Tinubu unfit to lead the country – Najaatu Muhammad

Embattled former  All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Najaatu Muhammad has stated reasons why Bola Tinubu shouldn’t have emerged as the Party’s flagbearer for the forthcoming general elections in the country.

She said Tinubu’s blunders during campaign rallies confirmed his poor health and state of mind which would affect governance if he emerges the country’s president.

Hajiya Muhammad last week resigned as Director of Civil Society in the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

In an interview with pressmen,  the outspoken politician said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would have been a better APC standard bearer.

“He’s a professor, he’s brilliant. For few weeks he was given to govern this country, he did a great job.

“But they said all sort of things against him. Tinubu controls the strongest propaganda machine in this country, which is the Lagos–Ibadan press,” she said.

She recalled her shock when Tinubu allegedly admitted he didn’t have a blueprint for the North and asked her to present what she thinks the region needs.

Muhammad said supporters of the former Lagos governor were selfish, greedy and were only after the funds at his disposal.

The activist said they know Tinubu is “incapable, handicapped”, but are also aware that “he’s already a cabal that they can depend on for the piece of a pie”.

“I have not spoken to anyone, in or outside APC, from up North that told me or that believes Asiwaju is capable. All they are saying is that you know we have to get something out of it.”

The Police Service Commission (PSC) commissioner explained that she followed her conscience by leaving the APC because “to be silent is criminal”.

Muhammad lamented that some Nigerians have allowed themselves to be pulled by the nose, “some out of ignorance, some out of tribal or religious sentiments”.

Mohammad left APC to join the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2023 general elections in the country.

2023: Atiku is the healthiest of all presidential candidates – Aliyu

Former Governor of Niger State  and a Chieftain of the  Peoples Democratic Party Member, Babangida Aliyu mocked the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, over the bike exercise session video that surfaced online yesterday, saying the PDP presidential candidate is the healthiest.

Aliyu posited that Tinubu doesn’t need to share a video of himself riding a bike to prove he is fit to be president

Aliyu said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar remains the healthiest of all the presidential candidates.

Recall that Tinubu had shared a video of himself on a treadmill on Sunday evening, saying that he was fit as a fiddle and debunking that he fell ill and ran abroad for treatment.

Tinubu’s absence at some important events, especially the peace pact, had sparked speculations that he rushed out of the country and put his campaign flag-off on hold to look after his health.

But Tinubu, captioned his video as: “Many have said I have died; others claim I have withdrawn from the presidential campaign. Well… Nope. This is the reality: I am strong, I am healthy.”

Meanwhile, speaking at the Ogun State PDP Secretariat in Abeokuta on Monday, Aliyu took a swipe at Tinubu, saying “a medically fit presidential candidate needs no proof by sharing video clips on social media.”

Aliyu insisted that “Atiku is the healthiest of the presidential candidates in this country.”

Aliyu alongside former Governors, Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano and Boni Haruna of Adamawa had stormed Abeokuta on behalf of Atiku.

Others at the event were, a former Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Elder Yemi Akinwonmi; the Ogun PDP governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu; his running mate, Adekunle Akinlade, among other Southwest PDP leaders.

Aliyu expressed confidence that an Atiku presidency would reclaim Nigeria from the Boko Haram insurgents, bandits and other criminal elements.

Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu is a senior civil servant who was elected governor of Niger State, Nigeria in April 2007. He was reelected on 26 April 2011

Nigerian youths under the umbrella of City Boy Movement (CBM) has promised to deliver 10 million votes for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu and running mate Kashim Shettima in the 2023 general elections in the country.

Some members of the body converged at the Unity Fountain, Abuja causing traffic jam on the road while hinting that such convergence will be replicated in many parts of the country.

Speaking with journalists at the rally, CBM’s National Coordinator, Shoaga Francis, said “any mistake” in Nigeria’s choice of President will be “detrimental.”

He said, “The main reason we’re here today is to tell Nigerians that there is one alternative to the presidency in 2023. There is only one man that can change this economy for good. Any mistake will be detrimental. Asiwaju needs the youths. It’s time for them to be recognised again in this country.”

Also, President of the Women Cooperative Society of Nigeria, Mrs Oluwatoyin Badmus, said with Nigerian women constituting the highest population of voters, market women and traders are poised to support the Tinubu/Shettima ticket.

“You know that it is women who vote. If you neglect women, you lose the election. Asiwaju does not play with market women. So, we market women all over Nigeria; we are solidly behind him.

“Our group has coordinators in almost all the markets in Nigeria. Women have been registering for our corporative. And we don’t register anyone who does not have a PVC. Our women have their PVCs, and their vote is for Asiwaju,” she said.

  • Test Polls: Obi defeats Atiku, Tinubu, Kwankwaso in September

Test Polls: Obi defeats Atiku, Tinubu, Kwankwaso in September

A poll organized by World Bank Director, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and commissioned by the tedo N. A. Peterside Foundation In September shows that the Labour party candidate, Peter Obi is in clear lead.

The poll shows that the three leading candidates, Bola Tinubu of All Progressive Congress, (APC )Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of Labour Party are still popular among the Nigerian electorates.

However, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party  made an entrance to finish in fourth place.

According to the polls conducted by ANAP foundation, he percentage of registered voters is as follows in each of the zones – 99% in the North East, 90% in the South South, the North Central and the North West respectively. The lowest registered voter percentages were in the South East with 88% and the South West with 85%.

“The results showed a significant lead for Mr Peter Obi with 21% of voters proposing to vote for him if the presidential election were to be conducted today; and 13% each proposing to vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who are both tied in second place. Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso was a distant fourth with 3% of voters proposing to vote for him,” a statement by ANAP foundation announcing the result of the poll shows.

The statement added that Obi’s 8 percentage point lead at this early stage is significant, but not sufficient to separate him  completely from a leading pack of candidates scoring 21%, 13% and 13%  respectively.

It says that undecided voters and those who prefer not to reveal their preferred candidate add up to a whopping 32% and 15% respectively, adding that the gender split of undecided voters shows that 39% of women are undecided versus 27% of male voters.

“When asked if respondents were aware of the various candidates vying for the Presidency, data gathered showed that 99% of the respondents were aware of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC. 98% were aware of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP. 95% were aware of  Mr. Peter Obi of LP  and 74% were aware of Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso of the NNPP. All other candidates scored below 55% in terms of name recognition.

“Furthermore, the data summarizes top five reasons why voters are more inclined to vote in the forthcoming elections, these include: – The need to tackle insecurity (45%), the Economy (20%), Education (9%), Unemployment (7%) and Poverty alleviation (4%).

“46% of the respondents would love to see their preferred Presidential candidates participate in a televised interview and/or debate, with the interview/debates spanning across topics like their party manifestos, issues of Security, Economy, Education, Job Creation, Healthcare and Agriculture amongst others.

“It is worthy of note that 69% of those aged 18-25, 76% of those aged 26-35, 77% of those aged 36-45, 87% of those aged 46-60 and 89% of those aged 61+ responded saying that they would definitely vote in the coming elections. The age groups that expressed the greatest willingness to vote were those between 46-60 and 61+ years. On average, the Poll shows that almost 8 in 10 registered voters are absolutely certain that they would be voting in the next presidential election. If they stay committed then we could witness a huge turnout in the February 2023 elections. Furthermore, Mr. Peter Obi led the pack in virtually all the age categories i.e. his leadership was not confined to the youths only.

“While these Poll results show some significant trends, it is key to note that the battle ahead lies in the hands of the undecided/swing voters, as it appears they would ultimately decide which candidate takes the lead to emerge as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the 2023 presidential elections.

In summary, our September 2022 Polls are inconclusive in terms of establishing a clear winner, as the undecided voters are large enough to turn the tables. However, ANAP Foundation has concluded that the trends are clear enough to establish the front runners and so our subsequent polls will concentrate on the 4 leading candidates only.”

The forthcoming general elections in the country starts with the presidential election on the 28th of February 2023 while the Gubernatorial elections holds on March 11 across the country.
