    Popular Nigerian artiste, Flavour loses dad

    Famous Nigerian highlife singer, Chinedu Okoli, popularly known as Flavour, has lost his father, Elder Onyemaechi Okoli to the cold hands of death.

    The ‘Ijele’ crooner announced the sad news via his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday.

    Elder Okoli passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2023 according to his post.

    Mourning his dad, Flavour wrote in Igbo: “My father, Ijele’s (his nickname) father, rest well. God gave and God has taken.”

    Meanwhile, condolence messages have been pouring in from fans and colleagues of the singer via the comment section.

    The family has yet to announce the funeral plans for the deceased.

    Singer Tyla Laura Seethal, popularly known as Tyla, from South Africa has elevated Nigerian Afrobeats artist Wizkid to the same level as musical icons like Drake, Rihanna, and the late Michael Jackson

    In a recent interview, the fast rising singer stated that Wizkid, the Nigerian superstar, deserves to be ranked among the likes of Michael Jackson, Drake, and Rihanna and others.

    When asked on The Bianca Show which five musicians she thought were the best of all time, the “Water” crooner listed Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Drake, Rihanna, and Wizkid.

    She clarified that Wizkid’s position on the list was due to his influence and longevity in the African music industry.

    “My top five musical artists of all-time, obviously, Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Drake… It is always difficult to find the last one. There’s so many but I will say Wizkid. He has been around so long and has done so much for the culture and the genre[African music], so I definitely put him there.”

    Divine Ikubor, fondly Called Rema, has claimed that some of his colleagues are copying his style of music without acknowlegement.

    The “Calm Down” crooner in a recent Rolling Stone interview noted that his counterparts are getting ideas from him.

    He said, “I’ve been on the road for 4 years back-to-back; dropping bangers, hopping on stages. It has helped my growth non-stop.

    “In as much as vacation is needed, I just don’t like to feel idle. I have so much plans for evolving this [afrobeats] sound. I’ve always been that guy who just want to change the guy and change how the game is perceived. From sound to shows, to branding.

    “Even though some artistes will not give me credit, I know how many people [artists] have copied my moves and I am flattered by it,” he said.

    My last experience with my late son – Mohbad’s father

    Joseph Ayoba the father of late artiste, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Ayoba, professionally  known as Mohbad, has revealed the bad dreams he had two days before the demise of his son.

    The internet was awashed with the news of Mohbad’s demise on Tuesday evening and the artiste was  laid to rest in Ikorodu the following day amidst tears from family, friends and sympathizers.

    Mohbad’s father while granting interview to an online platform on Wednesday explained that he shared a good relationship with the late artiste,

    According to him,  their relationship  was more of friendship than father-to-son.

    He also revealed his final moment with him, saying he had paid him a visit last Saturday where they had lunch together.

    ” Mohbad is my friend. I called him Oladimeji (meaning my second) because I’m the only son of my parents. We were close.

    “The last day we met which was last Saturday,  I went there (Mohbad’s house) and we dined together. When I was leaving he also gave me some money like he always did,” Mr Ayoba narrated.

    The rave of the moment Ahmed Ololade Asake has revealed how he got the his stage name ‘Asake’ which has now stuck to him.

    The artiste whose songs now top almost every music app said that his mom originally bears the name.

    He added that his mom was a popular school teacher back then known as Mrs Asake and he was known as her son.

    Asake made this revelation while featuring on a radio programme Beat FM, Lagos.

    The Terminator crooner explained further said that he started out as a dancer, saying he was always invited to dance at one show or the other because he was very good at it.

    Continuing, he said that one day they were invited for a dance competition and when it was time to invite him on stage someone who knew his mom said ” Oya come o Asake it’s your turn” the person literarily called him with his mother’s name.

    The singer said he liked the name and decided to retain it as a means to continue to honour the mother because of his love for her.

    However, Asake noted that the mother didn’t intially support his music career but later changed her mind because she found out that he was good at it.

    Asake studied Theatre & Performing Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state. Although he had been releasing music since 2018, his musical career progressed further in 2020 when he released the single “Mr. Money”. A remix with Zlatan and Peruzzi followed. He continued to release more singles including “Medusa” and “Yan Yan” before he was signed by YBNL in February 2022

    OAU graduate, Bayanni joins Don Jazzy at Mavin

    Mavin boss, Collins ‘ Don Jazzy’ Ajereh has unveiled a new artiste, Bayanni, as the newest addition to the music record label.

    The label unveiled its new signee in a video shot on a yacht featuring ace skitmakers Brain Jotter and Sabinus.

    The video was captioned “We’re glad to unveil The Newest Mavin on the block; @ITSBAYANNI A product of the Mavin Academy. Welcome to the family @ITSBAYANNI.”

    The singer, who used to go by the name Zheno Boy, has dropped his first extended project entitled “Bayanni.”

    Acknowledging the welcome, the new artiste, Bayanni, took to his Twitter handle to announce himself as the newest member of the Mavin family and appreciate Don Jazzy for the opportunity given to him.

    “Lonely nights, dark mornings, waiting for the sun to shine on me while posting my freestyles back in 2016. Then I got a DM in 2019 from someone I respect so much. @DONJAZZY  thank you for giving me this opportunity. Sit back, as I take you on this journey. I’m ready, ARE YOU?” He posted.

    Reacting to the announcement, multiple award-winning Afrobeats artiste, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido took to his Twitter page to congratulate the Mavin’s newest signee.

    “So happy for him …. God bless u don baba” he posted.

    Bayanni who is an Alumni of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), will be joining the rich team of Mavin music which is comprised of multiple talented artistes such as Don Jazzy himself, Rema, Ayra Starr, Ladipoe, Crayon, Boy spice and Magixx.

    2023 Elections: Nigerian artiste Banky W joins PDP in Lagos

    Nigerian Singer and politician , Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has officially joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Lagos chapter.

    The Ebute Meta crooner revealed on his official Twitter page that he would be contesting for the seat of Eti-Os federal constituency in the Green chamber at the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

    Recall that Banky W contested for the same position under the auspices of Modern Democratic Party but lost out.

    The artiste has made it known that he has been engaging in community service and development adding he would like to offer solutions to problems.

    .The father of one said Nigerians can no longer settle for candidates who feel entitled to their place in government.

    The Nigerian people, he explained, need candidates who will earn and treasure their right to serve. And as a nation, we need innovation and reform.

    In his words ”when enough of us with like minds, who have the best interest of the nation at heart are in government.

    “I will once again be answering the call to serve to represent Eti-Osa Federal Constituency of Lagos State in the House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

    “Some may not agree or understand my decision to run or my choice of platform but I have learnt that we must engage with Nigeria where it is not where we hope that it should be. We must no longer be content to shout from the sidelines, we must get into the system and fix it.

    “The problems in Nigeria are from the top down but the solutions are from the bottom up hence the need for some of us to infiltrate the major platforms that exist to build an army of like minds who will enter government with the same agenda,” he added.

    In another viral video, singer Portable has disclosed that he has settled rift with death threat issuer Yusuf Ija -Omode.

    Recall that Portable released a video on his social media handles alleging threat to his live. In the video portable was seen saying that Ija-Omode had threatened to kill him in 7 days time.

    ” On my way home today, my car was attcked and damaged. I was inside it in the company of my girlfriend”He said

     

    “They want to kill me. They have given me seven days. He has asked them to kill me. He went to report me to the police, he doesn’t know policemen are my fans. He reported me to soldiers, soldiers guard me.”

    The singer has now claimed that prominent individuals have intervened in the crisis between them and the issues causing disagreement have been settled .

    However, in a new video shared on his Instagram page, the singer said notable individuals had intervened in the crisis and that all the issues causing misunderstanding had been resolved.

    Popular South African rapper Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado, famously known as Riky Rick is dead.

    The 34-year-old Cape Town, Award-winning hip-hop rapper, reportedly committed suicide on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at his home.

    Ricky who allegedly hung himself with a rope after suffering from severe depression died in the early hours of the day after being rushed to the hospital.

    Circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear but reports say that the rapper reportedly took his life at his home in the north of Johannesburg this morning.

    He rose to mainstream fame with his platinum-certified album Family Values in 2015 after making a name for himself and asserting his influence in SA hip-hop culture for quite some time behind the scenes. His greatest hits include Amantombazane, Boss Zonke, and Sidlukotini.

    Nigerian music star, Davido has become the most followed African artiste on Twitter.

    The singer recently attained 10 million followers on the popular micro-blogging app, which steadily built in the course of a decade.

    Sharing the news to his fans via his Insta story, the DMW boss highlighted the journey, which saw him amass his fan base from its inception in 2011 to date.

    For the fourth year in a roll, Davido has remained the most followed Nigerian celebrity on the photo and video sharing app, Instagram.

    The “Champion Sound” singer enjoys a fan base of over a 22million plus on Instagram.
