Gullible celebrities get pressured into spending fortunes on societal expectations- Ali baba

Ace comedian, Ali baba has opened up on the pressure celebrities put up with in order to meet the expectations of the society.

Writing about the pains of fame on his Instagram page on Thursday, he said: ”As a celebrity, one is on a constant battle because there is usually a delicate, and often un balanced expectation, of reality and perception. The no hiding place for gold fish is true in form and the expected glass like life is a given. Think about it, while the life of a celebrity (or any popular person), if you may, is scrutinized by many for specs and logs, for a few, it is a source of inspiration for others. That’s the dilemma. While trying to live your life to reflect how you always wanted and worked hard to achieve, someone somewhere is asking and questioning why you are living that kind of life when there are so many who do not have the privilege to lead that kind of life.

“I am not in defence of loud ostentatious lifestyles and luxury displays of fortune. I am talking about a moderate celebrity who lives well because fortune lifted him or her above average life. Some time last week, I saw a story about how some people queried, no, mocked a celebrity for driving a car they considered beneath his status.

“They expected more. He was living below their own standards. And their expected standards, was for the celebrity to be rolling in a 2018 Range Rover, instead of the 2008 (sic?) one he drove.

A celebrity wears a favourite shoe twice in a space of 3 months, and the status mongers jump on the pictures and pair them, side by side. Yes. There you go!!! Proof that the celebrity is in financial dire straits. So the celebrity, the gullible ones, get pressured into spending fortunes on meeting those expectations and without an umbrella in the rainy days,”he said.

APC Congress: Nigeria has failed, Ali Baba weeps [Video]

Stand-up comedian, brand influencer and motivational speaker, Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, popularly known as Ali Baba has wept for the fortune of the country after witnessing act of thuggery that occurred during the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congresses.

TheNewsGuru reports the APC congresses has been marred by shortcomings at different wards, leaving Ali Baba, who witnessed two unidentified young men captured interrupting the process at one of the APC congresses saying: “Nigeria is a failed country”.

The popular comedian in his lamentation stressed the act of the two young men captured in the video can be likened to “what Orubebe did” and “what those guys did when they walked into the hallowed chambers of the National Assembly and carried the mace”.

“Can you imagine how confident and arrogant the grey bearded guy was? Or the guy in the danshiki? Just imagine if he was a university student. Dead. That’s what he would be. Think about it.

“This is what herdsmen [do] daily. This is what people who dip hands into government coffers and loot to their heart’s content do. This is what people who carry ballot boxes do.

“This is what happens when law makers break each other’s head on the assembly floor. This is how a man can walk into a government house carry a sitting governor of a state, and constituted authority are negotiating with him to release “his excellency” and the kidnapper kept the governor for as long as he wanted. And nothing happened.

“This is what police men do to harmless citizens. This is what military officers do and get away with. You know why? We are a lawless country. We don’t meet out commensurate punishments to these kinds of elements. So they do it again and again.

“That’s the democracy we are practicing. And you are thinking things will change? Pardon me, do you think only these 2 exist? Naaaa. By these actions they have emboldened 2 million others. Who will now believe its doable.

“If these 2 can do this, with all cameras rolling, can you imagine what they can do to anyone who crosses the path of their godfather off camera? Dead!!!!.

“I cry my beloved country. Now I really want that dual citizenship. Failed country. Yes. Go call the police,” Ali Baba lamented.

The Council meets to consider applications for the exercise of prerogative of mercy that is forwarded through the Nigerian Prisons authority.”

“Basically, in exercising this there are guidelines that are set and some of these include looking at the period that has been served by the inmates and for hard capital offences, such inmates must have served for a sufficient period of time and the reason is that the Council in the guidelines try to balance various interests such as that of the community, the family of the victims and also the interest of the administration of criminal justice and justice reform to ensure that prisoners are reformed and rehabilitated.
