The governor, who was joined at the inauguration ceremony by the immediate past Governor of the State, Kayode Fayemi, said Tinubu was a benefactor to the progressive family in Ekiti State, adding that his support for the progressives in the early years of the struggle was unquantifiable.

He noted the APC Presidential Candidate as the most qualified among all the candidates jostling for the presidential seat in terms of competence, capacity, courage, experience and sagacity.

“This time, we are searching for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Our Party, the All Progress Congress (APC) has presented the best man for the job. We are no strangers to the candidate of our party, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu is the indisputable father of progressive politics in Nigeria.

“He ticks all the boxes for competence, courage, character, excellence, experience and sagacity. In terms of political acumen, he is a living legend; and when it comes to his ability and capacity to govern, he is a mile ahead of his strongest rivals.

“Here in Ekiti, he was our benefactor in the progressive family. He was politically there for us in our toddling years. It is time for us to feed the leader who once nursed us.

“The duty is now ours to go from house to house, shelter to shelter, and place to place to ensure that our party and candidate win convincingly. For us in Ekiti, our target is to be the State that returns the highest percentage of votes to APC and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu come February 25, 2023.”

2023: I’ll emerge the winner of presidential elections – Tinubu boasts

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate on Wednesday in Kano State boasted that his party would emerge victorious as a whole in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

TheNewsGuru reports that Tinubu was accorded a rousing reception by the people of the state during the flag-off of the Northwest presidential campaign rally.

He thanked the people of the state for their overwhelming turnout, support and cooperation.

Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje appealed to the party supporters to vote for APC from top to bottom in the forthcoming general elections.

He assured the APC presidential candidate that the Kano people’s votes were for APC, saying the people have seen dividends of democracy provided by the APC administration.

According to the governor, the mammoth crowd that welcomed Asiwaju is a sign of good things to come in the elections.

He said “The success of the rally is a clear statement and demonstration of the preference of Kano people as regards the choices before them.

“The support for Gawun/Garo is a vote of confidence for our governorship candidate and his deputy,” NAN quoted me as saying.

Ganduje said that Tinubu had the character, capacity and competence to provide leadership that everyone would be proud of in the country.

INEC has fixed February 25, 2023 as the presidential and national assembly election day in the country.

2023 Election: APC bigwigs disclose state to kick off campaign

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has disclosed the state to officially kick off presidential campaign.

According to party bigwigs (name withheld) on Friday, the party chose Ilorin, Kwara state capital as the official port to launch its campaign.

The source, one of Tinubu’s loyalists, told newsmen that the presidential candidate and the stakeholders agreed on the North Central in general and Ilorin specifically.

The closed-door meeting, held for about three hours at Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, witnessed heavy traffic and security presence.

In attendance were National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu-led NWC; Tinubu’s running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima; Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Atiku Bagudu; Deputy Director General of the PCC, Adams Oshimhole; Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje; Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila among others.

Though a spokesperson for the Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, told journalists after the meeting that a ‘region’ had been selected for the campaign launch, he was unwilling to divulge it.

He said, “We have agreed on the region to begin the campaign but I am not going to say that now. We have also addressed all the basic issues because we want to carry the leaders of the party along. For now, no date has been chosen (for PCC inauguration). But we will announce that sooner than you think.”

Asked why the APC stakeholders and the candidate had yet to reach a decision on an appropriate date for both the campaign and PCC inauguration, Keyamo admitted that a definite date had not been agreed upon.

According to him, political campaign has to involve a conscious and calculative strategy to ensure no stone is left unturned.

But the source, one of Tinubu’s loyalists, told our correspondent that the lot fell on Kwara State after careful permutation.

He said, “The candidate and the stakeholders deliberated consciously on the issue, considered the odds before they finally agreed for the choice of North Central in general and Ilorin specifically.

“It will be the starting point for our campaign before we spread into other areas. But the date has not been agreed on.”

When contacted on Friday to reconfirm if the campaign is truly launching from Ilorin, both Keyamo and the PCC Director of Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, were hesitant on revealing details.

They neither confirmed nor debunked the report.

Keyamo said, “We cannot confirm anything now. Though it is not a disclaimer, there is no official release on that.”

Onanuga’s position on the issue was also not different.

“Why don’t you wait? The party will announce it. I cannot confirm anything to you on this. You guys (media) should wait for us to unveil the manifesto and the PCC this week. That’s what we plan to do first,” he stated.

  • How Tinubu enticed me with senatorial ticket offer to join APC – Wike

How Tinubu enticed me with senatorial ticket offer to join APC – Wike

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has explained how the All Progressive Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, enticed him to join the ruling party with a senatorial ticket.

He noted that Tinubu offered him the ticket after the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, failed to fulfill his promise after he emerged as the PDP’s presidential flagbearer.

He, however, said he turned down the offer and insisted that he would remain in the main opposition party despite his grievances, adding that he never contested the primary to settle for a vice-presidential or senatorial ticket.

“I didn’t contest so I can become a vice presidential candidate, I am not like others who were not serious and bought senatorial form alongside presidential form and that’s why when Tinubu offered me senate slot, I didn’t go for it,’’ wike said during an ongoing media parly in Port Harcourt.

“Aside from Tinubu, who is from the APC, other political parties are talking to me as well including Labour Party because they all know my worth and how I can ensure that they win the 2023 poll. But I have not accepted any of the offers presented by those parties,” the governor added.

Recall that some governors elected under the platform of APC met with Wike in Porth Harcourt, Rivers State’s capital ahead of the 2023 elections.

The governors include Kayode Fayemi; Rotimi Akeredolu and Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Ekiti, Ondo, and Lagos States respectively.

Others in their entourage include the Ekiti State Governor-elect, Biodun Oyebanji; former Ekiti State governor and Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Ayodele Fayose, among others.

Before the APC governors’ visit, there had been reports that the APC candidate, Bola Tinubu, and Wike met in France. The reports were, however, debunked by the former Lagos State governor’s media aide, Tunde Rahman, who described them as “fake news”.

From all indications, the APC governors may have banked on the fallout of Wike with PDP leadership after the main opposition party’s presidential primary to woo the Rivers governor to their side ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

But when asked on Friday if other political parties are wooing him to join them, Wike said, “They know I am important and that is why they are wooing me.

“Who does not want to win Rivers State? Why won’t they (opposition parties) talk to me? So many parties are talking to me.”

When probed further on the likelihood of his actions of entertaining other political parties’ offer may be termed as anti-party activities, he said, “Our presidential candidate, did he not talk to APC people?

“You see, if you’re an asset, people must come and talk to you. Who is a pretty girl that nobody wants to talk to?”
