Oleksandr Usyk leads, Joshua, Wilder close behind him in world ranking

WBA, IBF and WBO belt holder  Oleksandr Usyk has been rated champion by Ring Magazine while Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder were ranked first and second runners up respectively.

Despite recording back-to-back loses and losing three in his last five, Anthony Joshua the British boxer of Nigerian descent is still being highly rated by Ring Magazine.

WBC Champion, Tyson Fury missed out on the rankings after announcing his retirement from the sport few months ago precisely in August.

Although, Fury has since come out of retirement, he hasn’t had any fight since he last defeated Deontay Wilder in a trilogy battle.

Joshua suffered his second consecutive defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in September, which has put him out of the heavyweight world title picture for the first time in several years.

Ring Magazine only listed WBA, IBF and WBO belts holder, Oleksandr Usyk as the champion but not ranked.

Meanwhile, Fury announced he had retired from the sport after his successful title defence against Wilder but has now announced he will return to the ring in  December.

Fury’s on-off retirement from the sport appears to be the reason he has been left out of the Ring Magazine rankings with the likes of Whyte and Luis Ortiz making the top 10 ahead of him in fifth and sixth respectively. Joshua tops the pile having recently fought for the title belt against Usyk.

The Ring Magazine belt is not a typical world title like the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO, but regarded as a prestigious trophy handed out only when the best fight the best

The Magazine may consider ranking Fury again if his purported bout with Dillian Whyte sees the light of the day in December.

Fury vs Joshua: Promoter Hearn says All British bout is cancelled

Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that the much-anticipated bout between Anthony Joshau and Tyson Fury has been cancelled after both sides failed to reach an agreement.

Hearn stated that the bout could still happen much later but insists the December 3rd date has been canceled.

“As far as we’re concerned the fight’s off. We’re happy to continue the discussions,” Hearn said to Sky Sports.

Hearn believes that Fury never really wanted the Joshua fight as he kept offering contracts to other fighters including Derek Chisora.

“In our mind, he is not fighting Anthony Joshua. We’re more than happy to continue those conversations, but what we have been told is the deadline is passed and so have the entire country. We have sent the final version of the contract back, they’ve come back with points and we were told that the fight is off by the man himself.

“They gave us terms ultimately and a date they thought we wouldn’t accept. We did accept that. We were ready to go. If they were to sign the contract on Monday, they had a fight. We were asked to agree on the deal by Monday, then we were asked to agree to it by Wednesday. We got the comments back on Wednesday.”

Hearn was annoyed by Fury’s deadlines and the insults he directed at his client.

“We were never going to sign the fight then, and we were told the fight’s off. It’s still there. It’s still open for discussion. But we’re not going to play a game with a bloke that’s just coming out telling Joshua it’s off, and then he’s a dosser, he’s got to sign it, etc. Have your fight if you fight someone else and we’ll do our thing and we’ll see what happens.”

He accused Fury of trying to woo another less appealing match-up amid his talks with Joshua,

“At the weekend or Friday, Derek Chisora received a contract for the Tyson Fury fight.

“So have other fighters, so in our mind he’s not fighting Joshua.”

Fury had issued a surprising challenge to the British-Nigerian following Joshua’s failed attempts at winning back his belts from Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and boxing fans had looked forward to the fight slated for December 3 in Cardiff

Fury vs Joshua: Promoters ignore Fury’s cancellation, insist bout will happen

The much anticipated all-British clash between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury may still see the light of the day following assurances from the promoters of the two British heavyweight boxers.

The promoters Eddie Hearn (Joshua) and Frank Warren (Fury) assured the bout will happen despite being already called -off by Tyson Fury on Monday evening over his proposed opponent’s refusal to fight.

Fury had set a Monday 5 pm deadline for Joshua and his team to agree on terms on the Dec 3 fight.

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn had described the deadline as ridiculous but, when it passed, Fury called the fight off on his social media in a video calling Joshua names.

But talks are ongoing between Hearn and Fury’s promoter Frank Warren behind the scenes as well as the pair’s legal teams in the hope of getting an official contract signed with the terms having already been agreed.

Warren said, “We’re not that far away from Dec 3. We’ve got to get it up on sale. The venue’s booked but there’s a lot of organization involved.

“We’re working very hard to get it over the line. Tyson has told me what he wants. They’ve had the contract for 10 days and he’s lost patience with it. We’re trying to make it work. We’re waiting for the contract to come back.”

Warren and Hearn have rarely seen eye-to-eye as rival promoters but Hearn said on Twitter, “I agree with Frank”, referring to Warren’s comments about the ongoing talks between the two rival camps.

According to Hearn, the promoters and broadcasters are working hard to finalize Joshua and Fury’s fight and fielded several ‘positive’ phone calls on Monday.

Hearn reiterates that there has been no talk of deadline between both parties insinuating that Fury acted on his own.

Fury vs Joshua: Uncertainty hovers over all British heavyweight battle

Tyson Fury has declared that the much-anticipated bout between him and Anthony Joshua has been canceled following Joshua’s refusal to sign the contract papers.

Fury had threatened to call off the bout if the contract papers are not signed by 5 pm on Monday,

Joshua said on Sunday he will sign the contract to fight Fury after the WBC champion issued an ultimatum if they are to put together their all-British heavyweight battle this year.

According to Skysports, Fury, who initially called for Joshua to sign the contract by Monday, returned to Instagram to state that Joshua had until 5 pm otherwise he will walk away from the deal.

However, Fury on Monday on Instagram declared that the fight is cancelled  “It’s official. D Day has come and gone. It’s gone past 5 pm Monday, no contract has been signed. It’s officially over for Joshua. He’s now out in the cold with the wolfpack. Forget about it. Idiot. Coward!”

He further revealed that he knew Joshua was going to chicken out.
“I always knew you didn’t have the minerals to fight the Gypsy King. Good luck with your career, and your life.”

Joshua had assured Fury on Sunday that he would sign the contract, saying: “It’s not in my hands, it’s with the legal team. That’s why you hire lawyers. You know the history of boxing, make sure you get your legal terms right.

“Of course, I’m going to sign a contract. It’s just with some lawyers at the minute.”

Fury may still fight before the end of the year, but the undisputed showdown with WBO, WBA, and IBF titlist Oleksandr Usyk will have to wait until next year.

Fury lambasts Joshua, Usyk in new online video

WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury has vented his anger on British boxer, Anthony Joshua and Ukrainian boxer, Oleksandr Usyk in a video that has now gone viral.

Fury accused Joshua and his management of not signing contract papers for the December 3rd bout in Cardiff, thereby casting doubt about the proposed fight.

Meanwhile, the WBC heavyweight world champion has fired back at the Ukrainian who this week accused him of being afraid of an undisputed title fight between them.

Recall that Usyk had accused Fury of being afraid to face him, hence his resolve to ask Joshua for a fight.

Usyk said “Despite his toughness and how he is generally described, he is afraid. Yes, of me.”

Fury fires back, “Usyk, middleweight, you say you want the WBC, well it’s held by the Gypsy King, and it’s held tightly.

Usyk – you little s***house, you little s***bag. Talking s***e, I’m afraid of you? I’ll put my fist right through the side of you, you are little sausage.

And the other s***house, that big bodybuilder Joshua, that’s a proper s***house that it. Had the contract for I don’t know how long and ain’t signing it. You little sausage, you do not wanna fight, your manager’s a sausage.

The Gypsy King has also now claimed that he does not believe Joshua will sign the contract to fight him next on December 3 casting doubts over the possibility of the ‘Battle of Britain’.

Joshua had verbally accepted the 60/40 0ffer from Fury but the agreement has not been made official yet by his camp.

  • British boxing legend, David Haye tips Joshua to defeat Fury

British boxing legend, David Haye tips Joshua to defeat Fury

Boxing legend and two-weight champion,  David Haye, has explained that British boxer of Nigerian descent, Anthony Joshua has what it takes to defeat Tyson Fury on December 3rd in Cardiff.

Haye hinted that Anthony Joshua is the only one with the physical tools to knock Tyson Fury out.

The pair is set to meet in a £75m Battle of Britain world heavyweight showdown in Cardiff on December 3 with Fury’s WBC title on the line.

Haye is of the opinion that Joshua has what it takes to inflict first professional defeat among everyone else in the heavyweight division.

The Brit said, “If anyone has the physical tools to beat Fury, the No.1 monster in the heavyweight division, then it is AJ.

“Many years ago, Fury and Joshua sparred and AJ got the better of him.

“If AJ can be strong, fast and aggressive against Fury, then he has a chance of surprising everyone.”

That 2010 session at Joshua’s Finchley club saw the Watford novice shake Fury with an upper cut during a sparring session.

Now Joshua, 32, is desperate to take the Gypsy King’s WBC crown after failing to regain his WBA, IBF and WBO belts in his rematch defeat to Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk last month.

“The world will have him as the underdog but for the first time ever the pressure will be totally off him and all on Fury,” Haye added.

Although, the management of the two boxers have not officially reached an agreement concerning the bout, reports say that it’s already sealed but just waiting for an official announcement.

Promoter Frank Warren revealed in his column for the Star, “The contracts have been sent to Anthony Joshua’s team.

“Now we wait for them to go through them and sign so we can get one of British boxing’s biggest events on.

“All our side is on board for this fight. Tyson Fury is eager for it as he showed last week by calling out his fellow Brit.”

With Fury and Joshua hard at work in the gym, time is running out for the duo to sign a deal for a fight.

Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast, Fight Night host Gareth Davies said he had a chat with Fury’s sparring partner Joseph Parker who revealed the WBC champion was already at camp for a potential “Battle of Britain” with Joshua.

“What we heard from Joseph Parker is that Tyson Fury is in camp now and training hard,” Davies told talkSPORT.

“Even though we haven’t had that announcement yet as to whether that final deal on the fight with Joshua has been signed for December 3 in Cardiff.

“I’m skeptical at this point, I’m afraid,” Davies added. “They need to get this fight over quickly, because we’re only a few months away.”

Anthony Joshua has lost three of his last fights including back to back losses to Ukraine’s boxer, Oleksandr Usyk.

David Deron Haye is a British former professional boxer who competed between 2002 and 2018. He held multiple world championships in two weight classes, and was the first British boxer to reach the final of the World Amateur Boxing Championships, where he won a silver medal in 2001

  • Wilder’s trainer, Malik Scott tips Joshua to beat Tyson Fury

Wilder’s trainer, Malik Scott tips Joshua to beat Tyson Fury

Deontay Wilder’s head trainer Malik Scott has noted that Anthony Joshua is capable of defeating Tyson Fury in their December 3rd fight in Cardiff.

Wilder and Fury slugged it out three times with the latter not beaten on those occassions.

In their triology bout which took place last October, Fury survived two  knockdown before stopping Wilder with a left jab in the  round 11.

However, Joshua has been tagged the underdog in the December encounter owing to his back to back losses against world champion Oleksandr Usyk.

According to Malik Scott, Joshua stands a chance against Fury and full of optimism that he could spring a surprise by knocking him down.

“It’s a great time for AJ to take the Fury fight. I believe AJ is in a mindset that he has something to prove. He wants to get back up on the horse. He wants to go again. Tyson and him have always wanted to fight each other, the big question, is it really going to happen? I mean, nowadays we’re just in the place where there is so much business and people are so selfish and everyone wants to be greedy,” Scott said to Fair Betting Sites.

“But what I like the most and what you have to give AJ credit for is he said whatever deal that they’re offering. You have to respect that, absolutely. He said whatever deal they offer me, I’ll take. He believes he can beat Tyson Fury. I believe AJ believes he can beat Tyson Fury.”

“It’s a tough job for AJ but in my opinion, he has a pedigree, he has a gold medal, he has ability. AJ can punch, he’s a strong kid. He’s big. It can almost come across, when you think about all those attributes, like, hold up, this is Anthony Joshua. Let’s back up. How could he not win? I think personally the people who are giving him no shot at all are crazy. I think people who are giving AJ no shot at all – that’s blasphemous. I do not agree with that at all,” Scott added.

“Fury’s been on fire. He’s been smoking everybody. Yeah, but he’s also more vulnerable than he’s ever been. Fury also gives you an opportunity to hit him more than he ever did too, and in the heavyweight division, I just can’t have full confidence in someone that gives you an opportunity to hit them, I just can’t do that. He said it himself, he’s very vulnerable. He’s very vulnerable as a fighter. But that’s what makes him exciting as well.”

Joshua vs Fury: Clash of the titans to hold December 3rd in Cardiff

The much anticipated bout between World Boxing Council’s  (WBC) heavyweight belt holder Tyson Fury and Britain’s Anthony Joshua will now hold on September 3 in Cardiff the capital of Wales.

Recall that Fury called out Joshua in a viral video saying that he wished that both boxers can slug it out before the year winds down.

Fury offered his compatriot Joshua 40 per cent of a potential £75million fight purse, which Joshua  and his manager later considered.

The date of the bout was initially a contest between both boxers with Fury insisting the fight was held on November 26 at Wembley or on December 3 at the Principality Stadium in the Welsh capital, but Joshua wanted December 17 a week before Christmas.

However, all that has been settled as both boxers have agreed to mount the rings on the 3rd of December in what has been dubbed the clash of the titans.

Fury had planned to fight Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed fight in December but the Ukrainian revealed he will not be ready until February or March, which saw Fury turn his attention to Joshua who lost to Usyk last month in their Saudi Arabian rematch.

One remaining issue which could delay an official announcement is the broadcast situation. Fury is tied to BT Sport who will insist on showing the fight on their Box Office arm, while Joshua signed an exclusive deal with DAZN before his second successive defeat by Usyk.

Both boxers have started training ahead of the December 3rd bout but official announcement of the fight have not been made public by the management of the two heavyweight boxers.

  • Fury, Joshua may cancel fight over disagreement in date

Fury, Joshua may cancel fight over disagreement in date

The clash of the titans battle between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua may be experiencing some hiccups over a disagreement in date.

Fury has addressed Joshua in a video message as negotiations over the date for an all-British blockbuster fight continue.

Fury has made another video asking Anthony Joshua to accept the fight on his terms and conditions after offering him a chance at the championship belt again, insinuating that he’s doing Joshua a favour.

Fury further added that Joshua is not showing enough seriousness about the fight and this may scuttle the fight

Earlier this week, it emerged that Joshua had reportedly accepted Fury’s offer ahead of a proposed fight at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Fury revealed that he has offered Joshua a 60:40 split for a potential fight.

Joshua wants the fight to be held on the 17th of December whilst Fury wants the fight to happen earlier for him to be eligible to fight again in March against possible opposition Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury posted on his Twitter handle accusing Joshua of keeping mute over his request for an earlier date in the fight,

His post reads “AJ, I still haven’t heard from you. I am going to do a video every hour for the full day until you agree or don’t agree. And just to clarify, there has never been a December 17 fight, ever. There’s only ever been November 26 at Wembley or December 3.

“This is it AJ, Eddie – don’t get scared now. Agree to the fight and let’s give the fans what they want. Go time.

  • Joshua vs Fury: Clash of the titans to hold in December

Joshua vs Fury: Clash of the titans to hold in December

Anthony Joshua’s acceptance to fight Tyson Fury has paved the way for the biggest fight in heavyweight history in Britain.

Tyson Fury called out Anthony Joshua for a fight before considering any challenge with WBO, IBO, IBF title holder Oleksandr Usyk.

Joshua was offered a 40 percent split of what would be a record-breaking haul to fight the Gypsy King.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren said he would be sending Joshua an official letter for a fight with Fury soon.

A date in early November was initially put on the table, but Joshua can only return by December at the earliest following last month’s defeat to Usyk.

Fury also wants to include a rematch clause and Joshua’s team is happy with the terms, as long as they get the lion’s share for the second fight if they win in December.

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed they are willing to take the deal on offer after talks with Frank Warren’s son George.

He told iFL TV on Thursday, “We just went back this (Thursday) morning and said I spoke to AJ about that offer, we think, I think particularly he deserves more than 40 percent.

“But, he’s happy. And I don’t make the decisions, he does. So, I went back this morning and said, ‘We accept 60/40’.

“We want that reversed in the rematch, rightfully so, because you’re champion here, you want the bigger split, which I think is fair.

“And we want to do the fight in December. Now, interestingly, they have December 17th, Queensberry held at the Millennium, so that’s perfect.”

Fury initially wanted to fight WBA, IBF, and WBO champion Usyk, who beat Joshua twice in the space of 11 months.

It would have been the heavyweight division’s first four-belt undisputed title decider.

But Fury wants to return to the ring by the end of the year and therefore turned his attention to Joshua.

However, despite having December 17th held, Fury has appeared to tell Joshua there are only two dates he’ll fight. He claimed on talkSPORT that November 26 at Wembley or December 3 in Cardiff are the dates on offer

He said, “I have Nov 26th at Wembley or Dec 3rd. One is 11 weeks, and one is 12 weeks.

“If a professional athlete who’s shredded all year round can’t get himself in shape in three months, there’s a problem.”

”Joshua, 32, was set to return before the end of the year against an opponent ranked within the world’s top 15.

”But plans to build back steadily could be cast aside if the chance to challenge for Fury’s WBC belt goes from longshot to reality.

Anthony Joshua has lost three times in his last five outings in the heavyweight division losing out his belts to Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk.
