    Gov Mohammed reveals outcome of PDP Govs meeting

    Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has disclosed the outcome of the meeting of Governors elected under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the PDP Governors under the aegis of the PDP Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) held the meeting on Tuesday in Abuja.

    The PDP governors in a communique issued after the meeting, called on the Federal Government to tackle the issue of insecurity in the country.

    The communique was read by Governor Mohammed, who is the forum’s Chairman.

    Mohammed said that the governors at the meeting expressed their concerns on the deteriorating security situation in the country especially the destruction of lives and properties in Plateau and Zamfara States, among others.

    “The meeting consequently advised the Federal Government and security agencies to rise to the situation and bring the situation under control.

    “In the interim, the Forum would cooperate with the Federal Government on issues concerning the welfare of Nigerians and good governance while striving to maintain the independence and autonomy of the forum through offering constructive criticisms where necessary,” Mohammed said.

    He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the security agencies and the federal government to be neutral in the conduct of the off-season elections in Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo States.

    Mohammed said that the meeting resolved to work together and unite the forum.

    “The aim of the forum is to provide a platform for peer review of issues, policies, programmes and achievements (legacy projects) of member-Governors across the PDP States,” he said.

    Asked of their stand on a PDP substantive national chairman, Mohammed said it is an affair for the party to decide not the governors.

    All the governors elected on the platform of PDP were in attendance except that of Rivers, Mr Siminalayi Fubara.

    When asked why he was not at the meeting, Mohammed explained  that Fubara took excuse that he would not be able to attend.

    The forum chairman however assured that all PDP governors are united.

    Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has been elected as the new Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum.

    Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa announced this on Saturday shortly after a closed-door meeting held at the Government House, Bauchi.

    The 13 PDP governors and bigwigs of the party were in Bauchi for a one-day retreat for the officials elected under its platform.

    Fintiri also said that Gov. Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers has been elected Vice Chairman of the forum.

    He said that Mohammed was elected based on his competence and capability to steer the forum to greater heights.

    Responding, Mohammed promised to with his colleagues for the development of the party and the nation.

    “My emergence as the Chairman, PDP Governors’ Forum is a mark of honour to me and the entire people of Bauchi State.

    “I’m using this opportunity to call on all my colleagues to support me in order to move the forum and the party forward,” he said.

    Gov Mohammed dissolves cabinet, fires all political officeholders

    Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has dissolved the state Executive Council, terminating the appointment of all political officeholders in the state.

    The Secretary to the State Government, Mr Ibrahim Kashim, said this at a news conference on Thursday in Bauchi shortly after the state Executive Council meeting.

    Kashim said that the action was inline with the provision of the constitution, adding that the governor would constitute another council after his swearing-in on May 29.

    “As you are aware, the inauguration of his excellency for the second term comes up on Monday 29 at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium.

    “From a valedictory session of the council meeting today which was supposed to be the last under this first term administration as it draws the curtain of the council.

    “The council was dissolved, meaning that all the political appointees, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Advisers, Chairmen of Boards and board members of all agencies and companies have been dissolved,” he said.

    Kashim said that during the meeting, the governor thanked every member of the council for his dedication leading to the success of the administration.

    “On the part of the members, they all individually thanked the governor for the opportunity given to them to contribute their quota towards the development of the state.

    “They also pledged their loyalty and allegiance to him whether they found themselves in or outside the government to be sworn in on May 29,” he said.

    I will accept election outcome, says Bauchi governor

    Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State said he was ready to accept the outcome of the Governorship and State Assembly election in the state.

    Mohammed stated this in an interview with journalists shortly after casting his vote at Bakin Dutse Polling Unit 008 in Duguri village of Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.

    According to him, “I hope the higher the turnout the more they vote for me but I wouldn’t say because I can not predict.

    “However, I’m happy that everything appears to be very peaceful. People are looking so joyous and excited.

    “I feel that this is the kind of situation we need all over the country. People exercising their franchise without any hindrance, acrimony or conflict.

    “We are very grateful to God and we are ready to really accept the outcome.

    “We will continue to do anything as a state to make sure that the election is peaceful and the outcome by the grace of God, is acceptable”.

    Mohammed, who exprssed satisfaction with seamless operation of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in the unit, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the orderly conduct of the election.

    “INEC has done very well as far as I’m concerned. Whether it is manual or electronic, you can see that the process is very peaceful and orderly.

    “As soon as we came, the BVAS worked and they didn’t even have to snap me as I just used my fingers and my picture showed and then it ticked. It took not more 10 minutes for me to vote. INEC has done very well,” Mohammed said.

    The Bauchi Emirate Council has appointed Alhaji Muhammad Kari, as the new Wazirin Bauchi and member of the Emirate Council.

    This is contained in a statement by the Information Officer in the Emirate, Mr. Babangida Jahun, in Bauchi on Thursday.

    According to him, the newly appointed Wazirin Bauchi would be turbanned on Friday at the Emir’s palace.

    The decision was a sequel to the removal of the former title holder, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello-Kirfi by the Emirate Council on Wednesday.

    Bauchi commissioner resigns over alleged father’s disrespect to gov Bala

    Bauchi State Commissioner of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, Sa’adatu Bello Kirfi has resigned after her father, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Kirfi, was removed as the Wazirin Bauchi and Council member of Bauchi Emirate for allegedly disrespecting Governor Bala Mohammed.

    The commissioner tendered her resignation less than 24 hours after her father was dethroned.

    In the letter addressed to the governor through the Secretary to the State Government, the former commissioner thanked him for considering her worthy to serve.

    “Your Excellency, I wish to humbly tender my resignation as member, Bauchi State Executive Council and Hon Commissioner Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs Development, Bauchi State with immediate effect.”

    “I wish to thank His Excellency the Executive Governor for giving me the opportunity to serve mu State under your Administration,” Saadatu wrote.

    Kirfi was suspended as the Wazirin Bauchi by the Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, in 2017 but was subsequently reinstated by Governor Mohammed who presented the letter of reinstatement at Kirfi’s residence in Bauchi on August 5, 2022.

    He served as Minister of State Foreign Affairs under President Shehu Shagari and also Minister of Special Duties during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

    Bandits: Anyone who comes to attack you, kill him – Bala Mohammed blows hot

    Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has urged residents of the state to defend themselves in any form against bandits.

    Mohammed disclosed during his condolence visit to  Duguri, Alkaleri Local Government Area where bandits killed 20 people in Rimi Village recently.

    Many of the residents were said to have been wounded by the bandits in what appeared to be a reprisal.

    The attack come after the Police, in collaboration with vigilance group members, killed 12 suspected bandits in a forest in the district.

    Sounding very angry, Mohammed said:  ”I know you people to be warriors, including your women. That is the way it should be.

    “We should defend ourselves from any form of banditry and criminal activities. What you did was the right thing.

    ”From now on, anyone who comes to attack or kill you, defend yourselves. Attack and kill him; they can’t stop us from living in peace.

    “All these communities have been existing for over 500 years, we will not allow these Zamfarawa (bandits) to chase us away from our ancestral land.”

    “You are known to be warriors.  You should not allow bad elements to subdue you; defend your land and liberate yourselves,”

    Gov. Mohammed announces automatic employment for medical students in Bauchi

    Students offering medical and health courses in Bauchi State will henceforth enjoy automatic employment after graduation in the state.

    Gov. Bala Mohammed announced the scheme on Thursday in Bauchi while inaugurating two newly constructed primary healthcare centres in Gidan Dubu and Fadamamada communities in Bauchi metropolis.

    He said that the two health facilities were constructed with development partners like the UNICEF, European Union (EU) and USAID.

    “As a measure to maintain the major optimum requirements to the healthcare profession in the state, this administration has reintroduced the pre service scheme where students offering medical and health courses are given automatic employment.

    “That is our health students, the midwives and the nurses that are in our tertiary institutions,” he said.

    According to him, government placed a high premium on healthcare delivery as it believed in the saying that ‘health is wealth and a healthy society is a productive society’.”

    He said for this reason, his administration had been trying to address the challenges of the health sector, especially in the areas of service delivery, infrastructure and human resource development.

    “Consequently, since the inception of this administration, we have been able to construct four general hospitals where there were none as well as 15 primary healthcare centres.

    “We have also renovated and equipped 10 secondary and 10 primary health facilities across the state.

    “These are in addition to the 107 and 204 primary and secondary health facilities, renovated and upgraded through the support of EU, UNICEF and NSHIP projects respectively,” he said.

    Mohammed assured the people of the state that all developmental projects started by this administration would be completed within the remaining life span of his administration.

    Also, the Bauchi state Commissioner for Health, Mr Sabiu Gwalabe, lauded the governor for the high priority given to the health sector in the state.

    He added that within the past three years of the present administration, laudable projects and programmes had been initiated and accomplished.

    The commissioner called on the benefiting communities to appreciate the present government for making their decade long dreams a reality.

    Mr Oluseyi Olusehinde, Health Specialist from UNICEF, said that the organization had been enjoying partnership with the Bauchi State Government.

    He said “in addition to the contribution you are making yearly to this PHC MoU, we are glad to say that every year, you are adding new structures, new primary health care centres to the number of primary healthcare centres in Bauchi State.

    “We are also grateful to say that by the beginning of your administration, there were some wards in Bauchi without PHC centres but as at now, we are glad to say that you have covered all those wards.

    The state government, on Nov. 17, allocated N30.5 billion to the state Ministry of Health out of the N202 billion 2023 budget presented by the governor to the state House of Assembly for approval.

    Bauchi governor explains aggrieved letter to PDP

    Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State said that he wrote a letter to the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to register his grievances over anti-party activities against his re-election bid by some of its members in the state.

    Mohammed gave the clarifications after a closed door meeting with the five governors of the PDP Integrity Group otherwise called PDP – G5, on Wednesday in Bauchi.

    “As a loyal member of the party, I felt betrayed, hence the letter to seek for redress,” he said.

    He said the letter was with all honesty, sincerity and a deep sense of fidelity, adding, “that was why the party invited me to discuss with its presidential flag bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in Abuja.

    “We discussed extensively and I have gotten some explanations because the letter I wrote was not only written by me, it was written by the PDP family in Bauchi State, the government of Bauchi State, and that is why I was there,” he said.

    Also speaking, Gov. Samuel Ortom, made further clarifications on alleged statement credited to him that, “he would never support a Fulani man to become the president of Nigeria”.

    He, however, apologised to people who may have felt offended by the remarks.

    “I want to say that, that was not what I meant when I was captured saying that. But all the same, I know it will amount to logical fallacy.

    “If people have taken it the way I did but I want to say, to those who are offended by my remarks, I didn’t mean that. I am sorry about that,” he said.

    For his part, Nyesom Wike explained that the PDP – G5 governors are opened for dialogue, and never closed doors for reconciliation.

    “All we are asking for is equity, fairness and justice and that is the hallmark of what PDP stands for.

    “We have never closed the door and we will not close the door. All we are saying is let the right thing be done,” he said.

    Mohammed held a closed door meeting with Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.

    Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed on Wednesday said having the backing of G5 governors on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is fulfilling and he has something in common with them.

    He spoke while playing host to the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and Ifeanyi Uguwanyi of Enugu State.

    Mohammed said: “The Governors of G5, they called themselves ‘Integrity Group’. I’m supposed to be with them but they excommunicated me for some reason best known to them. But I’m highly connected with them, each and every one of them. There is no day that I don’t call to speak with each of them.”

    He noted that the G5 governors always look out for others in the Governors Forum, saying “we have something in common.”

    Mohammed further said: “When you know that you have people behind you, of that stature and that calibre, you feel fulfilled.”
