  • If you want Nigeria to be better, go get your PVC- Banky W

President Muhammadu Buhari has been under fire over the statement he made to the effect that Nigerian youth are lazy. This elicited a myriad of negative reactions from young Nigerians all over the world.

Nigerian RnB singer ,Banky W has reacted to the statement, stressing that young Nigerians must go beyond ranting on Twitter to actually getting their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVC), registerting and then voting out the incompetent leaders.

He wrote on Instagram:” Many young Nigerians have been tweeting non-stop with #LazyNigerianYouth and #LazyNigerianYouths to convey their displeasure at President Muhammadu Buhari’s remark.

“I have a suggestion. Whether you agree, or disagree with the President’s comments, this time, do a little bit more than posting, commenting, retweeting, and complaining. Go and register to vote.

“I’ve sat in countless meetings, seminars, conferences and hangouts with young people. We are always great at pointing out our issues.. but the truth is that we can sit around and complain from now until Kingdom come. It will not matter. INEC will not count your tweets. Let’s turn the month of May into #PVCMay.

“Even if you don’t know who you’re voting for.. even if you hate every single candidate. At least register.. so that if someone comes along who you feel compelled to support, you can.

“If you’re really serious about wanting Nigeria to be a better place, go and register to vote. Get your PVC asap. The registration period will end LONG before the elections come, so if you think you can wait until next year, you are wrong.

“Get your PVC today. Or don’t bother complaining about anything, because it won’t matter. Your tweets will not count. Your vote will.”

However, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, described as false the comment accredited to his boss.

“There is no way President Buhari, father of the Nigerian nation in every sense of the word, who equally has biological children of his own in the youth age bracket, will pass a vote of no confidence in all youths,” he said.

  • Banky W vowed to make me famous- Masterkraft

The name Sunday Ginikachukwu Nweke may not ring a bell, but when you mention Masterkraft, you immediately know who is being mentioned.

Masterkraft is a sought after music producers known for producing hit songs for artistes such as Flavour, Banky W, Timaya, Lynxxx, MI and a host of others.

The Ajegunle born music maker who has been ranked as one of the sought after producers in Nigeria revealed how Banky W made him famous.

Speaking in a chat with Punch, he said:”The turning point in my life came after I produced a song and they wanted to feature a rapper on it. They called MI and after he listened to it, he asked for the producer. He did not even believe that the song was produced in Nigeria. He later asked after me and when we met, he asked once more if I produced the song or copied it.

At that point, I had to open my computer and show him my files. Instantly, he called Banky W who called me immediately but I did not have his number, so I did not pick the call because they were recording and I did not want to disrupt the session.

“A text message later came in stating that it was Banky W. It was an exciting moment for me and I remember that I ran out of the studio to the gate like four times just to get myself together and I called the number back. To my surprise, it was Banky W and he was asking for the address of my studio with the promise of showing up the next day.

“True to his word, he came the next day, we sat down and he gave me an idea of the kind of song he wanted to release. In less than 30 minutes, I had produced the song. Banky was so much in awe that he told me that he had been in the state for years and had never had that type of result or sound. He said that for what I had done, he would make sure my name was everywhere and I got the first and second slot on his album. That was how I made it to his album. The next thing was that I saw myself in the newspapers and it was Banky W that made it happen. That was a major turning point in my life. Shortly after I worked for his record label, EME, and I was the vocal coach for Wizkid and Skales at the time,” he said.

“This switch in focus has been amazing and fulfilling. Behind the scenes, we have been able to impact the launching and marketing of a number of brands and companies the way we did artists but even in the talent management side, we are no longer restricted to working with just music artistes. We still work with musicians, but we also work with OAPs, actors and are evaluating sports management as well.

“The goal was always to find talents and brands we believe in, and partner with them to help them become more successful. Now we have expanded to do that for more than just the music business. We are excited about our client portfolio: the corporate brands we rep, as well as the talents.”
