Screening: Police disperse protesters at APC secretariat in Rivers

All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat along Woji Road, GRA, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was on Wednesday rocked by gunshots and protest during party screening.

Findings show that hundreds of Senator Magnus Abe’s loyalists thronged the venue and claiming that the screening exercise has been hijacked and compromised .

The aggrieved party members said they arrived at the secretariat around 6:00 am only to meet the gate under lock and key.

But, trouble started when some of the youths attempted to force open the gates which prompted the policemen stationed inside the party secretariat to shoot into the air.

The shooting caused pandemonium in the area as journalists covering the protesters and newsmen covering the event scampered for safety.
Recall that the APC screening exercise into various positions ahead of the 2023 general elections has begun nationwide.

2023 Elections: Goodluck Jonathan campaign posters flood Abuja

Former Nigeria’s president Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign posters have flooded the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja fueling insinuations the Bayelsa politician may run in the 2023 elections.

The campaign posters, have big pictures of the former President, with an inscription, “Goodluck Jonathan You Must Run”

Meanwhile, some observers believed that the former president who had just one term may have kickstarted his campaign plans to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29th, 2023.

Findings show that the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) along with some APC governors paid a courtesy visit to the former president last year, in a bid to woo him to APC

It was alleged that the visit to Goodluck Jonathan was an attempt to have him contest in the 2023 general elections under the auspices of APC but the allegations have been vehemently denied by the now moribund CECPC.
