    Countries where Ayra Starr’s songs are mostly streamed revealed

    Spotify, an online streaming platform has revealed the top 10 countries where Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr’s songs were most streamed across the globe.

    Victor Okpala, Spotify’s Artiste and Label Partnerships Manager for West Africa, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, in Lagos.

    Okpala said Ayra Starr’s music were mostly streamed in the United States of America, France, United Kingdom, Nigeria, Netherlands, Germany, Canada, Sweden, South Africa and Kenya.

    He said this was released to keep her fans abreast of how far her music had been embraced globally as she prepared for her first World Tour, tagged ‘21: The World Tour’ in a nod to her current age.

    According to him, the tour will span three continents: America, Africa, and Europe, with the North America leg of the tour focusing on the United States and Canada, where most of her 2023 streams on Spotify are coming from.

    “The top 10 countries streaming Ayra Starr’s songs according to Spotify are the United States of America, France, United Kingdom, Nigeria, Netherlands, Germany, Canada, Sweden, South Africa and Kenya.

    ”It, therefore,  makes sense that almost all these countries are part of the destinations listed on her tour.

    “Ayra Starr is one of our Spotify RADAR alumni, and has proved that she is an exceptional musical talent and a unique voice in the music space among Gen Z’s.

    “Her musical journey has been inspiring to watch,” he said.

    Okpala noted that Ayra Starr’s song “Rush” is popular in the USA, France, Malawi, Italy, Zimbabwe, UK, South Africa and Spain so the fans can definitely be sure it will be part of her set.

    He said “Rush” also tops the list as her most exported song among listeners in the 18-35 age group and her most playlisted song.

    He noted that earlier in the year, Ayra Starr released the song,  Sability,  which featured an interpolation from Awilo Longomba’s classic album, Coupé Bibamba.

    She said the song ranked as her most streamed song in Nigeria, followed by Tiwa Savage’s Stamina which featured her and Young Jonn.

    According to her, the love is not only limited to her recent releases; Bloody Samaritan, released in July 2021, is her second most playlisted song and also one of the top exported songs.

    “Her other top exported songs were all features including hers and Omah Lay’s feature on Libianca’s People, Wizkid’s 2 Sugar and Mavins’ Overloading (OVERDOSE),” he said.

    Ayra Starr grew up in a musically inclined family. She considers her mother, a former singer and her brother Dami, a guitarist and songwriter as her earliest inspirations for her interest in a music career.

    Growing up between Bénin and Nigeria, she was exposed to different cultures that influenced her perspective on life and her personality.

    Ayra Starr and Dami began writing songs from a very young age under the tutelage of their mother and aunt.

    In her words: “I schooled in Benin republic and I graduated from the uni when I was 18.”

    According to the singer, she got into school early because her mother was not going to let her do music until she had a degree and she desperately wanted to be a teenage pop star.

    The singer narrated that she has a degree in International relations and political science and is currently planning on getting another one.

    “I was 18 actually. So my mum said I had to go to school first before she allowed me do any type of music. So it was school first, school first. I made sure I got into school early cos I wanted to become a teenage pop star.

    “My goal was to become a teenage pop year so I knew I had to go to school early. So, I did my WAEC a year before I was supposed to graduate. I just tried it to be honest, I didn’t know if I was going to pass but I aced it you know. I aced it.

    “So I got into school, I schooled in Benin republic and I graduated from the uni when I was 18. My course was 3 years. I have a degree in international relations and Political science. I’m thinking of getting another one. I have been so lazy, I don’t have the time but I’m taking french lesson, piano lessons and music lessons,” Ayra Starr.

    Popular songster, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, aka Ayra Starr, has opined that female artistes are being scrutinized more than their male colleagues.

    She remarked on how grateful she is for her senior female colleagues who have paved the way for budding female singer like herself, however, female and male performers are not treated equally.

    Ayra Starr said: “I am grateful to the women who came before me, who paved the way. Because of them, I am not dealing with so much.     She also spoke on her recently released hit single, “Sability” which has been getting glowing reviews from appreciative fans.

    “Of course, I am excited. I wanted people to feel good and be happy while listening to the song. I am happy it’s doing that and even more. I wanted to put out a song that would make some people remember the times in their lives when they literally had no worries; and, that was how I arrived at ‘Sability’,” she said.

    In an interview, Ayra Starr, who describes herself as a “celestial being”, labelled Rema her brother in Christ.

    The ‘Bloody Samaritan’ singer added that she had never heard a such rumour.

    In her words: “I don’t know. I haven’t heard that before,” she said when questioned about the alleged relationship. That’s my brother in Christ o.”

    The Afrochella Experience celebrates Africa’s diverse culture and the vibrant work of African creatives & entrepreneurs; this year’s edition was themed “Afrofuturism.”

    While performing at the festival, Ayra Starr slipped and fell on her back while trying to give her fans an energetic show.

    She, however, stood on her feet almost immediately and continued the show as if nothing happened.

    Taken to Twitter to express the painful experience, the self-acclaimed celestial being encouraged the organizers to take the cleaning of the stage more seriously.

    “Afrochella next time y’all should clean your stage after every artist performance, that fall was very unnecessary and painful,” she wrote.

    Songs by Nigerian musicians, Burna Boy, Rema and Ayra Starr have been featured by former U.S. president, Barack Obama in his ‘ritual’ list.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports former President Obama at the end of the year always releases his annual list of favourites, including movies and books.

    This has become more of an annual ritual or what you may want to refer to as customary observance for the former President.

    “I always enjoy sharing my end of year music playlist with all of you — and this year we heard a lot of great songs,” Obama wrote.

    TNG reports that Burna Boy’s song that made the list is the popular “Last Last” while that of Rema is “Calm Down” and Ayra Starr’s “Rush”.

    Among his favourite written works, Obama listed “The School for Good Mothers” by Jessamine Chan and “The Light We Carry” by former first lady Michelle Obama, noting, “I’m a bit biased on this one.”

    On his list of favourite movies, the former president included “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Descendant,” which he also noted he was “biased” about since the Netflix documentary was produced by the Obama-founded company Higher Ground Productions.

    Following the ecstatic performance at the show that rocked social media space with positive reactions, Busta Rhymes had a talk with Wizkid.

    Another highlight of the show was when Wizkid paused Dj Tunez to speak to his fans about the track called ‘Balance’ reminding them that the song is a Classic.

    As Universities are expected to fully re-open next week after a protracted strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, a Mavin star singer, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, aka Ayra Starr, has announced plans to perform for free in any tertiary institution with the highest number of her fans known as the ‘Mobstarrs’.

    TheNewsGuru.com reports that ASUU and the Federal Government are gearing up to end the protracted strike.

    However, the “Rush” hit singer offered to give free musical entertainment to students when classes resume.

    The 20-year-old music star promised that fans from the chosen university will get the opportunity to win outfits from her “Rush” video.
