    Romelu Lukaku keeps Napoli of Serie A at the top after winning Roma

    Romelu Lukaku ensured Napoli maintained their one-point lead at the top of Serie A with the only goal in Sunday’s 1-0 win over his old club Roma.

    Belgium striker Lukaku poked home his fifth Napoli goal seven minutes after half-time in Naples, handing veteran Claudio Ranieri a defeat on his return to management with his boyhood club Roma.

    Napoli were the better team at the Stadio Maradona and should have been ahead as early as the second minute when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia somehow sent a free header wide from less than six yards out.

    Kvaratskhelia was also involved four minutes after half-time with a pinpoint cross from which Lukaku glanced just wide.

    Ranieri has a job on his hands at Roma, who are four points above the relegation zone in 12th, but his team were unlucky not to level in the 66th minute when Artem Dovbyk thwacked a header off the bar.

    Moise Kean continued his revival at Fiorentina by netting in a 2-0 win at Como which was his team’s seventh in a row in Serie A.

    The 24-year-old has been reborn in Florence after failing to score a single goal at Juventus last season and has scored seven times in his last four matches in Italy’s top flight.

    Napoli lead Atalanta, Inter Milan and Fiorentina by a point in a crowded title race which is yet to offer up a clear favourite for the Scudetto.

    Lazio can join the chasing trio on 28 points with a home win over Bologna in Sunday’s late match, with Juventus four points off the pace in sixth.

    Italian Serie A club, AS Roma have appointed former Torino head coach, Ivan Juric as new head coach.

    AS Roma appointed Ivan Juric as replacement for Daniele de Rossi who was fired earlier today Wednesday.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Juric signed with AS Roma a contract that will see him at the club until June 2025.

    There’s an option to extend the contract until June 2026 if AS Roma get qualified to Champions League 2025/26, according to Fabrizio Romano.

    BREAKING: AS Roma fire coach Daniele de Rossi

    Italian Serie A side, AS Roma have sacked coach Daniele de Rossi with immediate effect after a poor start with three points in four games. TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports AS Roma only extended De Rossi’s contract few months ago.

    According to a club statement on Wednesday, the “decision is made in the best interests of the team, to get back on the desired path as soon as possible at a time when the season is still in its early stages”.

    On 16 January 2024, De Rossi was appointed head coach of Roma until the end of the season, following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho. His first match was a 2-1 win over Hellas Verona at home. De Rossi led Roma to the semi-finals of the 2023-24 UEFA Europa League, where they were eliminated by Bayer Leverkusen 4-2 on aggregate.

    In June 2024, Roma announced that they had extended De Rossi’s contract until 2027. He then got sacked on September 18 after 4 games into the season.

    “AS Roma announces that Daniele De Rossi has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team.

    “The club’s decision is made in the best interests of the team, to get back on the desired path as soon as possible at a time when the season is still in its early stages.

    “A heartfelt thank you to Daniele, who will always be at home at the Giallorossi club, for the work he has done in recent months with passion and dedication. Communication regarding the team’s technical guidance will follow,” the club statement reads.

    Roma sack coach Mourinho

    José Mourinho has been sacked by Roma, the Serie A club announced.

    The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss led Roma to the Europa League final last season after winning the Europa Conference League the campaign before.

    Roma, who have won only one of their last five Serie A matches to slip to ninth in the table, said on their official website.

    “AS Roma can confirm that José Mourinho and his coaching staff will leave the club with immediate effect.”

    Club owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin added: “We would like to thank José on behalf of all of us at AS Roma for his passion and efforts since his arrival at the club.

    “We will always have great memories of his tenure at Roma, but we believe that an immediate change is in the best interests of the club.”

    Mourinho replaced Paulo Fonseca as Roma’s head coach in May 2021 and guided them to a sixth-place finish and the Conference League title in his first season.

    Roma finished in sixth place in Serie A again last term and reached the Europa League final in Budapest, where they lost 4-1 on penalties to Sevilla after a 1-1 draw.

    Mourinho won three Premier League titles, the FA Cup and three League Cups during two spells in charge of Chelsea after winning the Champions League with Porto.

    The 60-year-old also won the Champions League as manager of Inter Milan, claimed the La Liga title with Real Madrid and won the Europa League with Manchester United.

    AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho says there’s still players at Manchester United he told to get rid of.

    Mourinho left United in 2018.

    On John Obi Mikel’s ‘Obi One’ podcast, he said: “There are still people in that club, and when I say people I mean some players.

    “But also some other people that are not players, that are still there when I told [United] after two months: With these people, you are never going to do it [be successful].

    “And they are still there.”

    Mourinho, however, did not name names.

    AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho says he will eventually work in the Saudi Pro League.

    Mourinho hinted at turning down a massive offer from Al-Hilal over the summer, but now says he has plans to eventually move to the SPL.

    He said, “I go to Saudi Arabia when I have time off at some point.

    “I am also sure that I will work there. I’m not sure when, but I’m pretty sure about it.

    “I am still committed to my work in Roma and I will give it everything until my last day. Nobody knows the future, but I definitely want to work in Saudi Arabia.”

    Serie A: Lukaku set to join AS Roma

    Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has hinted that he would be joining AS Roma this summer transfer window.

    Lukaku made this known while speaking o Belgian media outlet Het Laatste Nieuws on the sidelines of a youth tournament in Boom, Antwerp province, where his son made his first appearance for Anderlecht.

    According to Lukaku, he would travel to Rome on Sunday to sign a contract with AS Roma.

    “I am nervous… Tomorrow I will fly to Rome to sign,” Lukaku said.

    Lukaku’s comments came as Chelsea, his current club, and representatives of the Giallorossi were in London ironing out the details of the deal.

    The Belgian had spent last season on loan at Inter Milan.

    He is not in Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for this season.

    Roma vs Sevilla: Mourinho predicts what will happen in Europa final

    AS Roma manager, Jose Mourinho has explained that the final against Sevilla on the 31st of May will help his boys grow, achieve important things and help the club’s fans.

    The Portuguese gaffer, made this known while speaking in a post match conference after his side sailed through to the Europa League final on Thursday.

    Roma played out a 0-0 draw with Bayern Leverkusen in Germany and thus qualified based on the favourable 1-0 first leg result in Rome,

    Mourinho’s men will now face Sevilla in the Europa League final later this month after progressing to the final on a 1-0 aggregate victory.

    Recall that Sevilla had eliminated Juventus in the semi-final second-leg tie after winning 3-2 on aggregate.

    Speaking to Sky Sport after the game, Mourinho said: “My concern is not marking my place in the Roma history books.

    “It is helping these kids [players] to grow, to achieve important things.

    “It is also helping the Roma fans, who have given me so much since day one. It is an immense joy to get to another final.

    “The boys give everything, this game is the result of our work, experience, tactical wisdom and knowing how to stay in matches. It is an incredible team.”

    Serie A: Jose Mourinho wants female footballer in his Roma men’s XI

    Jose Mourinho, the Manager of AS Roma has disclosed he would like to see a female player, Carina Wenninger in his team.

    Roma is going through some injury crisis at the moment and managed to draw 1-1 at home to AC Milan on Saturday.

    Tammy Abraham had scored what should be the winning goal for Roma in the 93rd minute but the goal was cancelled by a 97th-minute leveller.

    The result means Roma maintains their fifth place and below AC Milan all on 57 points as both teams fight it out for a top-four finish to qualify for the Champions League.

    Roma have just six Serie A games left and Mourinho wishes he could turn to female centre-back Wenninger, who has been outstanding throughout the season.

    The 32-year-old Wenninger joined Roma on loan from Bayern Munich and has heaps of experience.

    She helped Bayern win the Frauen-Bundesliga three times as well as the DFB-Pokal Frauen.

    Addressing his post-match press conference after their draw with Milan, Mourinho said: “The women’s team just won the Scudetto.

    “They have a very good centre-back who played for Bayern Munich [Wenninger], maybe she can play for us!”

    “If we only talk about the performance, then I say the result is unfair to us,” the Portuguese added when discussing the result in general.

    Europa League: Juve, Sevilla, Bayer Leverkusen, AS Roma through to semi-finals

    Record Europa League winners Sevilla will continue their quest for a seventh title after defeating Manchester United 3-0 on Thursday.

    German side Bayer Leverkusen also claimed a first-ever spot in the semi-finals with a 4-1 win at Union Saint-Gilloise.

    Elsewhere, Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw at Sporting Lisbon, but moved into the next stage thanks to the 1-0 win in the first leg.

    Spanish side Sevilla set up a meeting with Juventus, while Bayer Leverkusen will face the winners of the tie between AS Roma, who defeated Feyenoord 4:2 on aggregate to qualify for the semi-finals.

    After fighting back for a 2-2 draw in the first leg, Sevilla broke the deadlock early in the first half this time at home.

    This was after Youssef En-Nesyri took advantage of a mistake from Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.

    Loic Bané doubled their lead in the 47th minute before En-Nesyri completed his brace in the 80th minute to put the game to bed.

    Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen made it to the semi-finals of the Europa League for the first time ever in spite of a 1-1 draw at home last week.

    They had the perfect start as Moussa Diaby found the opener with only two minutes played and Mitchel Bakker doubled their lead in the 38th minute.

    Jeremie Frimpong added a third in the 61st minute and Casper Terho pulled one back four minutes later.

    But Adam Hlozek sealed the win for the German side.
