Pastor Bakare urges youths not to give up on politics

The Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has urged youths in the country not to be discouraged from the political stage despite the “moneybags and bullion van politicians”.

Bakare, who was the vice-presidential candidate to the current president, Muhammadu Buhari, decried the refusal of old Nigerians to leave the political stage for the youths.

According to him, the “moneybags and bullion van politicians” want to be in power without considering the younger ones.

He described as a shame, the attitude of older Nigerian politicians, who he said have refused to give the youth a chance in leadership positions.

The Pastor spoke on Saturday at the launch of an autobiography, “Footsteps of a Rebel’, written by the Babanla Adinni of Egbaland, Chief Tayo Sowunmi, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, to mark his 80th birthday.

It is a shame that while younger generations are taking over leadership in other countries, older generation refuses to leave the stage in Nigeria

While delivering a speech tagged ‘Worthy Nation Building Legacies By The Older Generation of Nigerians’, Bakare called for inter-generational re-integration between older and younger generations.

Bakare opined that it is part of efforts to rebuild the Nigerian nation.

He maintained that “It is a shame that while younger generations are taking over leadership in other countries, older generation refuses to leave the stage in Nigeria.”

The Pastor condemned the alleged sidestepping of the youth, saying this has hampered the development of Nigeria.

“The nation’s development has suffered because of the marginalization of the youth and the progressives who abandoned politics,” Bakare said.

While calling for generational reintegration from the households, the Ogun indigene called for the embracing of cultural values to foster nation-building.

He also suggested mentoring and leadership development for the younger generation.

  • Bad leadership: Fela’s daughter slams Nigerian celebrities

Outspoken daughter of the late afro-beat icon Fela Kuti, Motunrayo -Kuti, is sad over the failure of Nigerian celebrities to address core national issues in the country.

Motunrayo noted that these celebrities are dummies ,because they do not have the progress of the nation at heart.

She questioned celebrities who have the ability to use their platform towards national development but fail to condemn bad leadership.

“Nigeria is lost. Why do Nigerians like too much fake life? Why are people with voices not addressing the problems we have in Nigeria? Why is everybody acting like all is well when clearly it isn’t? If you are a celebrity and you can’t speak up about the state and problems in our so called great country Nigeria, I don’t respect you. To whom voice is given voice is expected, morons.

” Politicians will promise your village wheel barrow and bore holes and they will be happy. You’re here in Lagos claiming happiness is free. I don’t even know who is crazy again.

“I have no respect for these motherfuckers’ men. You can kiss my big wide fat ass with your luxury houses and cars and life style cause to me you are brain dead. Celebrity mumu, government chicken slay mama, government chicken slay papa, Opkonu, dummy, jokers, uneducated slay papa”, she told Vanguard.

  • Nigeria @57: Our problem in Nigeria is bad leadership not corruption – Onitiri

A social commentator, Chief Adesunbo Onitiri has said Nigeria’s myriad of problems is caused by bad leadership and not corruption as made to believe by the ruling class.

Onitiri stated this in his independence message to Nigerians on Thursday.

He also advised President Muhammadu Buhari to cut down cost of running governance in Nigeria.

Onitiri, an accomplished and reputable Estate Surveyor/Valuer noted that Nigerians have not yet to feel the impact of good governance in the country because the cost of maintaining public office holders is too high.

His statement reads in full: “President Buhari should raise new generation of visionary, patriotic and committed politicians that will take us to the promised land.

Our present political structure has been taken over by looters, vagabonds and thugs who don’t mean well for our country.

Besides, President Buhari should cut down on the cost of governance, slash down salaries and entitlements of political office holders especially the take-home pay of National Assembly members.

He should strive to plug all loopholes and conduit pipes in government so that it will be difficult to steal by politicians and government officials.

The problem of Nigeria is visionary Leadership and NOT CORRUPTION.

The Presidency should ensure that all strategic public appointments are distributed equally amongst the six geographical zones so that no zone is marginalized. The Presidency should promptly attend to all genuine agitations of marginalization and nepotisms.

Happy independent anniversary and God bless Nigeria.
