Bauchi govt hands over Misau hospital to FG

Bauchi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Federal Government through the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, ceding and transferring ownership of the General Hospital, Misau, to the Federal Government.

The MoA was signed between the two on Monday in a brief ceremony held at the EXCO Chambers of the Governor’s Office by the Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, and the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate.

Speaking during the ceremony, Bala Mohammed declared that only the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, embodies President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s renewed hope.

The Governor believes that the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, under the supervision of Prof. Ali Pate, has been so useful and important in meeting the challenges facing the health sector of the country.

According to him, “I have always said that we are proud of the Minister because he is a good ambassador of Bauchi. The partnership we are having with the minister of state shows the partnership of mutual respect that allows states to actualize their aspiration. ”

“I can see the teamwork being established by Prof. Pate. We thank you most sincerely. All the governors are with you because you came and gave us the renewed hope agenda, and it is only in you that we are seeing hope because you are doing it with a sense of justice and seriousness.”

He also stated, “And that you are from Bauchi is the responsibility of you and your team, but to the whole country, and this is the kind of leadership we need.”

While praising the President for the appointment of Prof. Pate, Bala Mohammed urged him to appoint people like Prof. Pate to re-invigorate the Federal Cabinet.

He said that the state government would borrow from the programs and initiatives of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare under the leadership of Prof. Pate, stressing that his administration is guided by a plan, ‘My Bauchi Project,’ which is reviewed from time to time to address noticed gaps.

He said that, “This is important to achieve the results we have set out to do. The health infrastructure that you have established during your short time under Mr. President all over the country shows that we have people with foresight.”

Speaking earlier, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate said that the delegation was in Bauchi for a performance management retreat of leaders of federal government health sectors in Bauchi and to revamp federal health institutions in the state, which had begun across the countries.

According to him, “There is also the upgraded Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital in Azare as well, for which we will sign the MOU with the Governor, signifying the ceding of that general hospital to become a federal establishment.”

“The third is regarding emergency services. Health emergencies occur and are unpredictable. We realise that access to an ambulance to take you to the hospital can be a challenge. We need to find a system to quickly deploy people to health facilities,” he added.

The Minister also said, “We are kicking off the National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance Scheme (NEMSAS) with the Bauchi State SEMSAS and Rural Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance Scheme with several ambulances.”

Your policies are not working – Bala Mohammed tells Tinubu

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has called on the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government to review its current monetary and fiscal policies, stating that they are not working effectively.

The governor made this call at the launch of the Nigeria Development Update in Abuja on Thursday.
Mohammed urged the government to avoid being dogmatic in its approach, emphasizing the urgent need for change due to the growing hardship in the country.

He highlighted the plight of ordinary Nigerians, warning that hunger and economic hardship have created a volatile situation. He revealed that even people in his position are facing the threat of being lynched by frustrated citizens.

Mohammed also called on the federal government to develop more effective economic policies, stressing that the funds currently being received are insufficient to address the widespread hunger.

“When the reforms started, the sub-nationals supported the President. But now, the macroeconomic policies causing inflation need to be reconsidered. There is hunger, people are suffering, and Nigerians are not benefitting from these reforms.

“What are you doing to reduce hunger? We must help the people cope.
“The purchasing power of the people has drastically diminished.

“My brother Cardoso (CBN governor), these policies are not working. They need to be reviewed. Let’s not resort to blackmail,” the governor said.

PDP crisis now resolved – Bala Mohammed

The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) on Tuesday said that the internal crisis rocking the party had been resolved.

The forum’s Chairman, Gov. Bala Mohammed, stated this in an interview with newsmen at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, after the forum’s meeting.

Mohammed said that stakeholders within the party had agreed that all the suspensions within the National Working Committee (NWC) be set aside and the status quo maintained.

He said that the forum, alongside the National Assembly caucus and the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), had met and reaffirmed that “there is no faction in PDP.

“All the suspensions you heard about have been resolved by the governors, the NWC, the caucus of the National Assembly and the BoT.

“There is no faction; everything has reverted to the status quo under the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, pending the time the governors and other organs of the party will sit down and resolve all the issues.

“There is no party that does not have problems. Some of them are legal, and we do not want to preempt the outcome of the legal procedures.

“So, whatever speculations and perceptions that might have gone out are wrong.

“Both parties have agreed that in the interest of the party and Nigeria, we should return to the status quo before the suspension and counter-suspension.

“These suspensions have been lifted; there are no more suspensions. That is the resolution of the PDP-GF,” he said.

Mohammed advised members of the party to make sacrifices and come together.

“Yes, we may have ill feelings here and there but we should bury them. Our personal feelings should not be allowed to create perceptions that seem to divide us,” he said.

Asked if the Oct. 24 NWC meeting of the party would still hold, Mohamed said that the governors, BoT and NWC would discuss it.

Also speaking with newsmen at the airport, the acting National Chairman of the party, Umar Damagum, said there was no crisis in the party.

Damagum said that some people only wanted to take advantage of the situation.

He urged the media not to escalate things, even where there was no crisis.

“As far as I’m concerned, the governors are our leaders and critical organs of this party, and when they speak, we must look at it holistically and also abide by it,” he said.

Asked if the two suspended members of NWC, Debo Ologunagba and Kamaldeen Ajibade, had left PDP, Damagum said that they were still in the party.

Meanwhile, a communique issued by the PDP-GF after the forum’s virtual meeting held on Monday and Tuesday, said that the party was careful in addressing issues, particularly those over which there were pending legal disputations.

The communique, signed by Mohammed, said that after consultations with BOT, NWC and other organs of the party, the forum resolved “that the NWC should revert to the status quo and remain united in the interest of the party and the nation.

“We also resolved that all suspensions issued on officials across the parties within the NWC have been lifted forthwith.

“That there are no factions in the party and minor issues should not be blown out of proportion.

“We also urge that occupants of positions of responsibility should be mindful of their vow to serve and grow the party from strength to strength, consolidating on the dreams of our founding fathers,” the communique stated.

Other attendees of the virtual meeting, according to the communique, were governors of Rivers, Bayelsa, Edo, Oyo, Osun, Zamfara Delta, Adamawa, Plateau and Enugu states.

NAN reports that two factions of the party NWC had, on Friday, emerged within the PDP, with each faction suspending key officers of the NWC.

The Damagum-led faction of the NWC had suspended the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba and National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, for alleged disloyalty.

The faction also appointed their deputies, Manga and Osuoha as acting national publicity secretary and acting national legal adviser, respectively.

Meanwhile, another NWC faction, in a statement issued by Ologunagba, also announced the suspension of Damagum and the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, for alleged anti-party activity.

The faction also announced Alhaji Yayari Mohammed as the new acting national chairman of the party.

What Fubara did with Rivers LG election is auspicious, creative – Bauchi Gov

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has described Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers as a true democrat, even as he commended the ‘successful’ conduct of Saturday’s local government elections in the State.

Muhammed, also the Chairman, Governors’ Forum of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), stated this in a statement issued by Fubara’s Press Secretary, Mr Nelson Chukwudi, and made available to newsmen on Monday in Port Harcourt.

He affirmed Rivers as a PDP state, notwithstanding the fact that the 23 newly-elected local government chairmen and councillors, who were sworn-in on Sunday, were not only from the party.

The governor also commended his Rivers counterpart for being proactive in the delivery of good governance at the local government level, irrespective of party allegiance or consideration.

“He didn’t have a structure of the PDP in the state for certain reasons and he had to go out to make sure that he allowed other parties to participate within the political space so that there won’t be any vacuum.

“I think this is auspicious and creative, and I am very proud of him. Yes, we have lost as a party, and that is why we want to run away from this,” he said.

Muhammed also assured of possible reconciliation of the current crisis bedevilling PDP so as to achieve the desired unity within the party.

Meanwhile, speaking to the press after attending the swearing-in ceremony of 23 local government chairmen in Rivers State, the Bauchi State Governor expressed admiration for Governor Fubara’s proactive leadership.

“As the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, I commend Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his unwavering dedication to strengthening democracy through inclusive governance.

“Speaking to the press after attending the swearing-in ceremony of 23 local government chairmen in Rivers State, I expressed my admiration for Governor Fubara’s proactive leadership. His ability to navigate complex political challenges with strategic insight has allowed officials from various political parties to serve at the local level, reflecting a commitment to governance that transcends partisan lines.

“Even though the PDP has lost control in some regions, Governor Fubara remains a loyal member of our party, and his democratic principles are widely recognized. His approach, which ensures governance without political barriers, serves as an exemplary model for other governors.

“Drawing from my own experiences in Bauchi, where I have faced similar political challenges, I applaud Fubara’s ability to lead effectively despite the complexities he faces. His leadership demonstrates how to navigate difficult political terrain while prioritizing the greater good.

“Furthermore, I reaffirm the unwavering support of the PDP Governors’ Forum for Governor Fubara.

“In conclusion, I am confident that our efforts toward party unity and reconciliation will bear fruit. The PDP Governors’ Forum stands firmly behind Governor Fubara as we continue to support his leadership and the values he upholds,” Muhammed wrote via his official Facebook page.

  • Your party has always been a cesspool of crisis and dysfunction- APC replies Bala Mohammed

Your party has always been a cesspool of crisis and dysfunction- APC replies Bala Mohammed

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has replied to the comment made by Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi, blaming the ruling party for the crisis rocking the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

TheNewsGuru.com earlier reported  Bala Mohammed accused of APC creating moles in states controlled by the PDP to cause divisions in the opposition party.

A faction of the NWC is reportedly loyal to Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), who has been at loggerheads with Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers, over the control of political structure in the state.

The PDP governors’ forum is also divided over the continued stay of Damagum as the party’s acting chairman.

Some of the governors are reportedly loyal to Damagum and want him to continue in the position, while those opposed to his continued stay are calling for the election of a new national chairman.

However, in a statement on Friday, signed by tne national publicity secretary of the party, Felix Morka, said the crisis is “endemic to the PDP,” adding that “dysfunction is deeply engraved in its institutional DNA”.

Morka said the conflict in the PDP has nothing to do with the ruling party.

According to him, the Bauchi governor may have forgotten that the PDP has a history of leadership imbroglio, noting that the present crisis in the opposition party was caused by the violation of zoning principles.

“The PDP has been and remains a cesspool of sleaze, crisis, and dysfunction. And that has got nothing to do with APC. Crisis is endemic to the PDP, and dysfunction is deeply engraved in its institutional DNA,” the statement reads.

“The PDP is the sole author of the intractable crisis that bedevils it. A party so grossly inept and incapable of governing its own internal affairs cannot possibly be trusted with the important task of governing Africa’s most populous country.

“Governor Mohammed is either a poor student of his party’s history or he is choosing, mischievously, to turn that history on its head.

“If not crisis, what else do we call the track record of leadership imbroglio, some of which predates the formation of APC?

“How else do we describe the chaotic rise and fall of the party’s National Chairmen in the likes of Barnabas Gemade, Audu Ogbeh, Vincent Ogbulafor, Okwesilieze Nwodo, Bamanga Tukur, Ali Modu Sherrif, Ahmed Makarfi, Uche Secondus, and Iyorcha Ayu?

“The latest episode of its crisis was, among other potent factors, a result of the PDP’s failure to adhere to the dictates of its constitution on zoning and power sharing for presidential candidate and national chairmanship positions between the north and south zones.

“In flagrant disregard of its constitution, the party decided to concentrate both positions in one zone and digging itself into a deeper crisis.

“Rather than point fingers at our great party for its endless woes, Governor Mohammed and his partners in crisis should eat the humble pie, and search within for solutions, or, better still, save us all the trouble and wind down altogether.”

Crisis in PDP is caused by APC, says Bala Mohammed

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has alleged that the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is caused by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The governor raised the accusation on Thursday during a courtesy visit by the PDP Board of Trustees, led by Senator Adolphus Wabara, at the Government House in Bauchi.

Mohammed, who is also Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, alleged that the APC planted moles within the PDP to keep them informed.

The governor made reference to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, a PDP member serving under the APC, saying that he was baffled by the bizarre situation.

He stressed the need to close ranks, stressing that the challenge is not insurmountable, as it would be overcome by the grace of God, insisting they will find a solution.

According to him, “It is only PDP with the experience of governance that is being challenged. And you will notice that this is a creation of the other side (APC). They want us to be in disarray.”

Mohammed expressed delight with the PDP’s capacity to address its crisis, saying that the APC does not have people who can perform like their members, as it is a recognition that the PDP has the human capital to deliver Nigeria.

Senator Wabara, on his part, explained that the delegation aimed to discuss the party’s crisis, particularly in Rivers State and the election of a substantive National Chairman, stressing that members of the Board, are a select few; who have the future of the party at heart.

He assured of the PDP’s capacity to rescue Nigeria despite concerns, lamenting that they are not happy with what is happening in the party, and don’t think Nigerians are happy.

Maiduguri flood: Bauchi govt to feed 10,000 victims

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has announced that his government would take responsibility for feeding a total of 10,000 flood-affected persons in Borno State.

Bauchi scraps ministry of local government

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has announced the scrapping of the State’s Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

He stated this during  the swearing-in of three newly appointed commissioners and the Chief Security Adviser to the governor, on Monday in Bauchi.

Mohammed said the measure was sequel to the Supreme Court judgment’s granting autonomy to local government areas in the country.

The governor also sacked the Commissioner for Health, Dr Adamu Umar, saying that the decision was to rejig the machinery of governance for more results.

“We have to rejig the cabinet in order to achieve the set objectives of the administration. We need to bring in fresh blood, brains with fresh ideas of how to move the state ahead positively.

“The former commissioner for health was not dropped because of any infractions, it was just part of reorganisation of governance. Very soon, we will find a way to fix him in government where he will be most relevant and more active,” he said.

Mohammed tasked the commissioners to immediately settle down to business by studying handover notes in their respective ministries.

This, he said, would enable them to catch up with the speed of the administration.

The new commissioners are: Zainab Baba Takko – Women Affairs; Dr Sani Mohammed – Health and Mohammed AbdulKadir – Commerce and Industry.

While Ahmed Abdulrahman has been sworn-in as the Chief Security Adviser.

Speaking on behalf of the commissioners, Baba-Takko thanked Mohammed for giving them the opportunity to serve and contribute to the development of the state.

She promised to deploy mechanisms to take their ministries to great heights.
