Vinicius Jr and his agents betrayed Barca – Agent Cury

Agent Andre Cury has recalled Vinicius Junior rejecting Barcelona for Real Madrid in 2019.

Cury, then Barca chief scout, insists Vinicius Junior was joining the Blaugrana when leaving Flamengo before Real stepped in.

He told Cadena SER: “Everything was arranged and Madrid found out that he was in Barcelona and they invited him to go to Madrid, but Madrid didn’t even know him. Vinicius went to Madrid because they chose his agents.

“We had been working on the transfer for three years and his agents betrayed us. Vinicius told me that he was culé. He cried with Barça’s 6-1 against PSG.

“The Vinicius thing is a matter of betrayal. Rodrygo was tied up, but he decided not to enter. We were talking with Vinicius, but when he betrayed us we went for Rodrygo. For me Rodrygo is more complete than Vinicius.

“We went to Santos to negotiate for him, we did not close the agreement and Madrid arrived with much more financial strength. His father told me that if he arranged it between Santos and Barcelona, Rodrygo would go to FC Barcelona for less money.”
