EPL: What we must do to Wolves – Arteta

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta knows they’ll face a battle against Wolves.

Arteta is aware Wolves will defend deep and in numbers.

He said, “They’re very prepared. They have a lot of quality over there. It’s not a coincidence what they’re doing.

“They perform really well against the top sides and that says a lot about the coaching staff, what Gary (O’Neil) is doing, the way they have prepared and how they control opponents – difficult opponents – especially when they play at home. We’re going to have to try to break them down tomorrow.

“Giving players tools, ideas and understanding the game we want to play. Then, as I mentioned before, it’s about the efficiency we show in the last part of the pitch which dictates the outcome of the game. The other night we were very efficient on that.”

Arsenal just not good enough – Carragher

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has not been impressed by Arsenal’s forwards this season.

The Gunners are in pole position in the Premier League after beating Brentford at the weekend.

Manchester City drawing against Liverpool ensured the Gunners ended the matchday on top.

However, Carragher stated on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports: “We are only a third of the way through the season but if this is the Arsenal we are going to see this season I don’t think they can win the league.

“So many games are going to the wire and sometimes they can go against you. Those 1-0 wins could easily be 1-0 defeats. There isn’t the same pace and fluidity, creating chances and I don’t think it is anything tactical.

“I am still seeing the same things from Arsenal. I just think individually the attacking players have been average whereas they were on fire last season.

“Martinelli, Saka, Jesus and Odegaard, who was up there with Kevin De Bruyne last season. I know he (Odegaard) has had some injury problems but the stats aren’t great.”

Arsenal moved level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City courtesy of a hard-fought 3-1 victory over beleaguered Burnley.

The Gunners had struggled to break down a disciplined Clarets side for much of the first half but broke the visitors’ resistance on the stroke of half-time when Leandro Trossard bravely nodded in at the far post for Arsenal’s 1,000th goal at Emirates Stadium.

Oleksandr Zinchenko completed the scoring with an acrobatic finish into the top corner after Dara O’Shea had inadvertently steered another Trossard corner onto the crossbar.

Arsenal finished the game with 10 men after second-half substitute Fabio Vieira was shown a straight red card for a studs-up challenge on Brownhill, but the Gunners held on comfortably.

Burnley stay in the relegation zone while Arsenal trail league leaders City on goal difference – although Pep Guardiola’s team can restore their three-point lead with victory at Chelsea on Sunday.
