Neymar left out as Ancelotti names first Brazil squad

Carlo Ancelotti has decided to give Man United flop Antony another chance with the Brazil national team but has left Neymar out of his first squad.

Ancelotti, who left Real Madrid after their final game of the season, got back to work quickly, naming his first squad as the new Brazil manager.

The legendary Italian coach has been tasked with leading Brazil to World Cup glory next year as the best players on the planet descend upon the USA to battle it out.

Antony, 25, has earned a recall thanks to his fine form for Real Betis since leaving Man United on loan in January.

Neymar, on the other hand, has not been selected for the two World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay.

His first games at the helm will be on June 6th and 11th, respectively.

Ancelotti set to leave Real Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti is set to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season with Xabi Alonso the heavy favourite to replace the legendary Italian.

PerThe Athletic, the 65-year-old is expected to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season and take over as Brazil’s new manager for the 2026 World Cup.

The report suggests that the Brazilian football federation sent representatives to watch Ancelotti’s side get knocked out of the Champions League by Arsenal.

The CBF have since denied this, but Ancelotti is still said to be in talks over the move.

Former Real Madrid midfielder and current Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso has been identified as the man to replace Ancelotti.

The Spanish giants are understood to be increasingly keen on getting a deal to bring Alonso to the club before this summer’s Club World Cup in June.

  • What I told Kroos if he reverses retirement decision – Ancelotti

What I told Kroos if he reverses retirement decision – Ancelotti

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is hoping Toni Kroos reverses his retirement decision.

Kroos is scheduled to hang up the boots after Germany’s Euros campaign.

But Ancelotti told ll Giornale: “Luka (Modric) is a unique example of quality and professionalism.

“Unfortunately, Kroos decided to stop, he is a German in his decisions, but he will continue living in Madrid. I told him that if he changes his stance in autumn, we start again with a call.”

He added: “Germany, who play at home, have an interesting team. Italy has lacked a generational shift after the 2021 victory, I don’t know what chances we have (of winning).”

  • Barca exit is good for Xavi – Ancelotti

Barca exit is good for Xavi – Ancelotti

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti feels Xavi will bounce back from his sacking by Barcelona.

Xavi has already been replaced by Hansi Flick at Barca.

Ancelotti said: “Barça has created its history thanks to a clear game identity with players of that profile like Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and Busquets. The coach has to adapt to the players he has.

“With what Barça had it was the most appropriate way to play football.

“It’s part of a coach’s job, Xavi will understand. When there is not a good relationship between the club and the coach, the best thing is to separate. It happened to me with Napoli, Bayern and Chelsea. Separation is good for him to Barcelona and Xavi.”

  • Ancelotti changed me as a player – Vinicius Jr

Ancelotti changed me as a player – Vinicius Jr

Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Jr says he owes his form to coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Vini Jr has been superb for Real this season.

Ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final he said of his coach: “He’s done everything for me. He’s always given me confidence, and scolded me when I’ve needed it. We’ve developed a really good relationship. He cares about me as much as I care about him.

“He’s changed me as a player – not just on the pitch, but also in the way I think about coaching and development. He says that humility is my greatest virtue, because I always listen to others.

“When I score a goal in a game, I always want my teammates to score as well, so I’m in a better position. I’m not moved by vanity, to play with the best players, the big stars. Every day he teaches me more on and off the field.”

  • La Liga: 5 key men in Real Madrid title triumph

La Liga: 5 key men in Real Madrid title triumph

The EA SPORTS LALIGA 2023/24 title winner is now in the history books; Real Madrid are champions for a record-extending 36th time in their history. Having been at the top of the standings for almost all the season, the consistency of Carlo Ancelotti’s side has seen them pull away from their rivals, most notably 2022/23 champions FC Barcelona and surprise package Girona FC.

But Real Madrid’s season has also stood out for the outstanding performances from a number of players, whose role was key in placing a 36th LALIGA title in the Santiago Bernabeu trophy cabinet.

    Jude Bellingham

The emergence of the England international in Real Madrid has been one of the themes of the year in European soccer. At just 20 years old, he’s often taken the lead for the side in some of the most difficult moments of the season, and also taken on goalscoring responsibilities to a degree which was not expected back in August.

Bellingham has scored 18 goals from both midfield and attacking positions, including three match-winning goals in both ELCLASICO fixtures against FC Barcelona, as well as crucial points-winners against RC Celta, UD Almeria and Getafe CF. More than just goals, though, the Stourbridge native has slotted seamlessly into the side and looks set to be the lynchpin of the Real Madrid midfield for the next decade.

    Antonio Rüdiger

With both Eder Militao and David Alaba out for much of the season with injury – in addition to an early long-term injury for goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois – the 2023/24 season quickly shaped up to be a difficult year for Real Madrid’s backline. Step up, Antonio Rüdiger. The 31-year-old German, who joined Real Madrid in 2022, quickly commandeered the rearguard, starring in both LALIGA EA SPORTS and the Champions League.

His performances will give coach Carlo Ancelotti a difficult but welcome headache when Militao and Alaba return to full fitness in time for the new season.

    Vini Jr.

Vini Jr continues to show that he is a differential talent. Karim Benzema’s departure last summer saw much of the attacking responsibilities fall on his shoulders, but he did not baulk at the prospect of stepping into the shoes of a man who’d led the line at the Santiago Bernabeu for over a decade. The result: 13 goals and five assists on the way to the title, in addition to showing time and time again the ability to break open deadlocked matches in an instant.

Like Bellingham, Vini Jr. has also had to adapt this season to Real Madrid’s tactical approach, sometimes playing on the inside as an attacking target, but always looking dangerous when he moves out left and creating one-on-ones with the full-back. There is no doubt that the young Brazilian continues to improve in leaps and bounds.

    Toni Kroos

While many considered that Toni Kroos’ best days were behind him at 34 years of age, the German international has been as impressive as ever. He remains a fixture for Carlo Ancelotti and continues to take control of games from midfield in the way in which we’ve become accustomed across his decade at the Santiago Bernabéu, notching seven assists.

Kroos’ contract ends this summer, but all signs point to his performances earning an extension for another season. His performances have also seen him revive his international career, and he’ll be a key figure in the Germany side gunning for glory in this summer’s 2024 European Championships on home soil.

    Carlo Ancelotti

The Italian coach has once again shown why he’s considered one of the greatest managers of all time. Many may have considered that last summer saw the squad weakened by the departure of longtime fixtures such as Karim Benzema or by time creeping up on Luka Modric, Ancelotti has quickly moulded the team around a young core – Bellingham, Tchouameni, Camavinga, et al. – and adapted it to play to their mental and physical strengths.

This season’s title win is his second LALIGA EA SPORTS title, cementing his legacy as the only coach to have won all five of Europe’s major leagues (LALIGA, Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1).

  • I don’t want to give my opinion on Xavi – Ancelotti

I don’t want to give my opinion on Xavi – Ancelotti

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has refused to comment on Xavi’s reaction to the match officials after El Classico clash.

Barcelona twice blew the lead to lose 3-2 on Sunday, with Lamine Yamal having a goal disallowed by VAR.

Real came from 2-1 down to win with Jude Bellingham scoring in injury-time.

He said: “It’s a very big step towards winning LaLiga. We’ve got a big advantage, but we can’t lower our guard. We need to pick up a few more points and these games will help us prepare for the Champions League semi-finals.

“Vinicius didn’t like coming off and wanted to keep going. The forwards have put in a huge effort, especially after the last game. We always ask the forwards to defend and work for the team. They’re the fastest, they try to attack deep and they use a lot of energy. I understand that he wanted to continue, but we had to bring fresh legs on.

“Bellingham arrived at the right time. He put in a lot of hard work, a lot of effort and he hadn’t scored for a long time. He scored a goal today that could be crucial for the league.

“I don’t want to give my opinion on what Xavi thinks because everybody has their own opinion. It was an even, competitive and hard-fought game. Barcelona had some good spells, just like us. We managed to win this game with the last bit of energy and that puts us in a good position in the table.

“As always, there are some situations. The goal wasn’t given because there was no clear image to determine that the ball had gone in. The penalty for the foul on Lucas Vázquez seemed clear to me. I’ll concentrate on our performance because it was good as was Barcelona’s. They showed a lot of quality with their youngsters and the game was of a high standard.”

Lucas Vázquez’s performance, he added: “He’s a very important player, not only for what he did today, but throughout the season. He’s playing at a very high level, he competes with Carvajal, who is one of the best full-backs in the world. He’s made a difference in other games as well. Carvajal could play today, but other players are doing very well this season, like Lucas and Modrić. They are helping us very much in situations like this after the heavy workload of Wednesday’s game.”

  • You should respect your parents – Ancelotti tells Kroos

You should respect your parents – Ancelotti tells Kroos

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti admits he doesn’t know Toni Kroos’ new contract plans.

Kroos’ mother has publicly urged him to sign a new deal.

And Ancelotti said: “You must always respect parents, it is something that is missing at this time, in these generations. But this is a decision that he will make, at the right time and in the best way.”

Asked about Kroos retiring, Ancelotti joked: “If he does so, he has character, b***s.”

    Kroos’ deal expires in June.

  • Real Madrid will be my last team – Ancelotti

Real Madrid will be my last team – Ancelotti

Italian football manager Carlo Ancelotti says Real Madrid will be his last job.

Ancelotti penned a new deal to 2026 last week.

And today, the Italian said: “I am very happy about the renovation. It was quite simple. We have only agreed between the two, without problems and without doubts. It has been very fast.

“The fact that the club wants to continue counting on my work has value. I was not in a hurry. Intrahistory does not matter. The club has done so now because it is happy with our work. I don’t know if it’s a success. The success here is winning the matches.

“The President has not changed. He maintains his motivation and love for this team. It grows since childhood. His career is fantastic. He has very clear ideas about the future. He has always had them. That is why the club is in very good hands.

“Real Madrid will be my last bench. 2026 can be partial. I can stay here after that year. It may or may not be my last year. Depending on the success. I hope I can continue in the Real Madrid in 2027 and 2028. I want to stay here.”

  • I only think about winning fifth Champions League title – Ancelotti

I only think about winning fifth Champions League title – Ancelotti

Real Madrid manager Carl Ancelotti has said he’s only thinking about winning the UEFA Champions League title next year.

He penned a new deal with the Spanish giant till 2026.

Ancelotti said: “This club has a great future. The past is already written and we’re writing the present. Above all, it has a big future with a very young squad and very talented players. The club will be successful in the future, as it has been in the past and is being in the present. With the generation of new players coming through, Madrid’s future is going to be very successful.

“What is done is done. I look forward and when they tell me that I have won four European Cups I only think about winning the fifth next year.

“I don’t think I’ve changed as a person or in the way I coach. Maybe I have a bit more knowledge because I have more experience.
