    SAD! Again, bandits attack Southern Kaduna, k!lling 8, injure 20

    Armed bandits launched a deadly attack on Wake village in the Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State early Sunday, killing eight people and leaving at least 20 others wounded, some in critical condition.

    The attackers also kidnapped an unspecified number of locals during the raid.

    As of the time of this report, the community is conducting burials for the deceased while mobilizing to care for the severely injured. The exact number of individuals abducted remains unknown.

    No official statement has yet been issued by the Kaduna State Police Command.

    SAD! Bandits storm mosque k!ll 13 worshippers in Katsina

    Bandits have stormed a mosque in Unguwan Mantau Community, Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing 13 worshippers.

    The incident occurred during the early morning (Fajr) prayers when bandits armed with dangerous weapons stormed a mosque and opened fire on the worshippers.

    It was said to be in retaliation for the community’s successful defence efforts two days earlier.

    The State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasiru Mu’azu, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, describing the incident as “a reprisal attack undertaken by the hoodlums after residents of the area had earlier confronted the bandits.

    According to Mu’azu, the Katsina State Government has already announced immediate security reinforcements and support measures following the tragic incident.

    He said the security agencies are currently on the ground in Unguwan Muntau to restore normalcy.
    “The incident occurred when criminal elements launched a reprisal attack on the community.

    The Muslim members of the community were praying in the mosque during the Fajr prayer when the criminal element started shooting sporadically in the mosque.
    “The attack was in retaliation for the community’s successful defence efforts two days earlier.

    “The people of Unguwan Mantau decided to lay an ambush against the bandits and killed many of them. They rescued victims taken from Ruwan Sanyi village, seized 3 motorcycles, and 2 AK-47s. The security agencies are now on the ground in Unguwan Muntau to restore normalcy”, he noted.

    The Commissioner maintained that, Air component commander of the Forward Operating Base, Nigerian Army, and Nigerian Police Force, have already been deployed to clear the bandits, as during the rainy season, bandits, according to him, hide under the crops to perpetrate their evil acts.

    “We are working towards bringing the bandits to book. As Government, we salute the gallantry and disposition of the people of Unguwar Mantau, and we are committed to fighting these bandits and ensuring safety across our communities.

    “The State Government extends heartfelt condolences to the families affected and reaffirms its unwavering support for community-based security initiatives while working to eliminate criminal elements from the region”, he added.

    The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye,has denied reports on Thursday while briefing journalists on the activities of the Armed Forces in Abuja that Turji Bello has surrendered.

    “Simple answer to the question about terrorist leader, Bello Turji; Turji has not surrendered, we are still on the look out for him,” Kangye said.

    Recall that Turji has been accused of masterminding several attacks on communities in the North-West.

    Turji operates mainly in Zamfara and Sokoto states.

    The bandit leader had been variously declared wanted by Nigerian security agencies.

    Recently, there were reports that the bandit kingpin had surrendered his arms and released 32 kidnap victims.

    The report came after a purported peace initiative brokered by Islamic clerics in Zamfara State.

    Bandits abduct top RCCG pastor in Nasarawa

    A pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, named Faturoti Olaniyi, was abducted by gunmen in Karu, Nasarawa State.

    Early on Wednesday, June 24, 2025, the gunmen stormed Olaniyi’s home at the Redeemed Christian Church of God property near Bristol Academy, Federal Housing Authority (FHA) in Karu, and kidnapped him.

    Zagazola Makama, a security analyst, stated that the attackers entered the building at around 1:30 in the morning, fired several shots, and then took the victim away to an unidentified location.

    According to their source, residents fled for their lives as the gunmen operated for several minutes without encountering any immediate opposition, causing panic in the area.

    A manhunt was initiated in response to the incident by joint teams of police, local vigilantes, hunters, and other security personnel. They blocked suspected escape routes and searched the surrounding hills and bushes for the kidnappers.

    The victim is still in captivity, and search and rescue efforts are still underway as of the time this report was filed.

    SAD! Inspector confirmed dead as bandits ambush police officers in Katsina

    Bandits reportedly ambushed police officers in Kankara Local Government Area in Katsina killing one police inspector, Zagazola Makama, a counter-terrorism expert has said.

    Makama said the officer was killed when the bandits ambushed the police team on their Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) patrol vehicle.

    According to Makama, the bandits launched the attack on the police team on Thursday, June 12, 2025.

    The incident, Makama said occurred at about 12.30 pm near the Government Science Secondary School along the Kankara–Kafi Road.

    The bandits ambushed the police officers during a farm clearance operation by the police and opened fire on them.

    As a result of the exchange, Inspector Yahaya Bello was fatally wounded and later confirmed dead at the General Hospital Kankara by a medical doctor,” he said.

    In addition, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sani Suleiman, sustained gunshot injuries during the gun battle with the bandits.

    Suleiman, attached to the 27 PMF Katsina is said to be receiving medical treatment.

    Rep Nnamchi raises alarm over repeated banditry attacks in Eha-Amufu in Isiuzo LGA of Enugu

    The Lawmaker representing Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency in House of Representatives, Hon. Professor Paul Sunday Nnamchi has raised an alarm over another devastating herdsmen attack in Aguamede, Eha-Amufu, days after similar incident in Mgbuji also in Eha-Amufu.

    In a statement he issued in Abuja, he lamented that just five days after the June 9th incident that claimed the lives of five constituents in Mgbuji village, a repeat occurrence was recorded on Monday, June 16th, 2025 at Aguamede with about eight dead bodies so far recovered.

    “The news reaching me from the community is that several other villagers are still missing. The hoodlums l understand attacked the community at an early ours of the Monday morning killing and destroying properties worth millions of Naira.

    “I want to use this medium to re-echo my earlier appeal for the redeployment of military personnel to Eha-Amufu and other troubled spots in Enugu East/Isi Uzo Federal Constituency to curtail the dastardly act and save my people from these marauders.”

    Professor Nnamchi also called for relief materials to be extended to the victims who according to him were said to have taken refuge in neighboring villages by the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) to provide succor for them.

    He further urged the Inspector-General of Police and the Chief of Army Staff to rise up to the occasion by immediately deploying officers to the Eha -Amufu and ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous act were arrested and made to face the consequences of their actions.

    Kebbi in turbulence as armed bandits abduct 127, kill six

    No fewer than 127 persons have been abducted and six others killed following a bandit attack on Danmuntari and Ali villages in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

    Zagazola Makama revealed that the attack, which occurred on May 27 at about 9 a.m., was reportedly carried out by gunmen suspected to be armed bandits who stormed the villages near the border with Zamfara State.

    The sources confirmed the identities of those killed as: Malam Mudaha, Al’ameen Mohammed, Safwan Abubakar, Tanko Mohammed, Ibrahim Garba, Inno Mudaha (female).

    The victims’ corpses were recovered and later released to their families for burial after undergoing autopsy at the General Hospital, Wasagu.

    Police sources said that due to the nature of the terrain, response was delayed but a combined troops comprising the Army, Police Tactical Unit, and local vigilantes has now been deployed for rescue operations.

    Army Troops halt another bandit attack in Karim Lamido, Taraba

    The Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have halted a bandit attack in Jen village, Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

    Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the troops, responded to a distress call at about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, prompting a swift deployment to the area.

    On sighting the advancing troops, the suspected bandits fled the scene. The soldiers pursued and successfully crossed a nearby river to clear the bandits’ suspected avenue of approach on the opposite side.

    The general security situation in the area is calm and stable as troops have intensified dominance within the general area.

    Operatives of the Amotekun Corps in Ondo State have rescued and reunited a three-year-old boy, Ifeanyi Emmanuel Chukwu, with his family.

    He was abducted in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State and was found in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
    The child’s uncle, Mr Chidiebere Okwuosa, recounted how Ifeanyi went missing last Thursday while his parents were away.

    According to him, while his father was at work, his mother elsewhere attending a burial ceremony.
    “When we returned, we couldn’t find him. We searched the entire village with the help of a town crier and reported the case to the police, but there was no trace of Ifeanyi,” he said.

    Hope was rekindled when the family saw an online report about Amotekun rescuing two children, one of whom was said to be from Anambra.
    “We sent someone from Ondo to verify and, behold, it was our boy. He was all the way here in Ondo State,” Mr Okwuosa added, his voice filled with emotion.

    He commended the professionalism and transparency of the Amotekun Corps.
    “Since we arrived yesterday, no one has asked us for a bribe. If it were elsewhere, they’d be demanding money. We are truly grateful to the Ondo State Governor and the Amotekun commander.”
    Commander of the Ondo Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the rescue, revealing that the boy was nearly sold off by a syndicate operating between Anambra and Ondo States.
    “It was initially difficult to trace the boy’s parents, but through diligent investigation, we were able to confirm his identity.
    He will be handed over to his father once documentation is complete.”
    Akogun Adeleye urged parents to remain vigilant, stressing the importance of closely monitoring their children and promptly reporting any suspicious activities to the Amotekun distress line.
    The family, though overjoyed, disclosed that Ifeanyi’s mother remains unwell due to the trauma of the incident.

    JUST IN: Troops capture notorious bandit alive, neutralized 96

    Troops of the Nigerian military, have finally seized Usman Maisaje, a dreaded bandit kingpin, said to be one of the lieutenants of Kachalla Boka, a bandit leader said to be terrorising the North West part of the country, reportedly killed recently.

    Maisaje, was reportedly captured alive alongside other 226 suspects by troops, who also neutralised 96 terrorists as the Nigerian Army continues to ramp up their activities with major inroads into the enemy territory to eliminate the insurgents troubling the country.

    Edward Buba, Defence spokesman, who made the disclosure, said in a statement on Friday: “Maisaje, a close associate of high-profile terrorist Kachalla Boka, is providing invaluable intelligence, aiding troops in further operations.”

    Buba, a Major General and Director of Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters (DHQ), who said the Nigerian troops eliminated 96 terrorists in total during the operations, also gave details of successes in other areas of operations.

    He said the DHQ also reported significant gains in the battle against oil theft, revealing the arrest of 45 suspected oil thieves, while 60 illegal refining sites were destroyed and over 712,535 litres of stolen crude oil and 76,800 litres of illegally refined AGO, valued at approximately N712 million, recovered.

    “During this period, we rescued 157 kidnap victims and confiscated 71 weapons, including 50 AK-47 rifles and various types of ammunition,” he said, adding that the troops also dismantled 60 illegal refining sites and seized an array of items, including boats, drums, and vehicles.

    “The operations underscore the Nigerian military’s ongoing commitment to combating terrorism and oil theft and ensuring the safety and security of the nation. With these latest developments, the DHQ remains optimistic about the continued success of its operations against criminal activities across the country,” the statement, said.
