Luka Modric is immortal – Ancelotti

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has hailed midfielder, Luka Modric after victory over Celta Vigo.

Modric scored in the 4-1 win.

    Ancelotti said, “Modrić is immortal.

“He’s clever, well prepared and is playing really well. His goal changed the game, because until the goal it was an even match and it was really competitive. Celta pressed in the first half.

“They pressured us well and we had difficulty in possession. In the second half they lowered the intensity and we worked the ball well out from the back and the transitions were spectacular.”

Ancelotti confirms Casemiro’s move to Man Utd

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has announced Casemiro is set to leave for Manchester United.

At today’s LaLiga presser, Ancelotti confirmed Casemiro had asked to be sold to the English giants.

He said: “I have spoken with him. He wants to try a new challenge, and the club understands that. We would like to respect Casemior’s wish, after all that he has done for the club.

“Negotiations are underway, but nothing is official yet. He is still our player but he wants to leave us. If that happens, then we have the resources to replace him.”

Ancelotti was asked whether he had tried to convince Casemiro to stay.

“No, I only listened. He has helped us a lot. I listened to his wish and there is no going back. If everything goes well for him and there is an agreement, we will wish him the best and look at what we have.”

It’s easier to win Champions League with Madrid – Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti has admitted it is easier to win the Champions League with Real Madrid.

Ancelotti was speaking to reporters on Saturday night, after they beat Liverpool 1-0 in the final in Paris.

Vinicius Jr netted the only goal of the tight encounter in the second half, as Los Blancos lifted their 14th title, seven more than any other club on the continent.

It is also the fourth time Ancelotti is winning the Champions League and the second time with Madrid. He has won it twice as a manager with AC Milan.

“It’s easier to win the Champions League with Madrid than any other club.

“It’s the history, it’s everything that’s happened to us, it’s the affinity from when fans were small,” Ancelotti said.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has welcomed new signing Vinicius Tobias.

The 18-year-old has joined Real Madrid Castilla, having only signed for Shakhtar Donetsk in January from Internacional.

Tobias, a fullback, arrives as potential cover for Dani Carvajal.

Ancelotti said: “He’s a young player we’ve signed recently. He’s got quality and is learning.

“He’s got a lot of quality. He’s a right wing-back with energy who picks things up quickly and is disciplined. Our plans are to use him in the future, which is the case for all of the boys in our academy.”

  • UCL: We’re preparing for Mbappe to be fit for PSG – Ancelotti

UCL: We’re preparing for Mbappe to be fit for PSG – Ancelotti

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti insists he’d like to see Kylian Mbappe fit for PSG on Wednesday night.

Real need to overturn a 1-0 deficit on Wednesday night to reach the Champions League quarterfinals. Mbappe is battling to make the second-leg due to an ankle injury.

Ancelotti said, “There are many factors in these kinds of games. The most important aspect is the mental side of things and the excitement levels. The important thing is that we will enjoy the backing of our fans, which is big motivation. I see the team as being in good shape, motivated and relaxed and we’re going to produce our best.

“I was a player myself and I never want players to get injured. What happened yesterday to Mbappé means that he’s in with a chance of playing and we’re going to prepare for the match as if Mbappé was going to play. Looking back historically in games at the Bernabéu, great players have always received a good reception. I’d obviously understand it if the fans clap him. The Bernabéu fans enjoy watching good players and also like to see Madrid play well and win.

“Our game plan isn’t just all about stopping Mbappé, it involves Neymar and Messi and all of PSG’s good players. Our plan is to play as a unit, both with and without the ball, display intensity for over 90 minutes and put in a strong all-round performance and produce a smart display. We mustn’t go crazy out there because we’ve got to win in the game, it’s not a case of having to thrash them. We may go infront early on or in the last minute. The important thing is to be in the game and play with intensity.”

He continued: “I don’t usually think about what I fear. I think about what we need to do to produce our best and to perform better than we did in the first leg, play out well from the back and apply a better press. In the build-up to a game, I usually focus on the things that we have to do and not on what we have to avoid.

“When we lose, we lose as a group. Our objective is to remain in what’s a very important competition for this club and we’ve got the same to lose: being knocked out of a competition that’s very important to us. This season goes on after this and let’s hope we’re still in the Champions League. I’m certain that we will be, but PSG will be thinking exactly the same.

“Applying a high press is part of a defensive mechanism. When you play against the likes of Mbappé and Neymar, you’ve got to be very wary and I think that the fans will have a very important role to play tomorrow. In that sense, we want to produce a performance that the fans want to see and that’s what we’ll do.”

  • La Liga: Nothing personal against Hazard – Ancelotti

La Liga: Nothing personal against Hazard – Ancelotti

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti insists there’s no issues around Eden Hazard.

However, Ancelotti says the Belgian hasn’t done enough to warrant a start.

He said, “When I say that nothing has happened, I’m referring to his personal situation and the relationship. Nothing has happened in terms of his fitness, he’s fine and is training well. Besides that, there’s another decision I have to make.

“The fact that Hazard doesn’t play in a particular game is because I choose to play another player, but Hazard against Elche and scored. He’s played when I believed that he could help the team and he has done that. However, it’s nothing to do with his fitness or for personal reasons, we’re not hiding anything here.”

Ancelotti on Hazard: I’ve never forced a player to stay, he can leave

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti insists he’d never keep a player against his will.

Asked specifically about whether he would allow a player who is not performing at their best, such as Eden Hazard, to leave if he asked, the Italian was firm.

“I have never in my coaching career forced a player who wants to leave to stay,” Ancelotti said during Friday’s pre-match press conference.

“In my personal opinion, there is no question about it. If a player wants to leave, he is going to leave.

“There is not much doubt about this…”

  • La Liga: Real Madrid deserved Espanyol defeat – Ancelotti

La Liga: Real Madrid deserved Espanyol defeat – Ancelotti

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti questioned their attitude after defeat at Espanyol.

If the Champions League loss to Sheriff could be dismissed as bad luck or a mere slip-up, the defeat at the RCDE Stadium was far more concerning.

“We played badly, there’s not much more to say. We began the game with an idea, but we weren’t able to stay calm and stick with it,” said Ancelotti after the game.

“After the goal there was a lot of confusion. It was our worst game [of the season so far].

“Now we have the international break and we have to reflect and find out why the team’s attitude changed in a week.”

The Italian went on to explain what he meant by that attitude change and it was clear he was far from impressed with his players on Sunday.

“I noticed [the change in attitude] today,” said Ancelotti.

“We weren’t very aggressive, we lost out in duels.

“I’m referring to the technical and tactical aspect of the game.”

In an honest reflection on the game, Ancelotti was clear that Real Madrid deserved nothing from the game and that it hadn’t gone according to plan.

“We deserved the defeat, our reaction came too late and we are concerned, because it isn’t usual for us to lose two games [in a row],” said Ancelotti.

“Our plan was clear, I’m not going to explain now what it was.

“But it’s true that we seemed disorganised and we didn’t control the ball well.”

UCL: Real Madrid coach urges calm after Sheriff shock

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti urged cam after their shock 2-1 Champions League defeat at home to Sheriff Tiraspol.

The visitors jumped to a 1-0 lead, but a strong second half from Los Blancos, including a Karim Benzema penalty conversion, had everyone believing that the 13-time European champions would pull through.

But the match was turned on its head by a wonder goal from Sebastien Thill to secure the 2-1 win.

Ancelotti said: “We’re feeling down rather than being worried because we had the chance to have got the three points. The team did its job and played with great intensity and commitment and the fine margins have ended up costing us the game. We had lots of chances and could have done better in the final 30 metres. It’s difficult to explain the defeat when you look at the performance we put in.

“This could be a good lesson for the future. We’re talking about a defeat when the team didn’t deserve to lose, given how we performed. Sheriff defended really well and were tight at the back. We linked up well and broke through their backline many times and sent over many crosses. Where we let ourselves down was on the fine details. We’ve lost the game because we had a bit of bad luck.”

Ancelotti was booked during the game and added: “It was something with the fourth official, because I felt he didn’t show me enough respect. At the end, I told him that I’d managed 130 Champions League matches and it was the first time I had been booked for doing nothing. He told me I had gone onto the pitch, but the game had stopped because they were checking the VAR system.

“It’s a lack of respect and I told him so and I also told the delegate. I don’t want to speak about the refereeing.”

Ancelotti explains Odegaard move for Arsenal

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti insists Martin Odegaard leaves with his best wishes.

Odegaard was signed permanently by Arsenal last week.

Ancelotti reflected: “When I spoke to him, I spoke about the competition, then he spoke to his family and then he signed for a big club.

“I think he will flourish and I wish him good luck.”

Real did not hand Odegaard a squad number for the new season before his departure for London.
