  • Women shouldn’t get married if they aren’t financially independent- Ali Baba

Ali Baba has urged Nigerian women to embrace financial independence before they think of getting married.

The veteran comedian made this known via his Instagram page on Sunday, February 10, 2019. According to him, gone are the days when a woman would totally depend on a man for everything.

“That era of being financially dependent on a man expired many years ago. Sadly, very few women started late to realise that they also had the equal PERSONAL requirements to make themselves, FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT. MANY of the men who also believed that women should not be financially independent were also everywhere. And with time, many of those men, where in places of authority and economic positions of influence. Such men also started to see that many women were a threat to their masculinity. And did everything to block them.

Like a woman can not bail anyone arrested. Women can not rent properties… They failed to accept that women were capable of pulling their weight when shouldered with responsibilities BUT DID BETTER THAN THE MEN, who went head to head with them. And still, play their roles as women. In school, you will remember, if you want to be honest, there were ladies who were constantly in 1st to 10th positions. And there were heavy men, who were unashamedly in the 30th to 32nd positions. That was the start. It became more glaring that women can be equally smart and even smarter.

“Many of these men, were in any case being taught by women, as teachers, lecturers, and professors. So, gradually, the thought of a woman being DEPENDENT ON any man started fading. Especially when the men started having them as bosses, and learning under their feet. Humbling. However, it needs to be further emphasised in these day and age, that the days of a woman being DEPENDENT are gone. Or nearly gone. So, it’s clear, that financial instability of women is the major reason many women don’t get treated like they should. It turns relationships to cash and carry or business transactions.”

It also then makes many men believe, that financial independence will take away their power. Only WEAK MEN think like that. And women who think they must go into a relationship because it’s their only way to financial stability are the ones who empower them,” he wrote.

Ali Baba has a unique way of getting everyone to listen to him whenever he has a message to pass across.

  • Why politicians are not sharing money for 2019 elections- Alibaba

Ace comedian and public affairs commentator, Alibaba has revealed the reason politicians are not keen about sharing money for the forthcoming elections.

The comedian made this known on his Instagram page adding that the money isn’t available for them to spend anyhow because it is in the Treasury Single Account.

Treasury Single Account is a public accounting system using a single account, or a set of linked accounts by government to ensure all revenue receipts and payments are done through a Consolidated Revenue Account (CRA) at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The pilot TSA scheme commenced in 2012 using a unified structure of accounting for 217 government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, for accountability and transparency in public fund management.

Alibaba wrote on Instagram: “By now, all traditional and new media would have been loaded with adverts and campaign materials. Oya na, do it let’s see. The good thing in all of these that is happening, is, that, gradually, CASH POLITICS, PAY AS YOU GO ELECTIONS, and HIGHEST BIDDER GETS VOTES… will soon be eradicated or at least reduced”.

  • 2019: Money is what determines who wins an election in Nigeria- Ali Baba

Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, Nigerian comedian popularly known as Ali Baba, says money is what determines who wins an election in Nigeria.

Commenting about the forth coming 2019 election on his Instagram ,the comedian also said the reason why some politicians venture into politics is because of the monetary benefits involved.

“Let me trouble you a bit this morning. The life of politics in Nigeria, is MONEY. Money is what determines who become an elected official. Period. And the reason anyone wants to be elected is the money. Thats why anyone who is going to come into politics to change that REALITY, will not be allowed to win.

Once you get into an office, and you are not letting people chop the money, you become an enemy in that system. You also must bear in mind that of the 2 terms you get, or are entitled to, you must make sure, that is ENSURE, that those who made it possible for you to be elected, recover their monies. In Nigeria, today, as we speak, there are only 10 offices that have access to the kind of dollars that can change the course of an election in anyone’s favour. Our politics has been DOLLARIZED. The offices: Ministry of finance, CBN, NNPC, BANK MDs, CUSTOMS, FIRS, NPA, NIMASA, PRESIDENCY, SENATE and GOVERNORS. These are the people who can influence the elections at any time”.

He added that federal allocation is the reason some people run for office.

“ The others who can also help to tilt an election in your favour, are billionaires in dollars. The reason, most people you see want to become governors of some states, is not because they have anything to offer, IT IS FOR WHAT FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OFFERS MONTHLY. Federal allocation is why some are running for office.

Let the constitution change, that your state must generate it’s own revenue, develop and harness all potentials, take care of itself & then pay FEDERAL government 30% of all the money it generated. The number of people who want to rule Jigawa, Gombe, Ebonyi, Taraba, Kogi, Kebbi, Ekiti… states will reduce.

“Because, they will have to find the revenue to fund the state. How can a state that can not survive without Federal allocation, have a governor who lives and runs his government like he is the governor of Rivers State? With which money? That’s why they are shouting and refusing the minimum wage. When it comes to carrying on like they are the governor of Lagos State, they will be answering, EXCELLENCY. But when it comes to paying minimum wage, they immediately remember that all states are not equal. But it’s ok to have 36 ministries like Akwa Ibom State, with 36 commissioners & S.S.A”.

  • Alibaba reacts over Pastor Yomi Kasali’s criticism of comedians

Alibaba reacts over Pastor Yomi Kasali’s criticism of comedians

Outspoken senior pastor of Foundation Of Truth Assembly, Reverend Yomi Kasali, threw a jab at comedians who share jokes ridiculing men of God .

Kasali shared a video on Instagram of himself berating the comedians. He frowned at comedians using churches as outlets for their jokes. The cleric also condemned pastors who allow it.He added that the day a Christian laughs at a comedian cracking a joke abusing God or men of God, then such a person is no longer a Christian.

Reacting over his statement, Alibaba fondly called Nigeria’s king of comedy, said any man of God who has become far from God, has fallen into the hands of comedians. He noted that If Jesus was in this clime and time, he would have cracked jokes.

Hear him:” I agree totally. No comedian should do any joke that mocks God. God can not be mocked. Jesus Christ, Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon his name) and the Holy Spirit are also in this exclusive no mock zone. After that, everyone else is easy pick.

“Men of God and Men from God, also can be excluded from the mock zone. But any man of God who has become far from God, has fallen into our hands. Oh by the way… just as jokes are a tool in entertainment and criticism, they were tools back in the days. They are like parables. Jesus used a lot of those parables. If Jesus were in our clime and time, he would have used jokes as well. I hear jokes from @pauladefarasin @tonyrapu #jesseduplanti @Bishoptdjakes #BensonIdahosa @pastorituaighodalo @creflodollar #thePope #CardinalOkojie #PastorEAAdeboye #bishopKuka… these men of God can give any comedian a run for their money. They use humour to get their messages across. In fact, some of the best and cleanest jokes can be gleaned from the pulpit. Because those jokes can be told anywhere.

HOWEVER, IF A MAN OF GOD DOESNT HAVE THE ANOINTING OF SENSE OF HUMOUR… IT WILL BE HARD FOR THAT TO BE HIS POINT OF STRENGTH. So, expectedly, he will not see the value in using it or seeing it used. Just as, a pastor who can’t sing may not apply songs to his teachings. Like I said @yomi_kasali has a point. Up to a point. That’s my point”.

  • Sixty percent of Nigeria’s budget favours politicians- Ali Baba

Popular comedian and public affairs commentator, Ali Baba has said 60 percent of the Nigerian budget favours the political class.

He shared pictures of Nigerian currencies, stating that all the things that makes Nigeria commercially viable are engraved on the currencies. He however observed that the weakest links are always the politicians. He said the politicians weaken everything and strengthen themselves.

Hear him: ”When you look at these images on our currency, you will see all the MAJOR things that the Government believes make us a commercially viable country. Culture. History. Arts and craft. Entertainment. Agricultural products. Military. Arabic influences. Major Ethnic groups. Business. Human resources. Petroleum resources. CBN. Politicians.

“I am not making these up. They are all on the currency notes. But the weakest link in all of that dynamics are the POLITICIANS. They weaken everything and strengthen themselves. Because the success of all other things noted on the notes, mean that they will be inconsequential. That can not happen. So they ensure nothing else grows except them. In fact, 60% of the budget is for the POLITICIANS to be ok. The rest can be on anything else.

“Take your time and Look at the notes again. Interestingly, no education. No hospitals. No sports. I know one may argue that the others are inferred. But note that even the ones that are noted on the notes are not noteworthy. Of all of them things, the only things that drive all others is petroleum, CBN and politicians. Because when you really look at it, the other things noted don’t pull their weight because we don’t plan plan with them. We plan with oil benchmark. And that is the danger. So if all the other things we should depend on as a country depends on oil prices, if oil prices crash to single digits… all other sectors are dead. Dead like Over ripe dodo”.

  • Don’t leave a good man because he is always busy- Alibaba declares

Alibaba, a Nigerian comedian and entrepreneur has urged women not to leave a good man because of his busy schedule.

The revered comedian noted that it’s a core part of a relationship to stay in touch, but also said it all a man needs whenever he is busy is for his woman to be understanding.

Alibaba wrote on Instagram: “I have taught this to many married women, who say their husband is too busy, & several of them listened and snapped out of that, IF HE LOVES YOU, HE WILL FIND TIME TO CALL AND MAKE TIME FOR YOU. Others are just set in their ways. That thought process is one reason many relationships break up, some before it even starts. While I agree that it’s important to be in touch, CONSTANTLY, with your significant other, I also believe that there are times when work really can hold you down & shut down the world. There are other times, when it’s not that you are busy, but you just don’t want any negative energies messing up your already clogged up itinerary.

Citing his own personal example, he said there are times as an MC, he starts working from 4pm and won’t get off work till 12midnight.

Hear him: “The reason a lot of ladies have the belief that you can always find Time is because there is, often times, a guy who has time 24/7. Some could be jobless, have arrived, work for themselves, have light working hours, or even in careers that gives them time to waste. Believe it or not, there are people who can actually be busy for 4 hours straight. I am an MC, I have started working, sometimes, from 4pm and don’t get off till 12 midnight or even later. There are cabin crew members who are airborne for 12 hours or less.

“My Point is, don’t throw away a good man, because he is always busy. Or would you rather one that is always home? Like I said, it’s a core part of relationships to stay in touch, but there are times all YOU NEED IS UNDERSTANDING. I have a friend whose babe starts calling him from 4:30pm. Where are you? Are you still on the road? Why didn’t you pick your call? Are you sure you are at work? Are you not supposed to have closed? Can you video call me? Blah blah blah. Then he met one who doesn’t stress him. She will leave messages. How was your day? Hope the work load is not too much? You have been so busy, try and get a massage this weekend. Should I send you lunch? Should my driver bring you orange juice? Once you give a guy the impression that you are not concerned about his career, you are on a long thing”

  • Why I didn’t bill Dangote to perform at daughter’s wedding-Alibaba

Truth be told, when the richest man in Africa invites you to anchor his daughter’s wedding , it should be an avenue to make mega money. However, Nigerian comedian, Alibaba has revealed that he didn’t charge Aliko Dangote for Fatima’s wedding.

Recall that Alibaba reiterated this on Instagram.

According to him: ”Dangote is my friend and I chose to play a part in the wedding ceremony of his daughter for free. I have done a lot of events for him such as dinners, luncheons, award ceremonies, among other events and I was nicely paid. For instance, if (former President Olusegun) Obasanjo, calls me for an event, I would handle the event for free because of my relationship with him. If he then offers me anything out of the abundance of his heart, I would take it. I don’t see why anybody should raise eyebrows over my decision. Other comedians were there and they did well” he told Punch.

In his Instagram post, Alibaba complained about how tough it was for him to control the crowd at the wedding.

“The challenge of being an MC at a state function can be daunting. After dealing with protocol, then come the issues of timing and duration. There seems to be a long journey towards achieving the seeming decorum”.

I once worked as a bus conductor- AliBaba

Ace comedian and entrepreneur Atunyota Akpoboriome a.k.a Alibaba has revealed that he once worked as a bus conductor.

The humour merchant noted that he occasionally used his father’s Toyota Crown vehicle to convey people to their respective destinations as a taxi-driver.

During a chat with Channels TV, he said:, “I have been a bus conductor before, from Ramah park back to Ogbaazu (in Delta State).”

“I had my dad’s Toyota Crown. I will take the car for washing and I would do kabu-kabu (taxi), bribe him by coming with all the newspapers and put on the table”.

He added, “ I have loaded bottles before in Super Brew. Even the Ibrus knew me because during holidays my dad takes us to the village. Our own summer was in the village.”

“So when I started doing stand-ups, they were one of the first people that I visited and they were like, you are the one that loads crates and I responded, Yes I used to.”

  • In Nigeria, we only respect thieves- Alibaba

Nigeria comedian and actor, Alibaba has expressed his opinion over the viral video of Femi Ogedengbe, a Nollywood actor turned gateman in the US.

The ace comedian acknowledged the efforts of the actor, adding that his respect for Ogedengbe cannot be measured right now.

He said: “This is a man who put his ego and fame to the back, and faced reality. TO MAKE A BETTER LIFE FOR HIS FAMILY AND HIMSELF. He did not believe the hype. You see, that is exactly the kind of society we are in. Someone who is doing an honest job is vilified and castigated. Even mocked. Just to drive traffic. Then those who are involved in Yahoo Yahoo, kidnapping, 419, looting and taking loans from banks and refusing to pay back are celebrated. Think about it. Would we really have been happier if he was famous and his kids couldn’t feed? Or was thrown out of his apartment because he couldn’t pay rent? Would we have been ok seeing him jump Okada and keke napep? We like to see people who are famous LOOKING RICH. Doesn’t matter how they do it. That’s pressure. Major pressure. That’s why people are forced to steal, turn to prostitution, carry drugs, go into politics and Rob the country blind… because our yardstick for measuring success is flawed to the floor. We only respect thieves. The undergraduate who works at a car wash during holidays is a loser. The one that decides to work as a bar tender or fuel pump attendant is a waste. The only ones that count are the ones that turn up and slay. They don’t need to be working. Just twerking and colour blocking is all they need to do”.

Alibaba also made a shocking revelation stating that the lifestyles portrayed in Nollywood are make believe. He stressed that most actors don’t earn the kind of money their lifestyle portrays in movies.

“Nollywood is a make believe world. That’s why many who jump in get frustrated because they missed the memo. Its a huge labour of Love. @ajokesilva told me, when I consulted her for what I should charge to do TWP1, “Ali, its not like your MCee work ooo! It’s a labour of love. We do it for the art and heart”. So I was on set for a whole month for what I charge in 4 hours. Most of the lifestyles you see in Nollywood is not supported by the fees for roles played. They earn the money for that life style elsewhere. Yes you become famous. The money from the role cannot get you a Rolls. A chanel bag is 1.6m. How many movies you wan act to buy am? Wetin I sabi sef”?

  • Most successful Nigerian comedians own houses- Alibaba

Ace comedian Alibaba has continually harped on the need to support upcoming comedians in the comedy industry.

The respected entertainer on Wednesday took to his Instagram page to share why he supports budding comedians, adding that it is needed to grow the industry.

Alibaba also noted in his statement that most successful Nigerian comedians own houses.

According to him: “So, someone asked me the other day, why do you give comedians so much support? I didn’t have an immediate response. I just said Na God. Yes. Na God. Because if to say na just me… But seriously speaking, there is an urgent need to make young comedians know that the #holygrail of Stand Up comedy is #Spontaneity. And that same spontaneity is what can keep them on the business for 50yrs and more. Then there is also the need to let them know that a car is not a wish in the sky. It’s something that you can get if you are good. I also believe that other comedians will be inspired to work harder to achieve their own milestones. I want it to be clear in their uncertainty of a career in comedy that they can achieve anything they want. Take a look at most of the successful comedians… they all own houses. All. Those who don’t, don’t because they are inching towards it. Like me. I don’t have a house yet, because I live with my wife. But before this year runs out, I will do something. Let me call on all other front liners in other fields, to give their upcoming as much support as is required. It goes a long way to keep their dreams alive and grow the business”.
