Barca propose Coutinho swap deal with Arsenal for Aubameyang or Lacazette

Philippe Coutinho was left out of Barcelona’s opening day win over Real Sociedad.

The news comes after the Brazilian was linked with a move to Arsenal.

Spanish outlet Sport says Barca have proposed a swap deal with the Gunners involving Coutinho.

The La Liga giants want Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in exchange for the former Liverpool man.

They would also accept Alexandre Lacazette as a second option.

There would be no money involved in the transfer as Barca continue to struggle with their finances.

Aubameyang would also have to take a pay-cut from 14million euros to 10million euros per season.

Super agent Kia Joorabachian, who represents Coutinho and has close ties to Arsenal, is reportedly pulling the strings behind the proposed deal.

Meanwhile, the swap deal will reportedly have no impact on Arsenal’s pursuit of Real Madrid playmaker Martin Odegaard.

Aguero wants to kill himself at Barca – Di Maria

Angel di Maria says Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero is reeling after seeing Lionel Messi leave for PSG.

The last week has seen Messi’s departure at Barcelona become official before he joined Di Maria at PSG, which leaves Aguero without one of his closest friends and clearly questioning his move to Barcelona.

“Kun wants to kill himself, what can you do,” Di Maria said with a laugh during an interview with TyC Sports.

“Apart from all that [Messi leaving Barcelona], the worst thing is that he got injured again and will be out for several weeks.

    “That’s the saddest thing.”

La Liga president admits Messi Barca exit ‘traumatic’

La Liga president Javier Tebas says Lionel Messi’s departure from Barcelona was “traumatic”.

Tebas admits Messi’s exit for PSG was a blow to the competition.

He was talking at a press conference regarding the “historic and exceptional” LaLiga Impulso deal which was passed on Thursday, financed by the international investment fund CVC, which was voted against by Real Madrid, Barcelona and Athletic Club de Bilbao.

“Barcelona were due to receive 275 million euros as part of this deal, but there are very intelligent people running the club, making the decisions, and this intelligence is evident from the latest decisions that they have made,” he said ironically.

“Of course we want to have the best players playing in LaLiga. Neymar has left, Cristiano has left and now Messi has left. His departure has been slightly traumatic, because everything was seemingly on track for a month but then it all fell through in a single afternoon. It hurts that Messi has left, but we’ve worked hard to maintain the value of our rights.

“Barcelona haven’t lost Messi due to this. I put it down to other reasons. The club has a lot of debt and made huge losses last season.”

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner, wept on Sunday as he bade farewell to his boyhood team, after the club said it could no longer afford to keep him, due to La Liga’s fair play rules.

The PSG frontline is already formidable, with Messi’s former Barca team mate Neymar and young France striker, Kylian Mbappe seen as two of the best players on the planet.

But the arrival of Messi, Barca’s all-time record goal scorer with 682 in 27 years, will boost the club’s ambitions to win a first ever Champions League.

Saleh slams Lionel Messi over ‘crocodile tears’

Former Egypt and Libya coach Mohsen Saleh has slammed Lionel Messi for his ‘crocodile tears’ at his final Barcelona press conference on Sunday.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner was in floods of tears while addressing the media where he confirmed that a move to Paris Saint-Germain is a possibility.

The Argentina international became a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Blaugrana in June. However, the Camp Nou giants were unable to tie him down to a new deal due to “financial and structural obstacles”.

But Saleh stated that the 34-year-old could have continued by forfeiting part of his wages to help the Spanish elite division side who are in a financial mess.

“Crocodile tears are when a hypocrite cries despite not feeling any kind of sadness. He in fact feels the opposite way,” the 72-year-old wrote on Twitter.

“Messi, why are you crying when you could have stayed by sacrificing a part of your salary due to the club’s current financial state?

“You’re greedy, and you’re not the only one, you claim you left because of the rules while others claim they left for ambition.”

He is yet to be officially registered amid financial struggles in Catalunya, has seen fellow countryman Lionel Messi depart Camp Nou in emotional circumstances and must now wait on a competitive debut for his new club after picking up an untimely knock.

We must move on from difficult Messi exit – Koeman

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman admits they cannot dwell on Lionel Messi’s departure.

Messi and Barcelona have parted company after over 20 years together, but Koeman has made it clear that there’s no time to dwell on the loss of their captain, and talisman.

“It’s normal that when a player like Messi leaves, it’s hard for everyone, but we have to move on because we can’t change the situation,” Koeman said after their Joan Gamper Trophy defeat of Juventus.

“We have to play well, win and work even harder. There are other players who can play in his position and play an important role in the team.

“We don’t have Leo now, though. We have to move on and look forward.”

The Dutchman did give Barcelona fans reason to be optimistic heading into next season.

“We’ve signed Memphis Depay, who has shown today that he can be really effective,” Koeman explained.

“The midfielders need to score more and the squad needs to improve. The best player in the world will always be missed, but you have to accept it and get to work.

“It’s no use dwelling on the past. There’s a lot of promise in this team.”

Koeman was happy with the performance of his Barcelona side ahead of the start of the new campaign.

“It’s a really good result. Football wise, we reached a really good level,” Koeman said.

“Neto was very good and we’ve taken another step forward. The boys who were at the Olympics still have to return, so when we have everyone back, it’ll be better.

“We’re on the right track to competing well in the first match.”

BREAKING: Complaint filed aiming to block Messi’s PSG move

Lionel Messi’s future might not be as clear as it seems to be. A complaint has been filed with the European Commission in an attempt to prevent Paris Saint-Germain from signing the Barcelona captain.

The complaint, which MARCA have gained access to, is based on financial facts, and claims that Financial Fair Play should rule PSG out of the running for Messi’s signature.

“PSG’s ratio with regards to Financial Fair Play is worse than Barcelona’s,” the statement sent to the Court of Appeals by Dr. Juan Branco on behalf of Barcelona’s members.

“In 2019/20, 99 percent of PSG’s income was used for salaries, whereas it was 54 percent for Barcelona.”

Those behind the complaint, which has been sent and is now pending, hope to block Messi’s move to PSG, claiming that competition has been distorted by the French club’s spending.

It states that Joan Laporta’s reason for not being able to renew Messi’s contract was that, even with the player taking a 50 salary reduction, Barcelona’s salary would have been 110 percent of the cap imposed by the European body and by LaLiga.

Tearful Messi confirms departure from Barca, says not ready for it

Lionel Messi was in tears on Sunday as he confirmed his departure from Spanish side FC Barcelona after 21 years with the club.

Messi was set to sign a new deal with Barca, but is now heading for pastures new —- possibly Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

This was after the Catalan giants could not afford to fulfil the contract they had agreed.

The 34-year-old took to the stage for a news conference on Sunday, in front of the media, his family, Barca teammates and club officials.

He was emotional before he even made an opening statement, as he revealed he had never imagined a moment when he would have to leave Camp Nou.

“These recent days I’ve been giving lots of thought to what I could say, and the truth is that I can’t think of anything,” said Messi, who subsequently let the tears flow as he received a standing ovation.

“This is really difficult for me after so many years, being here my entire life.

“I’m not ready for this and honestly last year, with all the nonsense with the burofax, I was convinced I knew what I wanted to say. But this year is not the same.

“My family and I were convinced I wanted to stay here, that’s what we all wanted more than anything. We thought we’d be staying here in Barcelona, (but) today I have to say goodbye to all of this.

“We’ve always made this our home, we’re at home and we thought we’d be staying here in Barcelona.

“The time we’ve had here in the city and the sport has been amazing, but today I have to say goodbye to all of this.”
