    Knocks as Jaywon calls out Ayra Starr for using viral photo to promote album

    Nigerian singer Oluwajuwonlo Iledare, better known as Jaywon, has taken to social media to express his displeasure with his younger colleague Ayra Starr for using a viral picture of the two of them to promote her new album.

    Jaywon via the microblogging platform, X  formerly Twitter, on Thursday night, June 20 voiced his concerns directly to Ayra Starr’s fanbase.

    He stated, “To the sisterhood, your igbekere sister has been using my picture to promote her album disrespectfully. A picture that I took with her out of love and none of y’all are calling her out. When I come for una mama, let nobody tell me shiiit. Since na who dey mad una dey like.”

    Jaywon emphasised that the now-viral photo was taken out of goodwill. However, he feels that Ayra Starr’s use of the image for promotional purposes shows lack of respect.

    This viral photo, which has garnered significant attention from netizens, pictures moment Ayra Starr held Jaywon’s hand in an unconventional manner as though she was preventing him from touching her.

    The pose quickly drew the attention of netizens and became a talking point due to the peculiar way Ayra Starr held Jaywon’s wrist with the tips of her fingers.

    Popular Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr, the has claimed she knew she was going to be a superstar at a tender age but confusion set in as to how that would happen.

    Recounting her rise to fame, Ayra said she ventured into the music world at 18, shortly after she graduated from the University.

    She made this known during an interview with a renowned streaming platform, Spotify where she revealed how she knew from a tender age about becoming famous.

    According to Ayra Starr, her mother stalled her music career until she graduated at 18, making it her first time in a studio.

    The Grammy nominee further highlighted the phases of her life after she bagged fame following the breakthrough of her first album.

    She said: “The year I turned 10, I knew I was going to be a superstar but I didn’t know how. The year I turned 16, I just wanted sing in my room; 18 was when I entered the studio for the first time, and I had just graduated from the university. I remember my mom said that the only time you can do music is when you can do music.

    “I released my first album in 19, ’19 and Dangerous’ and it took the world by storm. At 20, I released Rush and it was my biggest song. The year I turned 21, I got nominated for Grammy; that was the beginning of living my life as the global African superstar.”

    Popular Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr, has revealed she is unaware of the tension between her male colleagues, Asake and Seyi Vibez.

    Speaking on the decision to work with both artists during a recent interview on Beat FM Lagos, the ‘Rush’ hitmaker said she does not know about any beef between them, and she decided to work with them on forthcoming album, ‘The Year I Turned 21,’ because she loves their sonic prowess.

    She said she has been a fan of Seyi Vibez for a while and often listens to his song, Different Pattern.

    Ayra Starr revealed that the moment she sent him the beat, Seyi recorded and sent his verse back to her almost immediately.

    “I didn’t put Asake and Seyi Vibez on my album because of their rivalry. I didn’t know about the rivalry between Asake and Seyi Vibez. I just love both of them as artistes.

    I’m really big on sonics; what would sound good sonically. My team is always thinking of the business side but I’m just thinking of who would be sonically compatible with me. And I’ve been listening to Seyi Vibez’s ‘Different Pattern’ for a very long time.

    “So, I decided to work with him. When I sent the record to him, he sent his verse almost immediately. They were very quick with it. Asake, too, he sent me his verse in three days.”

    Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr has expressed happiness with her meeting with Barbadian superstar, Rihanna.

    The ‘Rush’ crooner revealed that she was surprised that the billionaire Grammy-winning singer knew her.

    The beautiful artiste made this known in a recent chat with BuzzFeed, Ayra Starr said, “My biggest celeb story is Rihanna. I met Rihanna about two weeks ago.

    “I went to the Authentic Woman event in London. It was amazing; I got to meet Rihanna. Do you know how crazy that is? And she loves me, she knew me that was the most amazing part of it. She knew me. It was so amazing.”

    It would be recalled  that Rihanna offered to collaborate with Ayra Starr during their meeting at the Authentic Woman event in the UK.

    The mother of two expressed strong desire to work with Ayra Starr and Tems on a song.

    Nigerian superstar,  Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr,  has released an artwork and track list for her upcoming sophomore album, ‘The Year I Turned 21’.

    The Grammy nominated singer, who took to her social media pages to surprised her fans with an artwork and track list for her upcoming sophomore album, said she looked like a bag of money as she snapped on the artwork.

    According to her,  picturing in a highway setting while leaning on a vintage car made her to  look  like a bag of money.

    “Track list ‘The Year I Turned 21’ otherwise called ‘TYIT21’ is now available for preorder and will be released officially on May 31, 2024,” she wrote.

    The music star already had the entire country anticipating her album, including fellow superstars such as  Nigerian music star Wizkid,  who  reposted her artwork unveiling and showing support with a tag “Love it”.

    The album featured some heavyweights across different countries in the world like Nigeria’s Asake and Seyi Vibes, America’s Giveon and Coco Jones, and Brazil’s Anitta, amongst others.

    Starr is a Nigerian singer and songwriter, who  began a fashion career at the age of 16 with Quove Model Management before deciding to pursue a career in music.

    After  covering  several songs by popular artists on Instagram, she posted her first original song on her page in December 2019.

    The posting brought her to the attention of record executive  Don Jazzy, who  later signed her to his record label  Marvin Record.

    The singer later achieved mainstream international recognition in 2022, with the released of her song “Rush”.

    The song charted in several territories, including Switzerland, Ireland and the United Kingdom, where it peaked at number 24.

    The song earned Starr her first nomination at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards for Best African Music Performance.

    With the song, Starr became the youngest African Female Artist to surpass 100 Million views on a single video on  YouTube, and also the first to do so within five months.

    Afrobeats star, Ayra Starr has revealed her desire to lead the new generation of Afrobeats musicians.

    She stated that it is her desire for the ever-growing genre to become the biggest in the world.

    Speaking in a recent interview with Cosmopolitan UK, she said:

    “My hope for Afrobeats is for it to be the biggest genre in the world. Because it deserves to be.

    “Other genres of music are great, but there’s nothing like Afrobeat. Even the sad music makes you feel good. So, I want Afrobeats to be the biggest genre in the world and I would love to be one of the leading artists.”

    Afrobeats sensation, Ayra Starr has said women will not pay for anything If she was president for a day.

    The singer, who is currently on tour in an interview with MTV UK, said she would make things free for women and as such, they don’t have to pay to have anything.

    The interviewer asked about laws she would enact if opportune to be a day’s president.

    She responded: “If I was president for a day, I will make sure women don’t have to pay for anything. No woman will have to pay for anything, everything free. All the bags, all the jewelry, food. Women and children won’t have to pay for anything”.

    Popular media personality Steve Onu fondly called Yaw has blasted Ayra Starr for refusing  to attend Headies Awards despite the organisers reaching out to her.

    The broadcaster spoke on this while reacting to how no Nigerian musician bagged an award at the 2024 Grammys despite many of them attending the event.

    According to Yaw, Ayra Starr was in New York when Headies boss Ayo Animashaun invited her to attend and receive her award. However, the Mavin star refused.

    Yaw explained that Animashaun offered to book the young singer a business class ticket to attend, but she insisted on a private jet or nothing.

    It was disclosed that the organisers decided to announce Ayra Starr’s award on social media, but she went online to drag them while claiming they did it because she’s a woman.

    Yaw went on to wonder if it was the Grammys that bought the flight tickets for all the Nigerian musicians who attended their 2024 award show. He said this while reiterating that these artistes should support their own.

    “Ayra Starr she dey New York, make she come Headies Award, Ayo say him go buy business class ticket for her make she come the show. She say if no be private jet, she no dey come. So dem come present her award online, she con come dey bash Headies say dem present her award online because she be woman.

    “You no go talk say dem say dem go pay your business class flight? How many people dey fly business class for this abroad? Okay you be superstar, we agree, no doubt. But at the same time if to say na your own thing… This Grammy wey all of them go, Na Grammy buy their flight ticket?”

    Speaking in an interview with Rolling Stone, Ayra Starr said Rihanna’s ‘Anti’ is the greatest album ever made.

    “Rihanna’s ‘Anti’ is the album I can put on repeat for life. I love Rihanna. She is my greatest inspiration.

    “She is my matriarch. She is my queen. Her album ‘Anti’ is timeless. I listen to it always.The more I listen to it, the more I understand it. I love it so much.

    “What I heard from Rihanna is being myself, understanding myself; whatever works for me is fine, some things don’t work for me, it’s fine. I’m just going to be myself in every situation.”

    Ahead of the 66th grammy awards, Popular Nigerian singer, Oyinkansola Sarah fondly called Ayra Starr, has said she already have her Grammy’s speech, outfit and she already know the way she would walk on February 4.

    During an interview with Cool FM, hosted by the OAP, Do2dtun, the budding singer, who is nominated for Best African Music Performance at the 2024 Grammys for her chart-topping track “Rush,” expressed her excitement.

    During the conversation, Ayra Starr conveyed her excitement for the ceremony that is set to take place on Sunday, February 4.

    She revealed that she was ready for the big event by highlighting her careful planning for it.

    When asked how she planned to respond to receiving the prized honour, Ayra revealed her thoughts.

    She said she wanted to celebrate by treating herself to a lavish dinner at her favourite Chinese restaurant and then making a meaningful video chat with her mother.

    Ayra Starr continued by revealing that she had written her acceptance speech for the Grammy stage, practiced her walk, and chosen her dress with care.

    She said,once I win the grammy, there’s this Chinese restaurant I’ll go to.
