“ARENWe are not strong enough.Mr Macaroni was arrested with other Nigerians. Most youths won’t have called for the release of other protesters if Macaroni wasn’t involved. It is dehumanizing to arrest Nigerian protesting without guns, cutlass”, he noted.

The Saturday protest is staged against the decision of the Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution for Victims of SARS Related Abuses & Lekki Toll Gate Incident to have the Lekki tollgate reopened under the control of the Lekki Concession Company.

The protesters say the tollgate ought to remain under no control until justice is done regarding the lives allegedly lost when soldiers of the Nigerian Army opened fire during the #EndSARS protest on October 20, 2020.

  • Aremu Afolayan blast Buhari, Ambode

…Angry over state of aviation sector

Outspoken actor, Aremu Afolayan on Sunday 11th of November 2018 expressed his rage over the state of the Nigerian aviation sector.

He blamed President Buhari and Governor Ambode of Lagos State for the terrible state of things.

Aremu who took to his Instagram page to share a series of videos where he poured out his mind, noted that he is frustrated with the situation of the country.

According to him:”So frustrated today by the situation of this country, the people working at different parastatals actually think they are some kind of god . Ethiopian airline staffs are so inefficient. They refused to carry a passenger for no reason . The girl in question is not a citizen of Nigeria , she went with her France passport and other documents issued by the France consulate , all they needed to do was to verify the passport but no the manager said he is not comfortable with the passport so she can’t fly with them , he actually dropped the passport and took to his heels . Imagine the immigration saying she should get a Nigerian visa , for what ?I don’t know .

How will you ask her to get a Nigerian visa to go to France , I don’t understand this and I need some explanation, after that they said she should get a Nigerian passport, for what please???this is wrong and I am so angry at that . The same manager has agreed to carry the girl with additional cost and all. Which way Nigeria, why are we treated like uneducated animals and why are these people acting like important fools , all you need to do is do your job and do it right . When will this stop . The security at the departure are not helping matters , how can you ask me to pay to let my family see me off to the check in point , this is wrong very wrong . Even the immigration officers wants to collect money for anything they do ….why why why ????.

And I know the mayor @akinwunmiambode of this and every other state can find a lasting solution to this , the president @muhammadubuhari himself can override things to set them right but I bet they don’t even know people are traveling out of the country, check the airport all you see are Nigerians running away from the country. I have never seen an EMIRATI or an AMERICAN that will run away from their country. Until you have no one to govern or be a president over before you know .
    LONG LIVE SCARED NIGERIANS”

  • Aremu is stupid for saying our father was poor-Kunle Afolayan

Adeyemi Afolayan, known as Ade love in the Nigerian film industry was a popular and celebrated filmmaker. Many of his fans who knew him when he was alive were shocked when one of his sons, Aremu Afolayan confessed that his late dad died a poor man.

Aremu Afolayan’s elder brother, Kunle Afolayan who is a popular filmmaker has debunked the claims. Speaking in a chat with Punch, Kunle noted that his dad did not die a poor man.

Hear him: “ Do you know Ade Love? Was Ade Love a poor man? That is his (Aremu’s) own opinion as everyone has a mind of their own. I would not say things were rosy, but we were never poor. If your parents were able to give you quality education and you enjoyed some luxuries that a lot of people didn’t have access to, then you cannot openly say you come from a poor home.”

“I am sure I didn’t come from a poor home. Though I cannot speak for anyone, I just think he (Aremu) is stupid. I didn’t get to see the story. Funnily, some people thought I was the one who granted the interview. When the General Manager of Eko Hotel told me he read my interview, I was surprised because I didn’t grant any interview recently. Whenever I see the man again, I will let him know it was not me he read; it is a misrepresentation.”

  • My brother didn’t help succeed as an actor- Aremu Afolayan

Son of popular filmmaker, Adeyemi Afolayan a.k.a Ade Love, Aremu Afolayan has shared the story behind his small beginnings.

Aremu noted that he was born in a wooden makeshift house popularly known as face-me-I-face-you and had to join his mother daily to sell pepper soup after school.

Speaking in a recent chat with Punch, he said: “I was born poor but I don’t know if my other brothers would say otherwise but I know that I was born poor in a makeshift wooden face-me-I-face-you house in a very poor area. Rich people never affiliated themselves with us or allowed their children to play with us. In fact, we did not see them because there were no rich people in the area I grew up, everyone was poor. There was no life for me basically while I was growing up. I got to know where the airport is in 2006. That was the year I would say I started to enjoy life a bit. I did not know anything about how to enjoy life while I was growing up and there was no one to enlighten me. That is why I never took school seriously because I had to sell pepper soup for my mother. We would go to her shop by 3:30 pm when I returned from school. Then, we would get home at about 5 pm. This happened all through my formative years, it happened from 1991 till 2002.

The actor and director also recounted how he was able to carve a niche for himself in Nollywood.

“My mother later had to retire from that business and I got all the freedom I had been hoping for in my life. No matter how high my hopes were, I could not just leave my mother alone to fend for herself because I am her last born. I eventually became a model in 2002. After the modeling, I went into the film industry. As a model, I got some jobs but I was always nervous in the midst of the new friends I made, no thanks to my background as a poor boy. I did not grow up going to clubs, smoking or drinking alcohol. I was not exposed to that ‘hip-hop’ life because my background modified my life and made me who I am today. If I was exposed to that lifestyle maybe I would have been dead by now because I may have had a very flamboyant lifestyle and I would be a night crawler. When I began my acting career, I tried to see if people would appreciate my talent but they were biased towards me despite my family name. No one tried to help me until I met Bob Manuel one day, he gave me a ‘waka pass’ role and like they say, the rest is history. No one, not even my brother helped me to get to where I am today. I worked hard myself,” he said.
