Barca star reveals Tuchel as favourite coach

Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele has declared Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel the best coach he’s worked with.

The pair were together at Borussia Dortmund.

Dembele told BeinSport: “Thomas Tuchel really convinced me. He’s my favorite trainer too. With Thomas Tuchel I played a little more on the right side at the start of the season, and then he refocused me in the axis at the No10 and sometimes even in the middle of three.

“He was telling me to stay a little in the middle of the field, to take the espresso, and the ball will come and there you go. Would I have stayed in Dortmund if Thomas Tuchel had not left? It would have been hard to leave Dortmund, Thomas Tuchel would have held me back.”

Messi goes out to assassinate the goalkeepers – Caballero

Barcelona captain Lionel Messi “goes out to assassinate the goalkeepers” when he takes to the pitch, says Willy Caballero, who admits that his fellow Argentine is forever on a “mission” to find the target.

Chelsea keeper Caballero has lined up against and alongside Messi down the years and is well placed to pass judgement on what makes the mercurial 33-year-old so special.

Caballero, who has formed part of Argentina national squads and turned out in La Liga over the course of his career, told 90min: “Facing Messi, I had to suffer.

“He goes out to assassinate the goalkeepers.

“The goalkeepers, the defenders – he’s going to kill [them]. And killing means scoring as many goals as possible.

“He doesn’t care if you know him, if you’re Argentine or if you’re a friend. He’ll talk to you afterwards, greet you and everything else, but in those 90 minutes he’s on a mission to hit you with goals.”

The 20-year-old has snubbed several new contracts at the Etihad ahead of a return to Barca – where he spent nine years in their La Masia academy.

Garcia said, “It would be very special to play alongside Messi because he’s the best footballer in the world.

I still follow Barca, speak to Messi everyday – Suarez

Atletico Madrid ace Luis Suarez admits he still follows the results of former club Barcelona closely.

Barca, after their 6-1 win at Real Sociedad, are now four points behind LaLiga leaders Atletico.

On the Barca win, Suarez said on a Twitch stream: “Yes, a great game, it was spectacular. When a team is in positive dynamics and has the best in the world, it shows. When you see that the rival suffers everywhere on the pitch, you realise that they were going to win. When you admire football, you see that game, how they have fun…

“Yes (I follow Barca), because I like to watch football and I have friends there. I have admiration for the team I defended and I will be grateful. I talk to Messi almost daily, but we talk about many things and sometimes about matches, but also about personal things.”

“What suits me best is being on the pitch. This is what I want the most. That’s what I want, but yes, with three central defenders, we are safer, the midfielder works a lot,” he said.

“The coach has found the key. It is then a question of adapting to the system that the team needs.

    “Work and more work.”

“Playing with Messi is easy because when you give it to him you know that things are going to happen. And that’s what I try to do, give it to him in the best conditions so that it is the most beneficial for the team.

“I hope I can be close to him for several years. It would be great if I could enjoy Messi and learn many things at his side.”

“Sorry Leo… I will do my best and he knows it!

PSG midfielder Leandro Paredes admits management have banned him from talking about Barcelona star Leo Messi.

Paredes has been pushed regularly by media about his Argentina teammate and whether he’ll be joined by him in Paris.

The PSG ace told JDD: “They asked me not to talk about him anymore.

“Some people have perceived the statements I made in the past as a lack of respect towards Messi.

“It was not my intention: Lionel will decide with tranquility what he wants to do in the future at the end of this season.”

Messi sets another La Liga record in Huesca win

Lionel Messi set yet another La Liga record on Monday as the Barcelona star continued his assault on Spanish football’s goalscoring record books.

Messi scored Barcelona’s first goal and last goal in Monday’s 4-1 triumph over Huesca, a match that also marked yet another record for the Argentine.

With his appearance, Messi made his 767th appearance for the Catalans, equalling his legendary team-mate Xavi for the most appearances in a Barcelona shirt.

With his first goal on Monday, Messi notched his 20th finish of the 2020-21 La Liga campaign.

And, in the process, he reached that 20-goal total for the 13th consecutive season, becoming the only player to do so in the competition’s history.

Messi wasn’t done there, though, as the Argentine added one more for good measure in the 90th minute, sealing a lopsided win for Barca.

Messi has scored 660 total goals for Barcelona, putting him 428 clear of second-placed Cesar Rodriguez in the club’s goalscoring record book.

Additionally, Messi has a grand total of 34 trophies to his name during his time starring for the Catalan club.
