    Police gun down 2 armed robbery suspects in Enugu

    The Police Command in Enugu State says its anti-robbery operatives on Tuesday gunned down two armed robbery suspects while exchanging fire at Amalla on Obolloafor-Markurdi Road, in Udenu council area.

    The command’s spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Enugu.

    Amaraizu said that the suspects were gunned down about 3:50 a.m. on Tuesday while robbing one Sharon Mini bus along Obolloafor-Markurdi Road, at Amalla in Udenu council area.

    He said that the operatives recovered a gun, iron bar and machetes from the suspects.

    The command’s spokesman alleged that the two armed robbery kingpins had been a torn on the flesh of the motorists plying Obolloafor-Markurdi Road, within Enugu State.

    “It was gathered that the deceased hoodlums with their gang members had blocked the road with drums and were robbing passengers of one Sharon Mini Bus with Registration Number 804 XQ.

    “When the police operatives acting on distress call it received, swooped on them and in the ensuing gun duel between the operatives and the hoodlums, two of the hoodlums were gunned down.

    “While other members of the gang believed to have been touched by the operatives bullet escaped into the bush,’’ he said.

    Amaraizu said that a manhunt on the fleeing members of the gang had been intensified.

    “Command appeals to members of the public particularly hospital operators to watch out for any one that might approach them with injury suspected to be bullet wound for treatment.

    “They should inform the command through 08032003702 for prompt and necessary action,’’ he said.

    French Montana home invaded by armed robbers

    Renowned American rapper, French Montana’s house in Calabasas has been invaded.

    TMZ reports that at least 2 armed robbers broke into his home early Tuesday and cops are currently at the scene.

    A source in law enforcement said that they got a call from French Montana’s house around 9 AM and that the crime occurred several hours before it was actually reported. French Montana was at home at the time with an undisclosed number of people.

    However no statement has been given on what was stolen or if anyone was injured during the break-in.

     

    Two armed male suspects reportedly forced entry into the 33-year-old rapper’s mansion, the Calabasas Sheriff Department confirmed.

     

    While authorities were able to determine a home invasion occurred, the spokesperson said, it is unclear how much was stolen — or what was taken.

     

     

  • ‘Ganduje wasn’t attacked by armed robbers,’ says his spokesperson

    Kano State Government on Saturday dismissed claims that the convoy of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje was attacked by armed robbers in Plateau State.

    The governor’s Director General, Media and Communications, Salisu Tanko Yakasai, in a statement, described the reports as “not only imaginary but totally false and misleading.’

    Yakasai said, “To put the record straight, Gov. Ganduje was travelling in a convoy to Jos, Plateau State from Abuja to commiserate with his counterpart, Gov. Simon Lalong, whose brother passed away.”

    According to Yakasai, on approaching a point at Hayin Kibau, along the way to Jos, the convoy stumbled on a car at a roadblock mounted by armed robbers.

    “As soon as the armed robbers sighted the governor’s convoy, they dispersed into a nearby bush and abandoned their stranded victims on the road,” the governor’s aide said.

    He added that the convoy stopped to rescue the six victims of the robbery, including a pregnant woman, while policemen fired gunshots into the air to scare away the hoodlums.

    The media aide stated that the victims were later conveyed to a nearby police checkpoint for safety and to investigate the incident.

  • Suspected armed robbers kill 2 customs officers in Katsina

    The Katsina State Custom Command of the Nigerian Customs Service has confirmed the killing of two of its officers by suspected armed robbers.

    The Spokesman of the command, Mr Peter Duniya, who confirmed the killing in an interview with newsmen in Katsina on Monday, said the officers were killed on July 30 while on duty.

    He said that the officers were shot dead by people, suspected to be armed robbers on Daura Road in Katsina.

    Duniya said the officers were on routine patrol at Dogon-Hawa Community, near Shargalle Village in the Dutsi Local Government Area of the state when they met their fate.

    The spokesman named the dead officers as Assistant Superintendent of Customs Babandi Nuradeen and Chief Superintendent of Customs Maidama Yabo.

    “The command has already commenced investigation into the circumstance that led to the shootings of the officers,” he stated.

    Duniya said that the command had deployed officers from the intelligence unit of the customs to unravel the reason for the killing.

  • Armed robbers attack Odunlade Adekola, Mr Latin

    Popular Nollywood actors, Bolaji Amusan a.k.a Mr Latin and Odunlade Adekola were attacked by armed-robbers on Saturday night.

     

    According to Premium Times report, the duo were returning from a Glo music show in Ijebu-Ode, when their cars ran into the armed robbers who had laid siege along Ilishan-Sagamu road.

     

    Mr Latin puts it this way: “We left Ijebu-Ode after the show and heading to Abeokuta, when at about 7.30 p.m. we ran into the armed robbers already stationed themselves on the road,” he said.

    The actor said that Odunlade was driving ahead of his car when he sighted the road block by the bandits. He tried to make a detour, but the thieves’ rained‎ bullets on the tyres forcing the car to a halt, he explained.

     

    Mr Latin, who drove in his Toyota Camry behind Odunlade’s Toyota Avensis, said he and his colleague, alongside some of their aides, had to abandon their vehicles and run into the bush.

     

    Latin added that they were in the bush for almost two hours, while the bandits ransacked their vehicles, carting away valuables including money and mobile phones.

     

    “We took to our heels as the robbers pursued us with guns. We were in the bush for about two hours, before we later regained freedom after the robbers left the scene,” Mr Latin stated.

     

    He said some vigilante members later came to their rescue and they were taken to Ogun State University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu for medical treatment.Latin added that ‎ the matter has been reported to the police and thanked God for sparing their lives.

  • RAPE: Man sacks wife for enjoying session with armed robbers

    Benue born man (name withheld) has reportedly sacked his wife for making some moaning while being raped by armed robbers in his presence.

    The incident played out in the couple’s residence on Bello Street in Iyana-Ejigbo area of Lagos State, when armed robbers visited them in the dead of night few months after they came back from their village where they had conducted their traditional marriage.

    The heavily armed gunmen invaded Baba Eneh’s house around 3 am and demanded money, the native of Owukpa, Ogadigbo Local Government Area of Benue allegedly told the gunmen that he had only N3, 500 at home.

    The man, a commercial bus driver, reportedly begged the robbers that he did not have much money at home since he had expended all his savings on marrying his new wife and they were just trying to settle down.

    But the robbers who were angry that the man did not have much money at home, decided to gang-rape his wife at gunpoint.

    However, when the robbers left, the commercial driver was said to have accused his wife of enjoying the rape by moaning in excitement and twisting her waist as the robbers sexually assaulted her, instead of screaming for help.

    He was quoted as telling his neighbours: “Imagine my wife, instead of her to cry for help, she was busy making some funny sounds, an indication that she was enjoying the sex, even in my presence.”

    He was said to have ordered the woman out of his house on the ground that she disgraced him as it is against the customs of his community for a married woman to have sex with another man.

    The man is said to be afraid of what the gods of his land will do to him and has asked the wife to return to her village for the cleansing rites and sacrifices to be made.

  • Terrorism: Kogi demolishes 18 hideouts of kidnappers, armed robbers

    The Kogi State Government on Thursday said it has demolished eighteen houses serving as hideouts for kidnappers, armed robbers and other criminals in the state.

    This was revealed by Special Adviser to the governor on security, Comrade Mr Jerry Omodara (retired) in Lokoja.

    Omodara explained that the houses were destroyed in line with the provisions of the state’s law on kidnapping, armed robbery and other crimes.

    He said that 17 of the houses were demolished in Kogi central senatorial district while one, an estate, was demolished in Kogi East senatorial district.

    Omodara said that more houses were being identified, adding that any house where arms and ammunition were recovered, would be pulled down.

    He restated Governor Yahaya Bello’s resolve to rid the state of criminals, and declared that there was no going back on that stance.

    Omodara advised criminals to steer clear of Kogi in their own interest.

  • Nigeria becoming unsafe daily, CAN tells Buhari

    The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has said the country is now gradually turning to an open space for perpetrators of evil to carry out their dastardly acts without questioning by relevant security agencies.

    It further noted that Nigerians are going through severe pains as a result of hunger, poverty and insecurity of lives and property in the country.

    The religious body said this in a goodwill message delivered by the CAN National Secretary, Rev. Dr Musa Asake, at the ongoing 104th annual session of the Nigerian Baptist Convention holding in Abuja.

    CAN acknowledged that it believed that this year’s theme for the Baptist Convention, “Moving Forward: Overcoming the Challenges of Life through Jesus Christ”, was “the best suited for this troubled times.”

    In his words: “You will all agree with me that our country Nigeria is today experiencing excruciating pains as we witness religious and ethnic cleansing through the criminal activities of the murderous Fulani herdsmen who are killing story on daily basis.

    “Nigeria has become unsafe because our security agencies are not living up to the billings. In Nigeria today, nowhere is safe, both the rich and the poor are crying because of the evil in the land occasioned by the criminal activities of the terrorists, kidnappers, armed robbery, ritual killings, unemployment and corruption in high places.”

    CAN applauded the leadership qualities of its President, Samson Ayokunle, who is also the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC).

    “We in CAN are very grateful to the Nigerian Baptist Convention for giving u your very best who now serves as the National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria. Am talking of no other person than Rev. Dr. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle.

    “In times like this, we need a vocal and courageous leader to speak and stand in the gap for the Nigerian church. Let me boldly tell you that the man you give us as the number one Christian is this country is a leader who speaks his mind on all issues irrespective of whose ox is gored,” Asake said.
