My time at Bayern Munich is over – Lewandowski

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has declared his intention to leave the German champions.

TheNewsGuru reports that the Polish international has a year on his Bayern deal.

“My time at Bayern is over, I don’t see any chance of continuing at this club,” Lewandowski said.

“The transfer is probably the best solution for both parties.

“Bayern is a serious club but I hope they don’t keep me just because with the contract in hand they can do it.”

He added: “I prefer not to say anything more for now. After playing my last game with the national team there will be time to say more and maybe I’ll have more information.”

Transfer: Chelsea captain agrees terms with La Liga side

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has agreed terms with La Liga side Barcelona, it has been revealed.

AS says personal terms have been struck between the defender and Barca.

Azpilicueta has committed to the Catalans for two years plus an option for another season. The 32-year-old will pocket €13m from the deal.

The veteran defender has a deal to 2023, which is likely to see Barca having to cough up a fee to bring him back to Spain.

Azpilicueta, 32, will be returning to Spain, having come through the system at Osasuna.

La Liga: Xavi reacts to Gavi playing with untied boots

Barcelona manager Xavi has expressed his satisfaction with Gavi playing with his boots untied.

Gavi again impressed in victory over Mallorca on Sunday – with his laces untied.

Xavi said: “He says that’s how he’s comfortable, that it’s good for him, that we don’t need to worry.

“Maybe if they were tied up he wouldn’t play as well! It is surprising how mature he is for a 17-year-old. He has a lot of things to improve, but he has a tremendous soul and it’s brutal how he competes.

“I hope he renews his contract. Let’s see if it is sorted soon. After Araujo’s, I hope he is next. I have already said it is fundamental.”

  • Aubameyang deals blow to FC Barcelona’s La Liga top-four rivals

Aubameyang deals blow to FC Barcelona’s La Liga top-four rivals

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was on target again as FC Barcelona scored an important 1-0 victory over top-four rivals Real Sociedad in Spanish La Liga on Thursday.

A close-range header in the first half was Aubameyang’s 11th goal in his past 14 games for Barca —— as many as he scored in his 34 prior outings in all competitions.

It proved to be enough to end La Real’s seven-game unbeaten league run at Reale Arena, with Alexander Isak and Alexander Sorloth wasting the opportunities that came their way.

Barca moved up to second while La Real were left six points adrift of fourth-placed Atletico Madrid with five games to play.

Defeat put a doubt on their credentials for achieving UEFA Champions League qualification.

La Real conceded their first goal at home in eight league matches in the 11th minute.

Gavi kept the ball alive after Ousmane Dembele hit the post and picked out Ferran Torres, who lifted a cross for Aubameyang to nod home.

Frenkie de Jong, Torres and Aubameyang all narrowly missed the target before Isak miscued when presented with a glorious chance to equalise on the stroke of half-time.

Barca were again let off the hook within two minutes of the restart when Sorloth blazed over from inside the six-yard box after a wonderful delivery from Adnan Januzaj.

There was a brief interruption due to objects being thrown in the direction of Gerard Pique from the stands.

The centre-back was the subject of their ire after controversial audio clips of him negotiating a deal to move the Supercopa de Espana to Saudi Arabia were released.

Pique played on after appearing to request a substitution in the first half but Barca lost Ronald Araujo to a knee injury in the 55th minute.

Sorloth and Januzaj were kept at bay by Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Gavi missed a chance to put the game to bed.

But Xavi’s team were able to hold on for an important three points.

Transfer: Bayern Munich set price for Robert Lewandowski

Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich are prepared to sell Polish striker Robert Lewandowski this summer.

Lewandowski is ready to move to Barcelona, with agent Pini Zahavi having agreed contract terms with the Catalans.

Kicker says Bayern are now willing to sell and have set a price of €40m.

Bayern have decided to put him up for sale, after deciding against handing Lewy a new deal.

The centre-forward’s current contract runs to 2023.

Barca chief speaks on reaching agreement with Lewandowski

Barcelona chief Mateu Alemany has played down reports of an agreement with Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.

Bayern Munich have reiterated their stance that Lewandowski will not be sold in the summer transfer window, despite the fact the former Borussia Dortmund star has thus far refused to agree on a contract extension.

“We don’t have any agreement with the forward, that is speculation from the press that is very good for filling pages,” Alemany explained in an interview before kick-off against Eintracht Frankfurt.

    “It isn’t true.

“If we wanted him, the first thing we would do would be to talk to his club.”

  • Barca players shocked by Chelsea approach to Real Madrid defeat

Barca players shocked by Chelsea approach to Real Madrid defeat

Barcelona’s players were shocked by the way Chelsea collapsed in their Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.

The Barca squad caught the game in full with a giant screen being set up at their Frankfurt hotel.

Xavi’s men faced their own European clash, drawing 1-1 with Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final. While they were ‘concentrated’ on that game, the Barca players did not want to miss the Madrid match, says AS.

But as the game progressed, the players felt ‘strange and contradictory’ having expected the game to be very even right up until the last kick. Instead, they ‘could not believe’ how Chelsea were playing, especially with Edouard Mendy’s mistake for the third goal.

Blues manager Thomas Tuchel was not the only one left angry by his side’s performance, with the Barca squad said to have been ‘incredulous’ at what they were watching. Chelsea’s collapse apparently left them ‘very surprised’, with some even claiming that the Blues had become ‘resigned’ to Madrid winning.

  • I don’t speak with Messi, no plans to re-sign him – Laporta

I don’t speak with Messi, no plans to re-sign him – Laporta

Barcelona president Joan Laporta admits he no longer speaks with Lionel Messi after his controversial move to PSG.

Laporta was excited at the idea of Messi being present for the inauguration of the new Camp Nou, even though it’s a long way away, because it would be “beautiful.”

However, he recognised that “there’s no personal contact, I remember him with affection and I hope he feels the same. It was not easy for me, I would have liked things to go differently, but as they happened, I thought of the institution first and I think we did what we had to do.”

In that sense, he doesn’t see any chance of Messi coming back as a player: “We’re not considering it. We’re building a new team with young players, but he deserves respect.”

Laporta added: “I don’t speak with him, I don’t have fluid communication with him like before he left. We hear comments from people close to him… Barcelona pulls you a lot and when you leave you miss the city, Barça, he had a great life here. I felt worse for the personal and family side of things than the other, but also that.”

Argentina coach confirms Sergio Aguero going to World Cup

Former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will be with the Argentina squad at this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

TheNewsGuru reports that Aguero was forced into retirement while with Barcelona due to heart problems earlier this season.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni announced: “The news about Sergio is obviously very well received here.

“I’ve talked to him and to the president of the Argentine Football Federation.

“It is very important that his role is clearly defined. We do not want him to come just to do anything.”

  • What I’ll say to Real Madrid coach who rejected me – Pedri

What I’ll say to Real Madrid coach who rejected me – Pedri

Barcelona star Pedri has again recalled being rejected by La Liga gaint Real Madrid.

While with Las Palmas, Pedri had the chance to sign for Real before Barca came knocking.

He said: “I went there and from the first days I couldn’t train because there was snow everywhere on the pitches. I trained for three days. I was put with the B team to train, but in the end, they told me that I didn’t have the level to stay and that they were going to continue to observe me.

“I am where I wanted to be. At first, you don’t like it when you get turned away, but then it serves as motivation to tell you that if they didn’t want you, then you have to work to make something happen. I can’t remember who turned me down, but if I met him today I would tell him I’m having a blast at Barcelona. Football is like that.”
