Nationwide protest saga: Fayose lists entertainers on APC’s payroll

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has reacted to the public outrage that emanated since he declared support for the 2face led planned nationwide protest.

Speaking through his media aide Lere Olayinka, he outlined entertainers who are on All Progressives Congress(APC)’s payroll.

According to him:”The APC online supporters have warned Tuface against allowing opposition politicians to join the protest. The hypocrisy of these APC people is legendary!”

“Anyway, for the sake of clarity, Fayose only declared support for the rally being an opposition figure! However, If Fayose is one of those bankrolling the protest, so be it!!! I want to say without any fear or favour that 90% of protests staged against Goodluck Jonathan government had financial support from Bourdillon and APC controlled states and I stand corrected.”

“When Tinubu and APC Governors were bankrolling Actors and Actresses such as 9ice (Who later served as Special Adviser to APC Gov. Ajimobi in Oyo), Ronke Oshodi Oke (She’s a member of APC transition committee in Ondo), Dayo Adeneye D1 (current Commissioner for Information in Ogun State) Desmond Elliot (now a member of Lagos State House of Assembly), Jide Josoko (Veteran APC Reps Aspirant from Lagos) etc to stage protest against Jonathan’s government, heaven did not fall.”

“All the aforementioned entertainers were at Freedom Park, Ojota in January 2012 for one week, singing against Jonathan in the presence of Pastor Tunde Bakare of the CPC (now APC) and Dino Melaye; and Heaven did not fall then.”

“Those of you making noise today applauded anti-Jonathan protesters and the opposition politicians supporting them. The then Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi in particular gave N10 million to Occupy Naija members in Ado-Ekiti. So why should Fayose’s case be different? “

  • Obiano does not need APC to win Anambra governorship election – Oye

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Dr Victor Oye, says the party has a strong hold on Anambra to win any election.

He also said that no APGA member needs to leave it for another party before winning an election in Anambra.

Oye, who spoke with the newsmen in Awka on Wednesday, was dispelling the rumour that Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra was decamping from APGA to APC.

The APGA chieftain said that Obiano’s achievement in terms of socio-economic development would give him the ticket during election for second term.

The governorship election would be held in Anambra, which is the only APGA-ruling state, in November.

“It is a deliberate campaign by the detractors of Governor Willie Obiano to smear his integrity and pit him against our party and also use it (to) scatter his supporters and confuse them.

“I wish to state here unequivocally that Gov. Willie Obiano has never expressed any intention to join the APC.

“He doesn’t need APC to win election; he has performed and APGA is the reigning party here. I want to state it here that no party can beat APGA in Anambra state, in any election.

The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has expelled Benibo Anabraba, the Minority Leader in the state House of Assembly, over alleged anti-party activities.

This was contained in a copy of the expulsion letter signed by Chief Davies Ikanya, the APC Chairman in the state, and made available to journalists in Port Harcourt on Monday.

“Therefore, the party pursuant to relevant provisions of the constitution of the APC (Oct. 2014 as amended), particularly Article 21 (A) ii, iii, hereby expels you from the party.”

APC tasks Northwest governors on leadership

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on governors in the Northwest zone to play role of statesmen and provide fair leadership to all, regardless of outlook or affiliation.

Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir, the APC National Vice Chairman, Northwest zone, made the call on Sunday in Katsina at the party’s Stakeholders Consultative meeting.

“There is more to gain from expanding the support base of APC as one solid progressive political movement than getting engrossed in divisive ‘crisis management’ of intraparty squabbles.

“By their singular positions of political leadership, our governors have the wherewithal to cultivate the goodwill, understanding and loyalty of all shades of affiliation in and outside the APC, to buttress their mandate and neutralise any opposition mischief.

“I strongly appeal to APC leaders and supporters in the zone to put all hands on deck in this midterm session so that we can together forge ahead with higher performance ratings and indisputable record of tangible achievement.

“Once we put party interest which is comparable to national interest above any other political consideration whether as leaders or members, all causes of party crises can amicably be resolved,’’ he said.

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Kogi State chapter has lambasted the governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his alleged reckless spending and refusal to pay entitlements of civil servants and pensioners since assuming office a year ago.

“The responsibility of any responsive leader is to be transparent, accountable and justifiable in its financial conducts.

“Governor Yahaya in defiant to this standard rule of good governance has never deemed it necessary to render public account since his assumption of office. All the other Governors that just spent one year in office accounted for their stewardship nationwide.

“This has led to gross public financial failure and reckless spending by the government, as we have it on record that Governor Bello has wasted and lavished over N230bn in one year.

“This represents thirteen months Federal Allocations to the state; N10bn infrastructural development funds, N30bn bailout fund, over N11bn Paris Club excess refund. We also have the N16bn refunded for federal government roads built by the past administration of Alh. Ibrahim Idris, N700m ecological fund.

“All these above exclude an average of N600m internally generated revenue monthly,” the party said.

On the alleged failure to pay state workers and pensioners, the party was furious with the Governor, stressing that such act has made the people of Kogi to start disliking the APC.

“The political leaders of Kogi State and the APC stakeholders have resolved unequivocally to give 4 weeks ultimatum to Governor Yahaya Bello, to reconcile the ongoing staff audit in the state with the realities on ground, pay our civil servants, the pensioners and others,” APC said.

  • I am not in APC, no plans to contest its governorship ticket – Soludo clears air

Former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has dismissed reports that he is contesting the forthcoming Anambra governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Soludo noted that he was not a member of the APC and could not be contesting for its party’s governorship ticket.

TheNewsGuru.com recalls that the state chairman of the party, Mr. Emeka Ibe, yesterday claimed that Soludo was among the contenders for the party’s nomination for the Anambra governorship election.

“We just discovered that Prof Soludo has not registered as a member of our party in his ward. And you know the journey begins from the ward,” he was quoted as saying.

“He is a big friend of us and a big friend to the APC Federal Government, but he must first register at his ward level before any other thing.

“For Mrs Uche Ekwunife, we just discovered that she might not want to run for this year’s governorship in the state.

“For these reasons we have decided to drop their names from the list of the governorship aspirants in the forthcoming election in the state on the platform of our party”, he added.

But Soludo, who expressed surprise at the APC’s claim, said he had received several calls, texts and emails seeking clarification on the matter since appearance of the said publications.

“I also sought and obtained the phone number of the said state chairman and spoke to him in order to ascertain the veracity of the story,” he said in a statement yesterday.

“I wish to clarify that I am not a member of the APC and could therefore not be contesting for its party nomination”, he declared.

  • Southern Kaduna Crisis: Buhari, El-Rufai playing politics with peoples’ lives – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said the wanton killing of Christians by herdsmen in Southern Kaduna has continued unabated as a result of the shabby response and attention President Muhammadu Buhari and the Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai accorded the cries of the hapless victims.

The party was reacting to a recent statement credited to the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity (SSA), Garba Shehu, on a television programme where he was quoted as saying that the killings in Southern Kaduna ‎was partly the fault of the PDP because it was the only Senatorial District in the North West with PDP Senator.

Recall that TheNewsGuru.com had reported the Kaduna State Governor as saying that all those behind the killings will be properly tried and punished according to law.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye and obtained by TheNewsGuru.com on Monday, the party said: “We are baffled that such a callous, irresponsible and insensitive statement could come from a person who speaks for the President of Nigeria.

“This shows the extent to which every issue in the Country today is viewed from the APC’s and the Presidency’s extremely narrow and jaundiced partisan political prism.

“Is Garba Shehu inferring that the hapless people of southern Kaduna were singled out for genocide because they elected a PDP senator? Or that the People invited such mindless violence upon themselves by choosing to be different in a sea of APC domination?”

“It is high time those in authority learned that we cannot reduce everything to partisan politics. You do not play politics with the lives of millions of people. That’s exactly what APC Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el Rufai and President Buhari have been doing with the lives of the people of Southern Kaduna.

“Beyond politics, we are all accountable to God almighty. We once again call for an international inquiry into the Southern Kaduna massacre. We have little faith that those at the helm of affairs at the State and National levels will do justice in the matter.”

Recall also that the TheNewsGuru.com had reported that the governor had begged the Methodist prelate Dr. Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche on Thursday not to relocate the church over the wanton killings saying his government would provide another land for the church and also improve the security of lives and properties in the state.

2019 General Elections: Competent defectors can contest – APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC had said defectors from other political parties that have the required credentials for whatever office they so which to vie for would be allowed to contest on its platform in 2019.

Recall that TheNewsGuru.com had reported that former Senate President, Ken Nnamani on Sunday, in Enugu State, resigned membership of his former political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the APC.

Reacting, APC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, assured that the party would accommodate the defectors.

A report by the Leadership Newspapers quoted Abdullahi as saying: “We are happy that people across the political spectrum are buying into the philosophy of progressive politics.”

“We are aware of some concerns that may arise as a result of this, but we will look into all of them to ensure that all issues are effectively managed.”

Also, deputy national chairman (South), Engr Segun Oni, said the defections into APC will not cause any problems.

“It is our responsibility as a party to ensure that we check for what caused the ‘sunset’, as it were, for the PDP.

“When we were with the party then, most of us were of the opinion that every product has a life cycle and when it reaches a peak, if not properly managed, it can only come down therefrom.

“But as a party, we will take the right lessons and ensure that the issues that the PDP encountered are not replicated in this case”.

On aspirations of the defectors ahead of the 2019 election, Oni said: “In the first case, every member is a member. If you meet the criteria as a bona fide member, you can aspire.

“That is why we have to have the right management culture to be able to screen and field the right persons for the job,” Oni said.

Recall also that TheNewsGuru.com had reported of mass defection of members of the opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP across the country to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC over its leadership crisis.

  • Fayose lacks decorum to lead PDP Governors’ Forum – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State says Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State lacks decorum to function as the Chairman of Governors’ Forum of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

The APC made its stance known in a statement issued in Akure on Monday by its Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Adesanya.

“PDP is on a voyage of total destruction and abandonment with the emergence of uncultured governor like Mr Fayose that lacks decorum, whose past records, attitude and public utterance are seen as affront.

“It shows PDP is lacking in men and women of proven integrity with high level of mental alertness considering the enormous challenges facing our dear country as a result of the PDP’s 16 years of misrule.

“It is unfortunate that Fayose, who was alleged to have beaten up a Judge in his state, who is seen to be suffering from `diarrhea of the mouth’ could be allowed to lead PDP Governors’ Forum,’’ Adesanya said.

He said that the PDP was in comatose under the leadership of the outgoing Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, as the chairman of its governors’ forum

Adesanya advised the opposition party to criticise constructively in the interest of Nigerian democracy and to always propagate good leadership.
