How Baba Suwe killed my acting career after our marriage ended -Ex wife opens up

The wife of Babatunde Omidina, the late Yoruba comic actor popularly known as Baba Suwe, Ayodele Omidina has opened up on the reason behind their separation.

Ayodele during a recent interview disclosed that the late actor “abandoned” her after marrying his colleague Omoladun.

She added that despite her efforts and interventions from others, Baba Suwe never provided an explanation for ending their marriage.

“It’s true, Baba Suwe abandoned me after he married Omoladun. He didn’t give any explanation despite several people going to meet him for reconciliation,” she said.

“So I accepted my fate. However, he still took care of his kids.”

On how they met, Ayodele, who started acting in 1979, said: “We have been together before he (Baba Suwe) started acting. I was still in school when he said he wanted to marry me.”

According to her, after the seperation, Baba Suwe discouraged filmmakers from casting her by spreading the notion that she was solely a housewife.

“I stopped featuring in movies after we separated, but I wasn’t hurt that people stopped calling me for roles because that was something Baba Suwe had already put in place,” she added.

“He used to tell people that they couldn’t cast me all the time because I was a full housewife. That mindset stuck with many of them, which is why they still don’t reach out for movie roles. However, I’m still interested.”

Baba Suwa was born on August 22, 1958. He died on November 22, 2021.

However Adesola said “The case is not about what he told me. Rather, I was involved in the case from the beginning to the end. I was the one that hired the late Bamidele Aturu to handle my father’s case.

“I wouldn’t want to go deep into this issue; it is a story for the future. All the accusations that were levelled against my father were false. My father couldn’t even kill a rat, not to talk of what he was accused of. That was too expensive”, he told Punch.

Speaking further, Baba Suwe’s son stated that the late actor lost some friends and also got denied opportunities of earning money as a brand ambassador to corporate organizations.

“There were some people who loved to associate themselves with my father but after that incident, they withdrew and were also trying to be careful to protect their image.

“My father was not able to enjoy certain privileges which could have come from the government, both state and federal; and also brands. As a young guy, all my income was spent on my father till he died just to make sure he was fine. We thank God for everything.”
