Tinubu to present Action Plan to private sector leaders in Lagos — PCC

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 Presidential candidate, will on Tuesday, Nov. 1, in Lagos present his Action Plan to the leaders of the organised private sector.

Mr Bayo Onanuga, Director, Media and Publicity, APC Presidential Campaign Council (APC), disclosed this in a statement on Sunday night in Abuja.

According to him, Tinubu will meet with business leaders and captains of industry at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, where he will present his action plan.

Onanuga said the meeting would afford the economic players and thought leaders in the private sector an opportunity to interact with Tinubu and interrogate his action plan for Nigeria.

He recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari on Oct. 21 unveiled Tinubu-Shettima policy document christened “Action Plan for a Better Nigeria“.

He said the document had enjoyed positive reviews across various segments of the economy since it was launched.

“The town hall session is convened to allow Tinubu share his vision for a better Nigeria with various actors in the economy and allow for critical examination of the policy options contained in the Action Plan.

“Asiwaju Tinubu has a very rich private sector background and experience. He has abiding faith in private enterprise and its fundamental role in national development and economic growth.

“The private sector needs power, predictability and consistency in policy to drive investment and boost national productivity,” the statement quoted the Secretary of APC PCC, Mr James Faleke, as saying.

Faleke added that the dialogue would enable business leaders to also share their insights and concerns with Tinubu.

He expressed optimism that the town hall would be a great avenue to sell Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria.

Newsmen reports that Tinubu had on Sunday presented his action plan to Pa Reuben Fasoranti and other leaders of Afenifere in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Afenifere is a Yoruba socio-cultural and political organization.

Exposed: How Tinubu allegedly bribed Afenifere leaders to get endorsed for 2023 – Adebanjo

Leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo has alleged that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu of bribed some members of the group to cause division within, ahead of the 2023 general election.

Adebanjo, who made the allegation while speaking on Sunday with an online medium said he’s not ready to engage Tinubu, whom he accused of inducing a few members of Afenifere to curry favour in his preparation for the polls.

He insisted that Afenifere had already endorsed Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) for the next year’s election based on principle.

“Tinubu bribed some people with little money to put up a show that there’s a division in Afenifere. I won’t engage him and those he gave money to because we have already made our position clear that Peter Obi is our candidate. Peter Obi as president will serve our interest better than Tinubu,”.

This reaction from Adebanjo is coming after Tinubu’s visit to Reuben Fasoranti, a foremost leader of Afenifere, at his hometown of Akure, Ondo capital, on Sunday.

Adebanjo, who took over as the leader of the Afenifere in March 2021 after Fasoranti, 96, stepped down from the leadership of the pan-Yoruba group during a meeting held at his residence, had consistently expressed his disavowal to Tinubu’s presidential bid.

Tinubu had stormed Fasoranti’s residence in the company of Bisi Akande, a former interim chairman of the APC; Iyiola Omisore, APC National Secretary; Pius Akinyelure, a Former National Vice Chairman of the APC South-West Zone; Dayo Adeyeye, National Chairman, Southwest Agenda for Tinubu 2023 presidential ambition (SWAGA), among others.

The APC presidential candidate shortly after his arrival immediately went into a close door meeting with Fasoranti where he received the “blessing” of the Afenifere leader.

However, some members of the pan-Yoruba group, which included Adebanjo and the Secretary-General, Sola Ebiseni, completely stayed away from the meeting held inside the compound of Fasoranti.

During the visit, Tinubu was endorsed for the 2023 presidency by the leaders of the Afenifere, who attended the meeting amid the division in the pan-Yoruba group.

The leaders of the group, who were from the six South-West states including Kwara and Kogi, said that the APC presidential candidate remained the best choice for Nigeria.

Speaking on behalf of the Afenifere leaders, Sehinde Arogbofa, the group’s former General Secretary, said Tinubu is a true son of Yoruba land, hence their support for him in the 2023 election.

Arogbofa told Tinubu to address the issue of insecurity and restructuring with all seriousness if elected the next president of Nigeria.

He also pleaded with the APC presidential candidate to be a leader that will unite Nigeria and work for the progress and development of the country.

“You are not just a Yoruba man but a Nigerian. When you become President, consider Nigeria in all you do but never forget home.

“Our demands are what you know already. Restructuring, security, and fixing the economy. Our country is no longer safe. We want state police so that the country will be safe,” the Afenifere leader said.

While presenting his manifesto tagged “Renewed Hope” to the Afenifere leaders, Tinubu said he has continued to receive massive support for his presidential ambition from the North adding that he would be fair to all regions if elected.

He added that his ambition was to turn things around for the better in the country, boasting that he would win the 2023 election.

“So, anybody that would defeat me in the race shall sweat,” Mr Tinubu added.
