    20 burnt to death, 1 injured in Bauchi auto crash

    The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Bauchi State, says 20 people were burnt beyond recognition in an auto accident on Tuesday in the state.

    The Sector Commander, FRSC in the state, Mr Yusuf Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident, said one other sustained injury.

    According to him, the accident which involved a commercial Golf 3 bus and a Sharon Volkswagen vehicle, occurred at Huturu Village on the Bauchi-Kano road in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.

    Abdullahi, who explained that the accident occurred at about 11.30 a.m., said it took corps personnel barely 12 minutes to arrive at the crash scene.

    He attributed the cause of the crash to dangerous driving and speed violation.

    “Twenty-one people were involved in the crash and there were 12 male adults, five female adults, one male child and three female children.

    “Eleven male adults, five female adults, one male child and three female children lost their lives to the crash and one male adult is still receiving treatment,” he said.

    Abdullahi explained that the deceased would be buried in Huturu Village, while the injured had been taken to Kafin Madaki General Hospital in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state for treatment.

    The sector commander advised motorists to always observe traffic rules and regulations.

    Auto crash: Jonathan visits injured police officer in hospital

    Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday visited his Security Aide, Inspector Gambo Joseph, who was injured in Wednesday’s road crash at the vicinity of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja.

    Jonathan expressed joy that the injured officer, Joseph was responding to treatment and recovering fast.

    He also stated that the second officer, Inspector Michael Ebute, who sustained injury during the accident was discharged on Friday.

    “Thank God Gambo is recovering so fast. I am pleased to inform you that the second officer, Michael has been discharged and returned to his family,” he said.

    Newsmen reports that two police officers were reported dead during the accident which involved a car conveying them from the airport.

    Tragedy! 12 burnt to death in Kano auto crash

    No fewer than 12 persons have been burnt to death in an auto crash that occurred at Tsamawa Town, Garun Malam Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State.

    This is contained in a press statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the State Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, on Tuesday in Kano.

    “We received a distress call from one Isah Mai-Fetur at about 3:00p.m that a commercial Hiace bus and another J5-bus had collided and instantly burst into flames.

    “Upon receiving the information, we quickly sent our rescue team to the scene at about 3:12 p.m. to rescue the victims,’’ the statement said.

    He said that the 11 persons in the Hiace bus were coming from Zaria road to Kano, while one person in the J5-bus was also going to Kano from Zaria.

    Abdullahi said that all the 12 persons were burnt beyond recognition, just as he attributed the accident to over speeding.

    He also advised motorists to always drive carefully to avoid unforeseen circumstances.

    Sad! 3 police officers die in Abuja auto crash

    No fewer than three police officers lost their lives in an auto crash that occurred along Kubwa-Zuba expressway, opposite popular Gwarinpa Estate in Abuja.

    The incident involved men of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) of the Nigerian Police.

    An eyewitness simply identified as Musa said that the accident occurred when one of the tyres of the speeding police van burst.

    He explained that the Police Hilux van suddenly veered off the road and entered the drainage where three officers among the occupants died instantly, leaving others seriously injured.

    “I was about crossing to the next lane when the police escort van on speed suddenly lost control and crashed into the drainage, leaving three policemen dead,” he said.

    Another eyewitness said he learnt the officers are escort who were heading to Kaduna for a special assignment.

    He added that some officials of the Kubwa unit command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) arrived the scene to evacuate the bodies to an undisclosed hospital.

    When contacted, the spokesperson of FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), described the incident as sad.

    Adeh, while confirming it, said she did not know the number of casualties involved in the “unfortunate” development.

    “It is really sad we lost our officers”, Adeh told the newsmen.

    Six persons died while six others were injured in an auto crash at Tazame Village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Thursday.

    The tragic incident occurred when the Sharon bus in which the victims were travelling had a head-on collision with an articulated vehicle.

    Sector Commander of the FRSC in Zamfara, Mr Iron Danladi, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Gusau on Friday that the bus in which the victims were travelling was heading to Sokoto from Abuja.

    The driver of the unregistered bus was overtaking dangerously when it struck the articulated vehicle travelling from the opposite direction

    Danladi added that the injured were taken to Yeriman Bakura Specialists Hospital, Gusau, for treatment while corpses of the dead were deposited at the morgue in the same facility.

    Yusuf Abdullahi the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Bauchi, says no fewer than six people lost their lives in a lone road crash that occurred in Bauchi on Sunday.

    Abdullahi, who disclosed this in an interview in Bauchi, on Monday, said 15 others were seriously injured as a result of the mishap.

    He explained that the accident, which involved a Toyota Hiace bus belonging to the Kano Line transport company, with registration number KN21-H41, happened at Kwanan Digiza village, along the Jama’are-Azare road, around 11:30am.

    “There was a crash yesterday involving a Kano line commercial vehicle and six people lost their lives to the crash. The six people that died were all females”, he said.

    The sector commander, who revealed that the cause of the crash was speed violation, said a total of 21 persons were involved in the crash, including four males, 14 females, one male child and two female children.

    “Among the 15 injured persons were four males, eight females, one male child and two female children,” the commander added.

    He further explained that both the injured and the corpses had been taken to the Jama’are General hospital for treatment and confirmation.

    Abdullahi urged motorists to always be conscious of road traffic rules and regulations as well as the weather condition at all times.

    11 passengers die in Kwara auto crash

    Eleven people have lost their lives in an auto crash said to have been caused by wrongful overtaking along the Jebba-Bode Saadu in the Moro local government area of Kwara State.

    According to eyewitnesses, the accident which occurred around 4:00pm on Sunday at Onipako village, involved two vehicles – a Toyota Corolla salon car and a commercial Toyota Hiace bus.

    The state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Jonathan Owoade, who also confirmed the incident said there were 26 people involved in the accident – (20 males and six females).

    He said all six females died in the incident.

    Owoade also added that 15 other people suffered varying degrees of fracture.

    The FRSC boss said those injured were taken to the Jebba Medical Centre and Emmanuel Hospital, Jebba, while the corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).

    Popular actress, Destiny Etiko and colleagues have been involved in a car accident on their way back from their deceased’s colleague, Stanley Okoro’s burial.

     

    TheNewsGuru recalls that Stanley Okoro, who was popularly known for his comedy roles in movies, died on Wednesday, August 11 from a suspected case of food poisoning.

    A candlelight service was held for the deceased on Tuesday and he was laid to rest Wednesday in Owerri, Imo State.

    Although the car was badly dented on the right side of it, all occupants came out unhurt.

    Etiko, who shared a video of the damaged car, wrote: “We are just coming back from our colleague’s burial and this is what happened.

    “We thank God nobody died but the car was badly damaged.”

    Back in July, the curvy actress gifted herself a grand mansion to mark her 32nd birthday.

    The police in Jigawa have confirmed the death of 14 persons in an auto crash in Ringim Local Government Area of the State.

    The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Jigawa Police Command, ASP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the incident on Wednesday in Dutse.

    Shiisu said the accident occurred on Monday at about 7:40 pm, along Ringim-Kano road.

    He said eight others were injured in the accident that occurred at Kwanar Gerawa area of Ringim LGA.

    “On August 16, at about 1940hrs a fatal motor accident occured that involved a Golf-3 car with registration number BH 628 DKA driven by one Magaji Yakubu of Timbau village in Gezawa LGA of Kano State.

    “Yakubu, who was heading to Ringim, had head on collision with another oncoming Golf-3 vehicle with registration number TRN 541 AA driven by one Usman Isyaku of Dausayi village, also in Gezawa.

    “The accident occurred at Kwanar Gerawa and both vehicles were carrying passengers. And a result, 14 passengers, comprising seven males and seven females lost their lives,” Shiisu said.

    He identified the females deceased as Zainab Hamza, 35; Hauwa Hamza, 50, Gadatu Adamu, 40, Bilkisu Harisu, 25, Ilham kamilu, 27, Bilkisu kamilu, 25 and Hajjo Yusuf, 60.

    The Spokesman further gave the names of the male deceased as Usman Isiyaku, 38; Nura Umar 35, Abdullahi Yahaya, 40, Adamu Ahmad, 30, Abdullahi Garba, 30 and Yawale Salihu, 7.

    According to him, the eight injured passengers are currently receiving treatment at General Hospital, Ringim.

    Okechukwu Edwards Ukeje, Nigerian rapper better known as Mr Raw, has been hospitalised after he was involved in a ghastly auto crash

    The rapper broke the news via his Instagram page on Saturday.

    Raw also shared pictures of scars left on his body at the hospital where he is currently receiving treatment from the road mishap.

    The rapper, formerly known as Nigga Raw, added that he passed out twice after the incident before he was rushed to the hospital.

    “Thank God for my life o! It’s a blessing being alive in the land of the living. I was involved in a ghastly motor accident early this morning at Abuja (before Bannex junction)….” he wrote.

    “I was unconscious when I was pulled out of the red car after another driver rammed into our car.

    “I passed out twice but I am stable now and responding to treatment. @mickeystainless get well soon my friend. The driver is receiving treatment as well. God be praised.”
