    SAD! I6-year-old Ajax player Noah Gesser dies in auto crash

    Ajax have announced that their youth player Noah Gesser has died at the age of 16 following a car accident on Friday evening.

    He had been with Ajax since 2018 and had been due to be part of the U17 set up for the forthcoming campaign.

    A minute’s silence will be held in tribute to Gesser in practice matches involving Ajax 1 and Young Ajax on Saturday.

    In a statement released on their official website, the football club said: “Ajax has received the terrible news that Noah Gesser has passed away.

    “The 16-year-old youth player died in a car accident with his brother on Friday evening.

    “At the practice matches of Ajax 1 and Young Ajax this afternoon, the terrible news will be discussed. A minute of silence is held before the matches start and the Ajax players wear mourning bands. In addition, flags will be flown at half-mast at the Toekomst sports complex.

    “Ajax is deeply moved by this tragic event. The club wishes the loved ones all the strength in coping with this immeasurable loss.”

    Popular radio presenter, Lolo 1 survives auto crash with children

    Popular radio presenter, Omotunde Adebowale-David, better known as Lolo 1, has expressed appreciation to God for sparing her life and that of her children after a recent car accident.

    The radio presenter and mother of four broke the news on her Instagram page in the early hours of Tuesday.

    Lolo who also plays the role of ‘Adaku’ in ‘Jenifa’s Diary’, revealed that they came out with bruises.

    “For my treasures I give you thanks for preserving their lives for me, because I have a covenant of life and there is no death in our way,” she wrote.

    “God will continually give his angels charge over them, they will never dash their feet against a stone.

    “This year has challenged me so much wanting me to give in to sorrow and despair but I refuse, because greater is he who lives inside me than he that prowls the world.

    “On their way to school they had an accident but God preserved them. I won’t break devil…..I will always overcome. Thank you lord.”

    As expected, colleagues in the entertainment industry took to the comment section to rejoice with her for the preservation of life.

    Funke Akindele-Bello, Nigerian actress, wrote, “All glory to God. Our children will love long in good health.”

    Popular gospel singer, Benita Okojie, said, “Thank God for His protection. Thank you Jesus lots of hugs and so grateful for this testimony.”

    10 feared dead, two injured in Ebonyi auto crash

    No fewer than 10 persons were feared dead with two others seriously injured in a fatal auto crash that occurred on Ishiagu-Axis of the Okigwe-Afikpo highway.

    An eye witness said the accident occurred when a bus belonging to Abia Line Network coming from Umuahia to Afikpo lost control due to excessive speed, killing almost all the passengers on board.

    Aja, who witnessed the incident while working on his farm narrated that the bus was moving at an excessive speed and could not negotiate bend.

    He said: “The driver could not negotiate a bend due to high speed and he lost control and somersaulted multiple times inside the bush; we were able to rescue two persons before the bus caught fire and we ran away.

    “Chief Onyebuchi Ogbadu, the Ivo Local Government Area chairman, brought water tankers and put out the fire.

    “Also, the police and officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) teams quickly moved the two persons alive to a nearby hospital where they are now receiving medical treatment.

    “More than ten bodies burnt beyond recognition have been evacuated to the mortuary by FRSC officials,” Aja said.

    When contacted, Mrs Loveth Odah, Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the accident but noted that she had yet to be fully briefed on the cause of the accident and number of casualties involved.

    “We have received information about the fatal accident which happened today along the Ishiagu axis of Okigwe-Afikpo highway but the Divisional Police Officer is currently at the scene of the crash.

    “He will give us a clear picture of the incident but for now, I can’t confirm to you the actual number of casualties or the cause ,” Odah said.

    Auto crash claims 7 lives in Kano

    The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed seven persons dead and two others injured in a road crash at Mundubawa junction on Hadejia road in Nassarawa Local Government Area of the state.

    Malam Saidu Muhammed, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the fire service confirmed the incident in a statement in Kano on Wednesday.

    According to Muhammed, the accident occurred at about 5:27a.m. on Wednesday, when a trailer with registration number, XC954GWL, and a truck without a registration number collided.

    He said that all the victims were evacuated to Sir Sunusi General hospital, where the doctor on duty confirmed seven dead.

    According to him, the remaining two victims are receiving treatment at the hospital.

    The PRO gave the names of those on admission at the hospital as Musa Mu’azu, 27, and Usman Abu, 30.

    Kevin Hart is set to leave the hospital about a week after he was involved in a car crash.
    The comedian will be leaving the hospital between Tuesday, September 10, and Wednesday, September 11, 2019. It is reported that he would be heading to an inpatient physical therapy facility.

     

    The reports also say that Kevin Hart is taking short walks in the hospital and can even climb a few steps.
    According to a source:“He’s super eager to get out,” adding he’s in pretty good spirits.
    Kevin Hart would be undergoing weeks of intense therapy to recover from the injuries sustained during the car crash.
    TMZ reports that though Kevin Hart’s surgery was a success, he would need a lot of therapy before he can bounce back to his feet again.

  • Pregnant woman burnt to death, eight others injured in Ibadan auto crash

    A middle-aged pregnant woman was on Tuesday burnt to death in a ghastly motor accident which occurred along Omi Adio, Ibadan, axis of the Ibadan-Abeokuta expressway, leaving several others with varying decree of burn injuries.
    About eight people were said to have sustained severe injuries when they were trapped in the liteace commercial bus coming from Apata to Omi Adio, along the one-lane expressway.
    The ill-fated commercial bus, according to eyewitness account developed mechanical problem when its shaft pulled off, causing the driver to lose control and ran into a ditch after somersaulting several times.
    However, the confused passengers numbering about ten were in the process of finding their way out of the wrecked bus when it went up in flames, and trapped the occupants.
    As dozens of sympathisers struggled to rescue the victims, the pregnant woman who was said to seat in the front became unconscious and was unable to escape from the inferno which also caught other passengers in the bus.
    A team of officers from the Apata , Ibadan unit of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), and police officers from the traffic section of the Omi Adio, Ibadan Divisional Police Station were seen assisting sympathisers to evacuate the victims of the accident from the deep valley where the bus pugged.
    As at the time of filing this report, the wreckage of the commercial bus was yet to be retrieved from the deep valley, in thick smokes as the bus is still burning.
    The injured, with burns, have been rushed to a nearby medical facility, Alaafia hospital, Apata where they were receiving medical attention , while the deceased pregnant woman was said to have deposits at the Adeoyo state hospital morgue , Ring road, Ibadan.
    A police source from Omi Adio Police Station, Ibadan attributed the accident to over speeding and lack of maintenance culture among commercial vehicles by operators.
    It will be recalled that last week Thursday a similar accident occurred on the same area when the front shaft of a commercial bus went off, while the vehicle was on a high speed, and ran into a deep valley on the Ibadan- Abeokuta expressway.

    The Ogun Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Saturday said that five persons died while 14 others sustained various degree of injuries in an accident tinvolving two vehicles at Odeda town, along Abeokuta-Ibadan Expressway.
    Mr Clement Oladele, the Ogun Sector Commandant of FRSC, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, Ogun, that the accident happened at about 9.20 p.m. on Friday.
    Oladele explained that a MADZA bus with registration number MUS 367 XU conveying passengers from Ibadan to Abeokuta lost control due to dangerous driving and had a collision with a truck.
    He added that the truck with no registration number crushed the passengers inside the commuter bus and trapped them inside the bus.
    The sector commandant said that 19 persons were involved in the accident that resulted to the death of five persons died, while 14 others sustained various degrees of injury.
    “The corpses of the victims had been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Ijaye, Ogun, while the survivors were also receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Ogun.” he said.
    Oladele said that the obstruction had been cleared off the expressway to prevent further disaster.
    The FRSC boss, however, commiserated with the families of the victims and cautioned drivers to resist driving dangerously to avoid unnecessary road traffic crashes.
    He also implored passengers and the general public that noticed vehicles driving recklessly should contact the Corps through the FRSC toll free number 122. (

    Sad! Eight die in Lagos-Ibadan road crash

    No fewer than eight persons died while 12 others sustained injuries on Wednesday in multiple accidents involving seven vehicles around Danco filling station on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

    Mr Clement Oladele, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abeokuta on Thursday.

    Oladele confirmed that the accident, which occurred around 7:56 p.m on the expressway, involved a Toyota bus marked LSR 560 XJ, Mazda bus marked XD 792 EZA , Toyota Sienna marked ABC 512 ZV and Toyota Camry marked APP 196 RQ.

    Other vehicles are an Iveco tanker with registration number DED 776 XA, Daf tanker marked APP 248 XT and Daf container with registration number LND 04 XX.

    The FRSC boss explained that the accident was caused by excessive speeding, reckless driving and loss of control on the part of one of the vehicles which led to a container fallen off from its hook on two buses.

    “From investigations, it was learnt that the unfortunate fatal crash was caused by speeding, reckless driving and loss of control on the part of one of the vehicles which led to a container fallen off from its hook on two buses.

    “Other vehicles rammed into each other in the process, in an attempt to escape from the scene.

    “The accident involved 43 persons, 12 persons which included five female and seven male were injured while eight persons which included one female, six male and a child died in the accident,” he said.

    He noted that the injured victims were taken to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu and Fambis Hospital, Mowe.

    Oladele said that the corpses of the deceased were deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital mortuary, Sagamu.

    He advised motorists to note that the entire stretch of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is still undergoing rehabilitation, cautioning motorists to observe the maximum speed of 50km per hour in compliance with the National Road Traffic Regulations, 2004.

    Czech striker dies in auto crash

    Czech international striker Josef Sural has been killed after a bus carrying several of Turkish club Aytemiz Alanyaspor’s players crashed.

    Sural, 28, died at the hospital where he and six of his team-mates were taken after a bus carrying them back from a game at Kayserispor crashed on Sunday.

    Ex-Cardiff and QPR defender Steven Caulker was on the bus and is unharmed physically but emotionally distraught.

    Chairman Hasan Cavusoglu claimed the driver had fallen asleep at the wheeA second on-board driver was also reportedly asleep when the accident happened around three miles from the club’s home city of Alanya.

    Cavusoglu said the six players other than Sural were not in a critical condition.

    Seven of the Super Lig’s club’s players had rented the private minibus, while the rest of the club’s players and staff travelled on a team bus or on their own.

    On Twitter, the club posted: “We have learned with deep sorrow that Josef Sural lost his life as a result of an accident carrying seven football players from Alanyaspor.”

    Ex-Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse also plays for Alanyaspor but it is not known whether he was on board.

    Sural joined Alanyaspor from Sparta Prague in January.

    He made 20 appearances for his country, last featuring in their Nations League defeat by Ukraine in October.

    The Football Association of the Czech Republic said news of Sural’s death brought “great sorrow”, adding: “We will never forget you.”

    The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that no fewer than 19 persons died and 38 persons were injured in a ghastly road accident on Daudawa-Funtua road in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

    The FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Godwin Ngeuku, made the confirmation to journalists on Friday in Katsina.

    He said the incident happened on Friday morning at Daudawa, few kilometres to Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State involving a Mitsubishi vehicle.

    The sector commander said the driver lost control of the vehicle while speeding, skidded off the road, somersaulted and killed some passengers instantly.

    He said the vehicle, with registration number DKA 654 ZP, was on its way to Sokoto with about 57 passengers when the incident occurred.

    The sector commander said FRSC rescue team rushed to the scene of the accident and took the injured persons to Funtua General Hospital for medical attention and evacuated the corpses.

    Mr Ngueku urged drivers to desist from overloading, speeding and continue to abide by the traffic rules and regulations as part of measures to avert crashes on the highways.

    The Chairman of Funtua Local Government Area, Lawal Sani, expressed sadness over the development.
