In a statement issued by his spokesman, Pastor Gbenga Ogunleye, on Thursday in Lagos,  Adediran said he was received by  GAC members led by Prince Tajudeen Olusi.

“In a significant show of unity and goodwill, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, Jandor, was warmly received by the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC) Chairman, Prince Tajudeen Olusi;  Badagry Division Apex Leader of APC and fellow GAC member, Chief Rabiu Oluwa; Sen. Edo PDP drags APC chairman to court over secretariat

The Edo Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has dragged the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jarret Tenebe, to court over alleged takeover PDP secretariat

The PDP accused APC Chairman of the alleged invasion, eviction, and unlawful takeover of the PDP’s secretariat located at No. 49, Airport Road, Benin.

The PDP is asking the court to issue a perpetual injunction restraining Tenebe and his agents from further trespassing or disrupting activities at the secretariat premises.

In the writ of summons from the Chamber of A.O. Edeko and Co, released to newsmen on Wednesday in Benin, the PDP demanded over N900 million in damages, including N300 million in special damages.

The special damages relate to office equipment, including computers, generators, laptops, and other valuables allegedly carted away or destroyed during the alleged forceful takeover of the party’s premises.

The PDP further prayed the court for “a declaration that it remains the rightful occupant of No. 49, Airport Road, Benin, having leased same lawfully.

The lease, it noted, was executed with Mr. Enoma Agbontaen, the landlord, remained valid and legally binding between the parties as of the date.

It also prayed for “a declaration that the violent eviction of the claimant and its staff from the premises constitutes an act of unlawful trespass under law.

The PDP stated that the forceful eviction on January 16, 2025, breached its right to quiet enjoyment of its rented property located on Airport Road.

It, therefore, asked for general damages of N500 million for the violation of its tenancy rights and the unlawful disruption of its activities.

It also sought “an order for payment of N322,765, as special damages for office equipment destroyed and carted away during the (alleged) illegal invasion of its property.

These items allegedly taken included computers, generators, laptops, printers, and several essential office items, which the Defendant and his hired agents allegedly looted and vandalized.

The total for thirty days amounted to N90,000,, while it further asked for N5,000 daily from February 13, 2025, until judgment was delivered.

The party also sought “an order granting and restoring the Claimant’s rights to possess and occupy No. 49, Airport Road, Benin City, Edo State.

The PDP asked the court for “a perpetual injunction restraining the Defendant, his agents, servants, or persons acting on his behalf from further trespassing or interfering with the property.”

  • Tinubu’s success is undeniable, needs no opposition validation – APC replies Peter Obi

Tinubu’s success is undeniable, needs no opposition validation – APC replies Peter Obi

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has hit back at Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, after he criticized President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday.

Obi, in the interview, claimed that the Tinubu administration had underperformed in implementing key economic reforms and suggested that he would have done better in steering the nation’s economic course. However, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, swiftly rebutted these claims in a press statement released on April 2, 2025.

According to Morka, it was “painful to watch” Obi’s attempt to challenge the progress made under President Tinubu’s leadership, accusing the former governor of desperately grasping for critical economic arguments that simply did not exist in light of the administration’s undeniable success.

“The steady progress of the Tinubu administration across sectors is undeniable and evident for all Nigerians to see,” Morka stated. He added that Obi’s attempts to sensationalize transient difficulties faced by Nigerians were nothing more than politically motivated attempts to score cheap points.

Morka took particular issue with Obi’s repeated refrain, “I would have done better as president,” describing it as a symptom of “a protracted bout of election failure-induced hangover.”

The APC spokesperson emphasized that opposition politics should involve constructive critique, not blanket condemnation aimed at undermining the administration’s achievements.

The statement further criticized Obi’s record as governor of Anambra, calling his tenure one of “economic stagnation, infrastructural decay, ecological disaster, and religious polarization.” The APC argued that Obi’s record in Anambra was far from one that could be used to justify his criticism of Tinubu’s performance.

In stark contrast, the APC highlighted several accomplishments under President Tinubu, including a rebounding economy, a steady growth forecast of 3.6 percent for the fiscal year, a strengthened foreign reserve, and a stabilized forex market. The administration has also made significant strides in the oil sector, surpassing OPEC quotas with oil production exceeding 1.8 million barrels per day, and addressing longstanding economic challenges such as the $7 billion forex backlog.

Morka pointed to several key reforms including the reduction of the Ways and Means debt from over $30 billion to more manageable levels, the successful harmonization of exchange rates, and the revitalization of the nation’s stock exchange market, which has become one of the most profitable in the world.

The statement concluded by reaffirming President Tinubu’s commitment to improving governance and the overall economic well-being of Nigerians, stressing that he remains undistracted by opposition criticism.

“While global institutions and experts are applauding the unfolding economic revolution led by President Tinubu, Obi and his opposition cohorts continue to deny the reality of his successes,” Morka said. “President Tinubu remains focused on securing good governance and a brighter future for all Nigerians.”

  • Opposition planning to instigate crisis in Edo, APC alleges

Opposition planning to instigate crisis in Edo, APC alleges

The Edo chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm that some major opposition political parties are planning to instigate crisis in the state and make it ungovernable.

The state APC Chairman, Mr Jarret Tenebe, raised the alarm during a news conference on Tuesday in Abuja.

“It has come to our attention that the leadership of some major opposition parties in our state, along with two others, has devised a reckless and dangerous plot to instigate crisis and make Edo ungovernable,” he said.

Tenebe alleged that the aim of those behind the plot was to force President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in the state.

“Their sinister objective is clear: they want to force President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in Edo, because they have no confidence in securing victory at the Edo Election Petition Tribunal.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the tribunal will, on Wednesday, deliver judgment in the petition filed by the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, against the outcome of the Sept. 21, 2024 governorship election in the state.

The APC chairman alleged that the opposition, in their desperation, had resorted to acts of sabotage, hoping to manipulate public perception and judicial sentiment in their favour.

As part of their plans, he said that they had enlisted some disbanded members of the State Security Network to orchestrate violence, as seen in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area.

“Their aim is to falsely implicate the state government in these disruptions, creating a narrative that fosters chaos and sympathy for their failed cause,” he said.

Tenebe called for the arrest of some of the opposition party leaders in the state over the recent killings of 16 people in Uromi.

He said that the call for their arrest was premised on the intelligence report before APC which allegedly indicted them.

“Their recent criticism of Gov. Monday Okpebholo for travelling to Kano State to condole with victims’ families has further exposed their involvement in the Uromi mayhem,” he said.

He accused the opposition of hypocrisy and desperation, adding that the governor and APC in the state would not be deceived by their antics.

Tenebe also alleged that some opposition members outside the country were instigating violence in the state.

“As a political party, we are going to formally write to foreign missions, embassies and other international bodies to extradite these fellows who keep inciting the public to commit acts of terrorism.

“They must be repatriated to Nigeria in order to face terrorism charges.

“Let me make it categorically clear: no amount of blackmail, intimidation or desperate orchestration will stop our governor from emerging victorious at the tribunal on Wednesday.

“The people of Edo have spoken, and their mandate will not be stolen through underhand tactics.

“Their antics will not weaken us; rather, it will make Edo stronger. We will continue to stand firm in defence of democracy, justice and rule of law,” he said.

The APC chairman also said that since coming on board, the governor had been tackling insecurity in the state, making it to become a thing of the past.

He said that Okpebholo had procured some security gargets, Hilux vehicles and drones, among others, which had been distributed to security agencies to aid in apprehending the criminals operating in the state.

According to him, the Okpebholo-led administration will not rest on its oars until the state is totally free from every form of crime and criminality and residents, irrespective of their religious and ethnic affiliations, begin to live in peace.

He appealed to the APC faithful in the state to remain calm, as they await the tribunal judgment on Wednesday.

“Our lawyers did a very good job. We also believe in the judiciary and we believe that the tribunal is going to do justice to the matter,” he said.

Speaking at the APC Secretariat in Calabar, the party’s Chairman, Mr Alphonsus Eba, urged other party members aspiring for political positions to begin their consultations.

Eba clarified that apart from the governor and his deputy, no other individual had been given an automatic ticket by the party.

He encouraged other aspirants to return to their constituents and seek their support ahead of the elections.

“The State Working Committee and the State Executive Committee of APC met today and resolved that Governor Otu will be the party’s sole candidate in 2027,” he said.

He explained that the decision was based on the principle of continuity, stating, “Nobody changes a winning team. The governor and his deputy will fly the party’s flag in 2027.”

He added that even if Otu was reluctant to run, the party would still present only one ticket with his name, as was done in 2022.

“We appeal to him to listen to the desires of party members and accept the nomination,” Eba stated.

He also praised the deputy governor, currently acting as governor, for supporting President Bola Tinubu’s actions in Rivers.

Eba noted that some individuals had misrepresented the state’s position. He commended the acting governor for clarifying that South-South governors had not consulted him before opposing Tinubu’s decision.

He applauded the President for restoring peace in Rivers, preventing a political crisis.

  • APC chairman explains necessity for emergency rule in Rivers

APC chairman explains necessity for emergency rule in Rivers

Mr Tony Okocha, Chairman Rivers All Progressives Congress (APC), says the declaration of emergency rule in Rivers by President Bola Tinubu saved the state from situations of anarchy.

Okocha said that the situation in Rivers was moving towards a state of lawlessness with non-state actors brandishing sophisticated weapons before the declaration.

While speaking on Thursday in Abuja, he said FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, contrary to speculations, was also involved in brokering peace in the state.

He said that the President had made efforts to resolve the political crisis before the declaration of the emergency, but to no avail.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Tinubu had declared a six months state of emergency on Rivers, citing political instability and troubling security reports.

Tinubu said that security reports revealed pipeline vandalism by militants, with no intervention from the state government.

The President subsequently appointed retired Vice-Adm. Ibok-Ete Ibas as Sole Administrator to oversee Rivers’ affairs during the emergency.

Okocha, citing the supreme court judgment ahead of the declaration, said that Rivers as the court ruled, had no government prior to it.

“The governor jettisoned 27 lawmakers and was dealing with only three lawmakers and withheld the finances of the State Assembly which was abnormal.

“Pulling down the State Assembly under the guise of renovating it following structural defect without a prior notice was an afront on democracy.

“Before the declaration of the emergency, Rivers was heading towards anarchy as non-state actors were seen brandishing sophisticated weapons,” Okocha said.

He said that it was a good thing that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had gone to the supreme Court to challenge the declaration, adding that it would enrich the country’ jurisprudence.

The Rivers APC chairman said that the emergency declared on the state was a necessary evil to restore normalcy to it.

“Security intelligence has been beefed up in Rivers since the state of emergency was declared in the state.

“With the emergency declared, people like us who are in the opposition in the state could now move around,” Okocha said.

  • Edo APC accuses PDP of planning to sponsor protests against Okpebholo

Edo APC accuses PDP of planning to sponsor protests against Okpebholo

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Edo Chapter, alleged on Wednesday that it had uncovered a planned protests across the state to destabilise the government of Sen. Monday Okpebholo.

The APC State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, claimed that the protests were being orchestrated by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Tenebe alleged that intelligence reports indicated that the demonstrations were not driven by genuine public concerns, but rather a deliberate attempt to incite unrest.

“We have observed a pattern of misinformation and falsehoods leading up to these planned protests.

“Their real goal is to create tension, sow discord, and undermine the progress made under Gov. Monday Okpebholo,” he said.

While reaffirming Gov. Okpebholo’s commitment to citizens’ constitutional rights to peaceful assembly, the APC chairman warned that any attempt to disrupt the state’s peace and stability would not be tolerated.

He said that law enforcement agencies had been placed on high alert, to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

“We will not allow any individual or group to derail the progress of Edo State,” Tenebe said.

He urged Edo residents to be vigilant and avoid being used as pawns in politically motivated protests.

According to him, the government remains open to addressing genuine concerns, through appropriate channels.

“We encourage citizens with grievances to engage with government agencies, rather than partake in protests designed to serve selfish political interests,” he said.

The APC chairman reaffirmed commitment to supporting Gov. Okpebholo in delivering good governance and urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and focused on development efforts.

Reacting, PDP’s Publicity Secretary, Chris Nehikhare, said that APC must learn to differentiate itself from the government.

Nehikhare said that the party could not assume the authority to issue security alerts, unless the government had officially transferred its security responsibilities to the party.

“We are, however, not surprised by this development, as Edo State is currently under siege.

“The government has provided no clues or indications that it can address the state of insecurity it has imposed on Edo State.

“Unfortunately, in Edo, we have a case of a butterfly that thinks of itself as a bird,” he said.
