    Traditional Sports: Bayelsa wins first gold in Ayo

    Seun Aiyedun of Bayelsa, on Tuesday, won gold medal in Ayo competition of the 2022 National Open Traditional Sports.

    Newsmen reports that Aiyedun won all the four games in the male single category in day one of the competitions played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

    Aiyedun defeated Pave Andoka of Edo in the first game 3-0. He beat Richard Ben of Akwa Ibom 3-0 in the second.

    He defeated Monday Samuel of FCT in the third game 3-0 and finally defeated Julius Femi of Delta 3-1 in the fourth game.

    Speaking to newsmen, Aiyedun said he was happy that he won the gold medal.

    ‘i’m happy for this victory, all my opponents worked hard in their games but I thank God for defeating them.

    “I hope to also win a medal in the double male category on Wednesday,” he said.

    Richard Ben of Akwa Ibom finished second to win silver while Pave Andoka finished third to win bronze medal.

    In the female category, Blessing Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom finished first to win gold medal.

    Faith Okwudihu from Delta took second position to win silver.

    NAN reports that five states participated in the Ayo competition – FCT, Baylesa, Akwa Ibom, Edo and Delta.

    The 2022 edition of the Sport featured Kokuwa, Dambe, Abula, Langa and Ayo.

    The National Open Championship, which started on Monday is expected to end on Wednesday.

  • Simi releases new single ‘Ayo’

    Ace Nigeria singer and celebrity, Simisola Ogunleye aka Simi has released a new single of the audio to her new song “Ayo.”

    The audio of the song which was produced by legendury Beatz talks about the singer’s expression of joy forever and request for better things to come.

    The new song ‘Ayo’ in Yoruba dialect, which translates to ’Joy’ was the singer ‘s first solo single for the new year after her joint single with her husband and singer Adekunle Gold.

    The music star song expressed thankfulness to God and looking forward to good things and greater expectations to her new song and marriage.

    The afro-alternative song contained lyrics of her speaking of the joy and God’s blessing for her and her entire household this year.

    Simi recently got married to renowned singer Adekunle Gold. She was a gospel singer before she released her debut in 2008 titled ‘Ogaju’

    The singer’s career came into limelight in 2014 after she released ‘Tiff’ a song which was nominated in two categories at ‘The Headies 2015’ and further brought her to mainstream recognition.

    Remi Surutu’s daughter to be buried Thursday

    Daughter of Nollywood actress, Remi Surutu whose life was cut short after a long-term battle with sickle cell will be buried on Thursday, July 6, 2017. Ayo’s remains will be entombed at Ebony vaults Ikoyi, Lagos.

    Ayo gave her last breath on Sunday, July 2nd and condolences have continued to pour in as friends and family of the deceased mourn her

    A representative of Remi Surutu stated that despite the sad occurrence, the mother is trying to accept it in good fate. ”She is doing fine.

    Remi Oshodi Surutu, lost Ayo, her first daughter after a sickle cell crisis at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

    Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo in her condolence message said:” A beautiful young soul gone too soon. I do not have the right words to say to you, nothing we say can comfort you, it’s indeed a great loss and I am deeply so sorry, it’s only God that can comfort you. Aunty, you have to be strong for her other siblings “.

    The sad death of Ayo was announced on Instagram by Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi .

    Nollywood actress, Remi Oshodi loses daughter

    Nollywood actress, Remi Oshodi popularly known as Remi Surutu has lost her daughter, Ayo, to the cold hands of death. Popular Yoruba actor, Yomi Fabiyi took to his Instagram page to mourn the deceased.

    According to him: “Rest in Peace AYO. May God grant your mum @therealremisurutu the strength to bear this loss. She did all she can, omg! Aunty Remi, please take heart. Seeing your lifeless body now caused me more pain and it is because I value the friendship we shared. Journey well. In serious pain now.May her soul RIP”

     

    In the same vein, Iyabo Ojo also wrote her condolence message via her Instagram page, comforting the actress over the great loss.

    The cause of her death is yet to to be confirmed. May her soul rest in peace.
