Two new signings to leave Barca this month

Two new Barcelona players Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie could be on the move out of the La Liga club.

ESPN says Christensen and Kessie have clauses in their contracts to terminate their Barcelona deals before making their debut.

The Bosman duo both agreed the option to rip up their contracts if the club failed to register them for LaLiga this month.

Barcelona have so far been unable to register any new signings due to a disagreement with LaLiga over the value of the ‘levers’ deployed, aka assets such as TV rights sold to private companies.

It is thought both Kessie and Christensen do not want to end their Barcelona stay so early even though both stand to miss the weekend’s LaLiga opener versus Rayo Vallecano.

  • Christensen, Drinkwater released by Chelsea football club

Chelsea players Christensen and Danny Drinkwater, are on the list of released by the London clubside. Their names have been submitted to the English premier League board.

The Danish international is being linked with a move to La Liga giants Barcelona.

The statement read in part: “Andreas Christensen’s Chelsea contract expires this summer, bringing to an end his 10 years as a Blue, during which he graduated from our Academy and subsequently secured a regular place in our senior squad, playing 161 games

“He would experience success in the FA Cup, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and, most memorably, the Champions League. He came off the bench in the first half of the final in Porto last year and was crucial to our defensive efforts as we overcame Manchester City.

“Christensen’s Chelsea story began in 2012 when he arrived from Brondby in his native Denmark. He enjoyed instant success in our Academy, reaching two finals in his first season and then winning two trophies, the FA Youth Cup and the Under-21 Premier League, in his second.

“Shortly after his 17th birthday he was named on the bench for the final game of the 2012/13 Premier League campaign, a win against Everton, and he was then involved in a post-season tour to the USA.

“His involvement with Jose Mourinho’s squad stepped up in 2014/15, and Christensen was handed his Chelsea debut in a fourth-round League Cup victory at Shrewsbury. He played the full 90 minutes at right-back and performed a similar role in the FA Cup fourth round against Bradford.

“Christensen continued to play his part for our Academy teams, excelling as we won the UEFA Youth League for the first time. A good third year at Chelsea concluded with a Premier League bow against Sunderland on the day we lifted the title, and then a senior Denmark debut in a friendly against Montenegro.”

UCL: Chelsea defender sends warning to Real Madrid

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen insists their Champions League quarterfinal against Real Madrid isn’t over.

Chelsea go to Spain for the second-leg trailing 3-1 on aggregate.

“We weren’t at our top level,” Christensen told the club’s website.

“We started good for 10 or 15 minutes, good energy with the crowd behind us – and they stayed behind us the whole game – but they successfully took the tempo out of the game.

“We have conceded seven goals now in two games which is not normal for us. It’s not just about this game, we did it as well at the weekend. We have to fix it, and we have to do it quick.”

Christensen knows they have a mountain to climb but he also pointed out Chelsea are fortunate the away-goal rule is no longer in operation.

“It’s two goals, it’s still going to be very difficult, but it can’t be worse than this. We have to go there and make a big performance.

“We have to try and turn it around but it’s going to be difficult. We weren’t on top and we know that, but we have nothing to lose so we have to go there, put in a big performance and hopefully turn it around.”

REVEALED: Chelsea defender passed ‘secret’ Barca medical

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has passed a “secret” Barcelona medical, it has been revealed.

The Dane is off contract at Chelsea this summer and has been in talks with Barca about a Bosman move.

Okdiario’s chief pundit Eduardo Inda, speaking on El Chiringuito, has revealed Christensen is closing on a move to the Nou Camp.

He said: “They tell me that this Monday a Chelsea footballer who wants Barça has passed the medical examination in London, in secret.

“He is Danish, central and his name is Andreas Christensen.

“The (Cesar) Azpilicueta thing is more complicated because he has an optional season (with Chelsea). The departure of Christensen, that of (Toni) Rüdiger and that of Azpilicueta would leave Chelsea without a defence.”
