    Unknown mother dumps baby at entrance of Kwara LG Secretariat

    Hajia Ramat Seriki, the Chairman of llorin East Local Government Council of Kwara, has expressed readiness to adopt a baby abandoned at the entrance of the council secretariat in Okeoyi.

    The baby, a female, was abandoned by a yet to be identified person.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some residents of Okeoyi and staff of the council discovered the new born baby girl smartly put on a piece of cloth at the entrance of the secretariat.

    NAN also reports that when the chairman of the council was informed of the incident, she arrived at the secretariat, took the abandoned baby to the Motherless Babies Home, under the state Ministry of Social Welfare.

    Seriki, in an interview with NAN in llorin on Saturday, described the action of the unidentified mother of the abandoned baby as callous, barbaric and unacceptable.

    She said all effort to identify the mother of the baby proved abortive, stating that the baby has been delivered to the Motherless babies home at NNPC Pipeline Road in llorin.

    The Chairman expressed her readiness to adopt the baby if the yet to be identified biological mother refuses to claim the baby.

    “I am fully ready to adopt the baby by signing all necessary documents if nobody claims her within the next three months,’’ she said.

    Seriki said that she would be providing all necessary items for the upbringing of the baby while at the Motherless babies home, pending when she would formally adopt her.

    When contacted on the issue, Hajia Hafsat lbrahim, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Social Welfare, confirmed that the abandoned baby was now at the Motherless home under the ministry.

    She said any arrangement on her adoption by anybody would follow due process at the ministry.

    Bandits leave out woman, baby; whisk away 18 other passengers in Niger State

    Bandits have kidnapped 18 passengers of the Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA) in Niger State.

    According to reports, the attack occurred at Yakila village in Rafi local government area of the state on Sunday, with the bandits leaving a woman and her baby behind and whisking away the other 18 passengers.

    The passengers were said to be heading to Minna, the state capital from Kotangora when the incident happened.

    The Director-General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, Ahmed Inga confirmed the incident to Channels Television.

    Inga who was on his way from Kagara for the revalidation of his All Progressives Congress (APC) membership in the company of the Chief of Staff said they met the scene where the bandits operated.

    He explained that they met the woman and her child who were left behind by the bandits.

    “The only thing I can tell you now is we have rescued the woman and her baby and she is in the vehicle with us and we are on our way to Minna. She told us that the bandits blocked the way and went away with the other 18 passengers on the bus.

    “No government official was among those kidnapped. I can’t give more than that for now because the woman is traumatized and we cannot be asking her too many questions yet,” the SEMA DG said.

    The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a vice principal, Ibrahim Tukur, for raping his 12-year-old student of a community school in the state.

    Briefing journalists on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Gambo Isah, said the suspect raped the teenager serially before impregnating her.

    He explained that the young girl had been delivered of a baby from the pregnancy through a Caesarean section.

    Tukur and other suspects who were paraded at the Katsina Police Command headquarters were said to have been arrested between January 9 and 14.

    “Ibrahim Tukur is a Vice Principal of a Community School in Rimi Local Government Area. He lured this young girl of about 12 years old and serially had unlawful carnal knowledge of her without the knowledge of the parents,” he said.

    “He even impregnated her. Right now, this young girl has been delivered of a baby out of a caesarian section at the General Hospital.”

    While calling on parents to closely monitor their children, the police spokesman said the Command would thoroughly investigate the matter to the end and prosecute the suspects.

    Other suspects paraded included Auwal Hamzat and Sulaiman Abubakar who were alleged to have engaged in anal sex with three boys who were children of their neighbours.

    The neighbours were said to have reported the incident to the police leading to their arrest.

    Kaduna State Police Command had arrested 30-year-old man called Kabiru Suleiman (husband), his wife 19-year-old wife, Aisha Musa and one Salamatu Musa, 27 – all resident of Abuja Road Rigasa over alleged stealing of three-day-old boy.

    Spokesman for Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Jalige Muhammed, who revealed this on Friday said, the couple committed the offence on November 9.

    According to Jalige, “on November 9, 2020, the Kaduna State Police Command received a complaint of a missing three (3) days old baby boy.

    “On receipt of the complaint, the operatives of the command immediately swung into action, gathered sufficient intelligence and succeeded in arresting the suspects namely; Kabiru Suleiman 30yrs (Husband), Aisha Musa 19yrs (Wife) and Salamatu Musa 27yrs of age all resident of Abuja Road Rigasa.

    “It is worthy to note that the suspects started nurturing the evil plan during early period of the pregnancy by coming closer to the expectant mother in the guise of friendship and succeeded in whisking away the baby three days after delivery to unknown destination.

    “The suspects were arrested by the Command’s Operatives on 26th November, 2020 at about 1300hrs in their hideout at Unguwan Baraya Jos Road Bauchi, Bauchi state and recovered the baby safely and subsequently handed him over to his parents.

    “Upon investigation the suspects confessed to the crime and will be charge to court to face the consequences of their action.

    “In light of the above, the Commissioner of Police Kaduna Command, CP Umar M. Muri is calling on the people of Kaduna State to be wary of whom they entrust their Children and wards, to avoid the repeat of such incident as children are precious gift from God which should be guided with all level solemnity”, he added.

    Popular singer, Simi who welcomed a daughter earlier this year has stated that contrary to what many believe, her daughter’s name is not ‘Duduke’.

    Simi made this known during an Instagram Live chat with her fans on Sunday.

    The ‘Jamb Question’ singer said: ““My baby’s name is not ‘Duduke’. ‘Duduke’ is the name of the song I wrote for my child. ‘Duduke’ is the sound of a beat. That is where the title of the song came from. My baby’s name is Adejare, not ‘Duduke’. I love the fact that the song has become a trend and people can connect it.”

    When a fan asked her why she hasn’t been showing her baby’s face, Simi said: ““When are you seeing my baby’s face? I don’t know. It will be when I feel like. You guys already know how I am with social media.”

    The singer also noted that she was open to working with popular rapper, Olamide. She said, “Olamide is a leader in his own right. Collaboration with him won’t be a bad idea.”

    The forward remarried in May 2017, to Juliet Ejue, after divorcing his ex-wife Jamila over “irreconcilable differences”

    This is the second child between Musa and Juliet after welcoming their first in February 2018, although the 27-year-old winger has two children with his former wife.

    The ex-Leicester City forward took to social media to herald the good news while also thanking God for the safe delivery of his child.

    “Life is indeed a gift and Allah has decided to give us a gift that can’t be bought with money,” Musa posted on Instagram.

    “He decided to bless my family this morning with a bouncing baby boy. Mother and baby are doing well. Thank you for all your prayers and support always.”

    A 15-year-old in Kokori community, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State allegedly dumped her baby in the bush after delivery.

     

    She told police that she got rid of the baby because she could not take care of it, adding that she hoped someone would find the baby and take care of it.

    A passerby rescued the child.

    The teenage mother said she did not know who the baby’s father was, but police said they would try to find him.
