“I tamed the Atlantic ocean; same way we will check erosion in Anambra”- Tinubu tells Anambrarians (VIDEO)

The presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has promised Anambrarians that he will fix the erosion menace ravaging Anambra State like he tackled the Lagos Atlantic ocean.

Tinubu also said he was not afraid of anyone in the presidential race.

The APC leader spoke on Tuesday at Dr Alex Ekwueme square in Awka, Anambra State during the continuation of his campaign.

The way you voted for Soludo is the way you’ll vote for me. The man who led here, that call himself Peter Obi, just like the biblical Peter, who denied Jesus before the cock crew three times, will deny all the promises he made you

Tinubu said he was not like the one they called Peter in the Bible that denied Christ three times before the cock crowed in the morning.

According to him: “What that means is that I’m a thinker, I’m smart and I’m a doer.”

The mammoth crowd at the square kept shouting Asiwaju, Asiwaju, interrupting his speech intermittently.

The former Lagos Governor assured youths of job opportunities, promising to convert the State into one of the nation’s economic centres.

Tinubu said: “We want to make Anambra a memorable productive state in memory of our own friend, Chuba Okadigbo and our Governor General, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, (Onwa Imo).

“I’m here today to publicize the promise of development we made, the exploration and industrialization Anambra is known for.

"I tamed the Atlantic ocean; same way we will check erosion in Anambra"- Tinubu tells Anambrarians (VIDEO)

” You know me, the Lagos boy, I tamed the Atlantic ocean; the same way we will check erosion in Anambra. We’ll make the value of your property one thousand times your investment. We’ll create jobs for our youth, industrialize and make the state one of the economic centres.

“We’re not like other parties. When they bring up their lies again, ask them how long it will take their lies to travel from Port Harcourt to Onitsha, to Aba.

” For 16 years, PDP lied, sharing our assets among themselves in the name of privatization. The city boy is here, joy, happiness, prosperity and good employment are here. Just make sure your PVC is intact. With me in Lagos, I didn’t discriminate. Your PVC is your mandate.

“When Atiku said he is the only candidate from the north. Is that not a division among us? When I started paying WAEC for students, I didn’t discriminate, I paid for everybody, whether Christian or Muslim.”

While asking the people of the State to vote for him like they overwhelmingly voted for Soludo, Tinubu promised not to disappoint them.

“I brought your son and made him my friend. I didn’t say he’s not a Muslim. Instead, he became the economic adviser to Buhari.

” He’s Charles Soludo, I salute his vision, he’s a brilliant man, he a thinker, he knows the way, we’ll work together, inclusively.

“When I’ll become the President. The way you voted for Soludo is the way you’ll vote for me. The man who led here, that call himself Peter Obi, just like the biblical Peter, who denied Jesus before the cock crew three times, will deny all the promises he made you,” he added.

  • Anambra Govt intensifies war against motor park touts

Anambra Govt intensifies war against motor park touts

Apparently disturbed by nefarious activities of touts, the Anambra State Government has intensified war to flush out the bad eggs among transporters.

Following Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s get-together with transporters and sundry stakeholders in the transportation industry at Prof Dora Akunyili Development Centre, Awka where he reduced the taxes levied on the operators, there has been an intensification of the battle against the touts (ndi agboro) who harass the Keke, Shuttle bus, and other commercial drivers.

In Onitsha, some hoodlums who nefariously branded a Mercedes car in the mode of the Anambra IRS have been apprehended in their devilish deed of harassing the drivers. To underscore the seriousness government attaches to the ban on “agboro”, a set of Hotlines have been specifically created for the public to call anytime and anywhere touts are found to be in operation in Anambra State.

    The Hotlines are:
    Airtel: 08122554530 and 08120356133
    MTN: 07069680112 and 080669695398

The members of the public are advised to call OCHA Brigade via these numbers for the instant apprehension and prosecution of the touts (ndi agboro).

Governor Soludo has reiterated that touting is not a feasible means of earning an income. Mr. Governor is poised to rehabilitate the touts who own up to wanting to do any other business that is lawful and profitable. The new Anambra State has no place whatsoever for miscreants and allied hoodlums intent on harassing transporters and thereby putting government revenue in their own pockets.

The OCHA Brigade and the Anambra State Joint Enforcement Team (ANJET) have therefore intensified action as per bringing the incorrigible touts to book.

The situation where commercial transport drivers are being manipulated by some greedy touts into not paying the requisite dues to the appropriate authorities will no longer be tolerated by the government.

The Keke and Shuttle bus and other transport operators should go ahead to pay their reduced rates without paying any heed whatsoever to the manipulative touts and their agents.

The process is on to rid the transport unions of greedy touts who are bent on putting in reverse gear the progress being made in Anambra State by the Governor Soludo administration.

The government is therefore calling on the public to “Say something when they see something!” Any tout sighted anywhere should be reported to OCHA Brigade or ANJET through the provided hotlines!

Anambra State cannot affort to continue to tolerate these vampires who have for many years been denying the government the revenue it will use to work for Ndi-Anambra.

Anambra court slams N10m fine on Nigeria Police

An Anambra High Court sitting in Awka on Tuesday awarded N10 million as damages against the Nigeria Police Force and AIG Abutu Yaro, in charge of Zone 13 of the Nigeria Police.

It was over the illegal detention of one Mr. Chukwuemeka Ekwueme, a real estate developer.

Presiding Justice D. A. Onyefulu, a vacation judge, also awarded N200,000 as cost of litigation in favour of the plaintiff.

Justice Onyefulu also issued a restraining order on the police from arresting, detaining, harassing or intimidating Ekwueme on the same matter and ruled that the police should, instead prefer charges against him.

The judgment resulted from Suit No. A/Misc 461/2022 which Ekwueme filed against the defendants to enforce his rights to freedom.

Counsel to Ekwueme, Chief Alex Ejesieme (SAN) had earlier told the court that the police arrested and detained his client between Dec. 14 and Dec. 28, 2022 without taking him to court.

The arrest and detention, he added, was in relation to an attempt by Ekwueme to develop a parcel of land at Oba International Airport in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra.

He argued that the police arrested his client based on a petition by the community and detained him between Dec. 14 and Dec. 28, 2022 without prosecuting him.

Other defendants in the suit were Nkiru Nwode, police spokesperson at Zone 13 of the Nigeria Police Force, and Emmanuel Awah, an officer in the office of the spokesperson.

The same court ordered the immediate release of Ekwueme on Dec. Dec. 28, 2022, following a bail application by his counsel.

Anambra Dep. Gov. confronts soldiers over roadblocks

Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the Deputy Governor of Anambra on Saturday confronted soldiers for erecting roadblocks on some major roads in the state and causing gridlock for motorists.

Ibezim, who was on statewide traffic control, said it was not acceptable to the government that the motoring public would spend long time and burn petrol on traffic because of artificial gridlock caused by soldiers.

He said the security personnel could still do their jobs without necessarily causing undue hardship on the people.

At Amansea, near the border with Enugu State on the one lane expressway, Ibezim wondered while soldiers at Stanel filling station and shortly after Nnamdi Azikiwe University gate would retain the disused tyres and sand bags which they used to barricade the road after he asked them to dismantle them.

Talking to the soldiers, he said, “I came here in the morning to warn you about this but you are still blocking the traffic; we must be sane in this country.

”I pulled out as a director in the Ministry of Defense, this is not what the Army stands for.

“Allow these people to move, you do not suffer tax payers this way,” he said.

Ibezim called on road users, motorists and pedestrians to cooperate with traffic management agencies to ensure free flow of traffic within the state.

According to him, available roads should be free to users, everybody should abide by the rules.

“At Amawbia bye pass, I saw heavy traffic but when I alighted to find out what was going on, it happened that a youth stood in the middle of the road, waving party flag while the traffic stood still.

“I had to order him out to be attested, surprisingly, they said I was threatening to arrest an opposition party faithful, but we won’t succumb to such cheap blackmail, our roads must be free of all obstructions,” he said.
