North’ll still produce next president in 2023 – Bala Mohammed

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has insisted that the North would produce the next president after Mohammadu Buhari leaves office in 2023

Mohammed said the claim that power must shift to the Southern part of the country in 2023 is meant for the All Progressives Congress, APC, and not the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He said the North still has four years left, based on the arrangement of the PDP.

Mohammed disclosed this when a Contact and Consultation Committee he set up for his presidential ambition submitted its report to him on Friday at the Government House in Bauchi.

Mohammed said, “We are aware of the agitations of the southern part of the country because the leader of the country today, President Muhammadu Buhari, who is from the North, will finish his tenure in 2023, so power should rotate to the South.

“But I want to say that I am in PDP, I am not in APC. It is the APC that has this burden (of zoning the presidency to the South).

“In my party, the last President was from the South and he was my President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. During this period, my party was at the centre for 16 years, 14 of those years were led by the people from the South, so where is the justice and the justification? Therefore, it is the turn of the North (to produce the President).”

Some political stakeholders have been agitating for the Presidency to shift to the Southern part of the country.

Igbos have been in the forefront, agitating for the Presidency to move to their Southeast in 2023.

They claimed that Igbos have been denied the chance to rule Nigeria for too long, stressing that other regions have produced the president but Igbo’s

2023: Gov Wike endorses sitting governor as Nigeria’s next president

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has endorsed the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed to become the President of Nigeria in 2023.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Governor Wike endorsed Governor Mohammed as Nigeria’s next president during his one-day visit to Bauchi on Saturday.

He praised the personal and political qualities of the Bauchi State Governor, stating that he has both the character and experience to lead Nigeria.

Wike added that Governor Bala is very qualified for the job and called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as well as Nigerians to support his ambition.

“I endorse Bauchi State governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, for president come 2023,” Wike declared.

“He is qualified in every ramification. His relationship with people is second to none. So people calling on him to run for president have seen the qualities in him.

“Apart from that, the fact that Bala has had all the experiences, from the civil service down to political office from a Director in the ministry, he became a senator, a minister and now a governor, that alone is enough to qualify him,” he added.

He said a vote for Mohammed is not misplaced as the Bauchi Governor is overqualified, saying that, “let me use that word if there is any word like that at all.”

Speaking further on why he is endorsing Mohammed, Wike submitted that the Bauchi Governor’s achievements in about three years in office speak for him.

“Look at what he is doing in Bauchi. Look at his pedigree, what he is doing as a first term governor.

“I have been here to flag off projects. So many of my colleagues have been here to flag off projects. How many first time governors do you see doing that?” he queried.

“I want to appeal to the good people of Bauchi state to support their governor. Give him all the support that he needs as you can see that if you give him the support, he will also serve you very well.

“He is not a governor that is actually ruling or governing you, he is a governor who is serving you,” he said.

Abubakar also commended the state House of Assembly for its continued support to the executive , despite the fact that it’s being controlled by an opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“It is a working opposition party. In other words, the development of the state is far more important to them than the differences in political beliefs.

“Mr Speaker, I want you to convey my appreciation to members of the state assembly for the cooperation you have been giving to the governor and I believe you will continue to give him,” Abubakar said.

The former vice president also appreciated the state governor and the people of Bauchi state for inviting him to commission the road as well as naming it after him, and called on all and sundry in the state to keep supporting the state government.

Jonathan made this known in Bauchi while inaugurating the 6.25Km Sabon Kaura-Jos by-pass road constructed by the Bauchi state government.

”There are people who act like they can’t eat without you when you’re in a position of power. But once you’re no longer in that position, they move on and act like you no longer exist.

”It is a very big day for me and you know why? Because it’s not easy for somebody to work with you in Nigeria then after leaving office, that person still continues with that kind of strong fraternal relationship with you.

”I have been in government for a reasonable time and I’ve served at quite a number of levels starting from deputy governor.

“Most of my experience is that after leaving office, some people just forget that you even exists.

He appreciated the people of Bauchi state for voting Mohammed as their governor and commended his good strides and total commitment in changing the face of the state.
