to be deleted completely. The immediacy of the spread makes it hard for victims to defend themselves or take precautions. The harm caused by cyberbullying is always ignored by computer or mobile phone users.

It is so sad to see how you all have exhibited various forms of cyberbullying on a young man whose only crime was to come and represent his father land. Tomorrow, you all will still be wondering why the likes of Saka and others are never going to play for Nigeria?

It’s time to think beyond your personal interests and look at the negative effects of your evil actions. Let’s help promote a culture of care and respect on the Internet and prevent cyberbullying. Kindly share a ❤️ for @alexanderiwobi on this post.

NOTE: Dear Fair weather and forgetful fans. The different slides are designed to refresh your selfish memories.”

“We win as a team, and we lose as a team. Alex gave his all on the field, just like every member of our squad.

“Instead of spreading negativity, let’s show genuine love and support to our players. They need our encouragement now more than ever. Let’s uplift each other and stand united, both in victory and defeat”.
