  • Transfer: Arsenal sign Real Madrid midfielder on loan

Arsenal have signed Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan deal.

The 22-year-old has made 56 appearances for the Spanish giants since joining in 2017 from Real Betis.
Gunners coach Unai Emery said: “We’re excited to see Dani join us. He is a talented player with big technical ability, creativity and precision.”
Arsenal are also set to sign Saint-Etienne centre-back William Saliba, 18, who is expected to cost about £27m.
The France youth international will return to the Ligue 1 club on loan next season before joining up with the Gunners in 2020.
Saliba has expressed a desire to join Arsenal despite late interest from Tottenham.
Ceballos will be wear the number eight shirt this season and could make his debut against Lyon in the Emirates Cup on Sunday.

Laurent Koscielny to drag Arsenal to court

Laurent Koscielny is taking legal advice, after claiming his wages will be cut in half, as his bitter contract row with Arsenal continues, the UK Mirror reports.
The 33-year-old and his representatives are due to meet club officials this weekend, to try and resolve the issue.
The Gunners captain is trying to force a move away from the Emirates.
Koscielny refused to travel for the club’s US tour and is angry after negotiations over a new deal.
The French defender has only got 12 months left on his £100,000-a-week deal and wanted an extra year, with the club insisting there was no automatic extension clause.
Arsenal were willing to give Koscielny an extra year, with a guaranteed free transfer next summer.
But it would be on a lower basic with performance incentives and bonuses and the player insists it effectively cuts his basic wage in half.
Bordeaux are offering him a three-year contract, but only if he is a free agent. Lyon are also keen.

  • Serie A: I could not turn down Juventus – Ramsey

Aaron Ramsey has admitted he turned down other offers in favour of a move to Juventus, and says he could not refuse a move to the Italian giants.
Ramsey agreed to sign for Juventus on a free transfer in February and moved to the Serie A side once his Arsenal contract expired last month.
He faced the media for the first time since arriving in Italy on Monday, and said: “As soon as I knew Juve were in for me there was no question of where I was going to go; you can’t turn down that opportunity.

“I’m so excited to be here and be part of this great club. Hopefully I can be part of some new history we can write together. I’m looking forward to that challenge.
“Yes, there were other clubs but this is the right club for me. It’s a great club; one of the biggest in the world. To have the opportunity to come here and play at the top level is a dream.
“It’s a challenge to come over and experience a different way of life and different culture. I’m going to embrace that and hopefully everything goes nicely over here. I know how hard it’s going to be but I’ve prepared.”
Ramsey’s fellow new arrival at Juventus is head coach Maurizio Sarri, who has left Chelsea to replace Massimiliano Allegri.
  • Transfer: Arsenal submit £40m bid for Zaha

Arsenal have submitted an opening bid of about £40m for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha.

No players have been offered as part of the proposed deal, and the bid will be rejected by Palace.
The 26-year-old is keen to leave the club this summer and favours a move to Arsenal, but the Eagles value the Ivory Coast international at up to £80m.
The Gunners will have to hope a compromise can be reached on a lower fee and staggered payments.
Arsenal’s summer transfer budget has been restricted by their failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
After an unsuccessful move to Manchester United, Zaha made a permanent return to Palace in 2015 and has four years left on his contract, which he signed last summer.

  • Wilfried Zaha keen to leave Palace for Arsenal

Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha is keen to leave the club this summer and favours a move to Arsenal, who would like to recruit him.

Palace value the Ivory Coast international at up to £80m.

However, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka set to join Manchester United, Palace are reluctant to lose Zaha this summer.

United, who sold Zaha back to Palace four years ago, would get 25% of any fee if the player is transferred, unless that clause is renegotiated.

It is understood Arsenal were optimistic they would have the necessary resources to bring in the 26-year-old if they had qualified for next season’s Champions League.

Failure to do so has restricted their budget to around £45m, meaning they would need to raise substantial funds through player sales to even temp Palace into doing business for Zaha.

The most realistic way of generating the required finance would be by cashing in on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, though the potential implications of parting with last season’s top scorer would present a major dilemma for the Gunners.

Another of their key assets is Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira, who arrived at Emirates Stadium from Sampdoria last summer and has been linked with a return to Italy.

But while Arsenal accept every player has a price, they have no intention of letting the 23-year-old go and do not believe he is unhappy, contrary to some reports.

Torreira has been most heavily linked with AC Milan and although they do admire him, he is not a focus of their attention – the Rossoneri know the asking price would be prohibitive and have other targets.

Meanwhile, Arsenal remain in talks with Celtic over the signing of left-back Kieran Tierney, 22, and St Etienne regarding their central defender William Saliba, 18.

    Arsenal sign Nigerian goalkeeper, defender

Arsenal have signed a new deal with Nigerian players: Ovie Ejeheri and Daniel Oyegoke, ahead of next season.

According to Allnigieriasoccer, the Gunners signed the new deal with Ejeheri and Oyegoke at London Colney on Monday.

Ejeheri is a goalkeeper while Oyegoke is a right-back.

The duo will play for Arsenal’s U18s in the 2019-2020 season.

Arsenal finished outside of the English Premier League top-four last season.

Unai Emery’s side were defeated by Chelsea in the UEFA Europa League final last term.

  • Ljungberg appointed Arsenal’s assistant coach

    Ljungberg appointed Arsenal’s assistant coach

Former Arsenal forward Freddie Ljungberg has been named first-team assistant coach to Gunners manager Unai Emery.

The Swede is replacing Steve Bould, whose new role includes taking charge of the under-23 team.

Ljungberg, who played 214 games and scored 46 times for Arsenal, says he is “really excited” to work with Emery.

The former Sweden international was part of Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ side under Arsene Wenger.

Since starting his coaching career, 42-year-old Ljungberg has also been in charge of the club’s under-16s squad.

Bould, meanwhile, is to take up a new role back in the academy, which he ran for 11 years before becoming Wenger’s assistant manager in 2012, staying on to work alongside Emery last season.

The former Arsenal defender, 56, will also help oversee the under-23s and under-18 ‘phase programme’ with current Arsenal Academy manager Per Mertesacker.

Arsenal said the changes, which come into effect from 1 July, will help “create a ‘transition team’ which will collectively manage a player’s development through some of the hardest and most challenging periods of their professional lives”.

  • Arsenal midfielder Ozil marries partner Amine Gulse in Turkey

Arsenal midfielder Ozil marries partner Amine Gulse in Turkey

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has married his partner Amine Gulse at an Istanbul ceremony.

Ozil was seen walking with his new wife alongside a parade of beating drums and flares.

The Gunners star also showed off his dance moves as he and his partner jiggled to the music.

Ozil has showed his charitable side this week after making an incredible pledge to help out children in need, all as part of his wedding celebrations.

The Arsenal playmaker issued a statement regarding what guests could expect to bring to his wedding as a gift.

As is common practice wedding goers would bring something nice for the bride and groom, but Ozil has chosen to use his privileged position for the greater good.

Taking to social media, Ozil issued a statement in which he called for guests to join him and Gulse in donating money for those in need.

‘As a professional footballer I am in a fortunate and privileged position. However I invite everyone who is willing and able to help to support a very special project close to both of our hearts that we will undertake with BigShoe,’ wrote Ozil.

‘Amine and I will bear the expenses for surgeries of 1000 children in need. I’d be happy if in addition, many more treatments all over the world can be fulfilled,’ he added.

Ozil then posted an image of himself and Gulse, holding the white ‘BigShoe’ which forms the charity’s emblem.

After beginning to work with the charity in 2014, Ozil has remained an ambassador for BigShoe and worked alongside German and Swiss doctors to help the most vulnerable in society.

The former Real Madrid player had a glitzy pre-wedding bash in Istanbul on Thursday night.

The pre-wedding party had dozens of guests with belly dancers and traditional Turkish drums.

Ozil and Gulse are expected to set off on honeymoon, and finally enjoy some down-time following an arduous season.

The German has endured mixed fortunes under Unai Emery this season, after finding himself in and out of the starting XI.

Ozil was part of the Arsenal side who faced rivals in Chelsea in the Europa League final last month, but fell to a disappointing 4-1 defeat in Baku.

  • Antonio Reyes car traveling at over 135mph – police

Antonio Reyes car traveling at over 135mph – police

Former Arsenal and Spain forward Jose Antonio Reyes was driving at more than 135 miles per hour when his car crashed, Spanish police have confirmed.

Reyes’ funeral took place in his hometown of Utrera on Monday following the fatal accident on Saturday.

The 35-year-old was registered with Segunda Division outfit Extremadura at the time of his death, having signed a short-term deal earlier this year.

A statement from former club Sevilla which announced Reyes’ death said his cousin, Jonathan Reyes, also died in the crash on the A-376.

The Guardia Civil confirmed to the Press Association on Tuesday evening that an investigation into the incident was continuing, with speeding the “main cause” if not yet ruled the only factor. They said the former Arsenal man had been the driver of the car.

“The speed limit in the area is 120kph. We can confirm it (the speed of the vehicle) was the main cause of the accident,” a Guardia Civil spokesman said.

“Our investigation remains open, we do not know if there are more causes of the accident. But right now we can confirm that the main (cause) was the speeding, it was more than 220kmph.”

At Reyes’ funeral, his coffin was draped in the flag of Sevilla, where the forward came through the ranks before returning in 2012 to win three Europa League titles under current Arsenal boss Unai Emery.

Former Arsenal winger Reyes dies in car accident

Former Arsenal winger Jose Antonio Reyes has died in a car accident aged 35, Spanish club Sevilla have announced.

“We couldn’t be confirming worse news,” the La Liga club said on Twitter.

The Spaniard joined the Gunners from the La Liga side in January 2004 and was part of the ‘Invincibles’ side that went through the 2003-04 season unbeaten, winning the Premier League.

He later spent a season on loan at Real Madrid in 2006-07, winning La Liga.

The La Liga club paid tribute to the “eternal legend”, adding he was “one of the most valuable home grown players in the history of the club”.

Reyes leaves behind his wife Noelia Lopez, who he married in June 2017, and three children, daughters Noelia and Triana and son Jose Antonio Jr from a previous relationship.
