    Adekunle Gold, alternative Afro-fusion singer couldn’t contain his excitement and joy when Asa graced the last leg of his Lagos three-day concert held at Terra Kulture, V.I on the 16th of December 2018.

    The concert which had guest appearances from Olamide, Simi and other artistes saw Asa performing Adekunle Gold’s ‘Ire’ at the grand finale.

    For everyone who attended the Spice Lifestyle Honours held at Eko Convention Centre, Lagos on Wednesday, there was a general agreement that it was worth the time and investment.

    The concert and award night kicked off with a splendid performance from Falana, the multi-talented Nigerian-Canadian singer and song writer.

    Thereafter, Tenientertainer mounted the stage filled with gusto, but had to return back stage as Falana continued her performance despite Teni’s entry.

    Later on, an excited Teni performed songs like ‘Fargin’, ‘Case’ as the crowd cheered her on.

     

    Talented rapper, Vector made a surprise guest appearance at the event, he went beyond rapping to delivering a unexpected poem at the event.

     

    The rave of the moment, Adekunle Gold changed the tempo of the night as he got the audience dancing to some of his well rendered songs like ‘Damn Delilah’, ‘Call on me’ and ‘Ire’.

     

     

    When Asa mounted the stage with her smile and glasses at about 1am, it was as if an angel had arrived.

    The Jailer crooner took the audience on a journey through her music. If you ask anyone how Asa’s performance went last night, be sure to get an affirmative review.

    ‘Jamb Question’ sensation, Simi has thawed any speculations that she might be gunning to displace Asa.

    It all started when a fan tweeted that she has somewhat displaced Asa from the game but the X3M music artiste stated in her’ response, that she prefers to have a separate throne on which she can be crowned Queen while Asa gets to retain her title.

     

    Simi was quick to reiterate in her reply that she is not competing with Asa, adding that she is on her own lane.

    Asa, singer and songwriter, says she will keep singing till the age of 80.

     

    The soul singer, who was born Bukola Elemide, revealed via her Twitter handle. This statement has sparked various reactions from her fans.

     

    While some fans reacted positively saying they would listen to her music till their last breath, others were simply indifferent.

     

     

     

    Asa revealed during her 2017 Lagos Encore Concert that she waited for 10 hours before she got her first audition with a popular band in France.

     

    “When I first go to France, I used to sing and play my guitar at bars. One day, someone walked up to me and told me about a band that had just won a Grammy saying I could audition,” she said.

     

    “So I went there, got there on time (that is a problem for me) in the cold. I had just come from Lagos without warm clothes.

     

    “I got there and they told me to wait that they were rehearsing for their show and I waited 10 hours.

     

    “I was hungry, mad and was asking myself what are you doing here, why don’t you just leave. They had finished and they were packing up and someone remembered that I was outside.

     

    “I was invited to sing and I put all that emotion, all the sadness, pain and anger in the song. On the day of their show, they gave me two minutes to perform, I got signed and my first album was released.

     

    “If I had left that day, I don’t know what would have happened.”

    Asa’s revelation that she lost her virginity at 28 has triggered a myriad of opinions on social media. The soulful singer made the revelation in a 2015 interview with ace broadcaster , Funmi Iyanda.

     

    When asked how she lost her virginity, she said: “At 28 that was when I called Janet my manager and told her: “ There is a problem”. I called my mum , telling her there is a problem and I told her so many things . I told her I was a very late starter. She had no advice, the only thing she shyly said was that : “It will be painful at first”.I never had sex until 28 and am ashamed to say it. Don’t clap for me, I am not proud of it”.

    The Nigerian-French singer said this in an interview with Funmi Iyanda.

    When Asa started out in the world of music , many didn’t believe in her. She lacked the gait of a superstar and also was unassuming.You would take for a clueless young girl.

    Armed with her guitar, she went from one place to another looking for a platform to showcase her musical talent. Speaking at her recent Lagos Concert, Asa shared an inspiring story of how she waited for 10 hours at an audition in France with hunger, cold and fatigue hitting her.

    In that state of fear, despair and anger, she was tempted to go home but she didn’t. Asa was later called on to perform for 2minutes. That 2minutes was all she needed to prove herself. After that incident, five record labels were jostling to sign her.
