Havertz regrets choosing boring Chelsea over Bayern

Chelsea star Kai Havertz is regretting his move from Bayer Leverkusen to Stamford Bridge this season.

That’s according to BILD columnist Raimund Hinko.

Havertz, just like other major signings like Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, has yet to shine at Stamford Bridge and that has led to some intense speculation in Germany.

Hinko believes Havertz may be regretting turning down Bayern Munich for Chelsea last summer.

Hinko wrote: “Kai Havertz, even if he doesn’t trumpet it out loud, will have cursed it a hundred times that he switched from [Bayer] Leverkusen to the midfield of boring club FC Chelsea and followed the call of the money.

“Havertz will have bitten his ass often enough not to reciprocate Bayern’s interest more violently as long as coach Hansi Flick was still interested in him.”

Bayern Munich suffer 4-1 loss to end long unbeaten run

Quadruple winners Bayern Munich slumped to a shock 4-1 loss at Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Sunday to end their 32-match unbeaten run in all competitions stretching back to last year.

Bayern Munich, winners of the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla after extra time on Thursday, had not lost since Dec. 7, 2019.

They had gone 21 consecutive Bundesliga matches without defeat, winning their last 15.

The European champions conceded two goals in eight minutes as their usually solid defence collapsed under Hoffenheim pressure.

Ermin Bicackcic put them ahead in the 16th minute and Manus Dabbur doubled the lead.

Joshua Kimmich cut the deficit with a superbly curled shot into the top corner in the 36th minute and Bayern Munich missed several good chances to level early in the second half.

But Andrej Kramaric, who had earlier hit the post, killed off their hopes in the 77th minute.

He controlled a cross with his back to the goal and turned beautifully to beat goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

A stoppage time penalty kick by Croatia forward Kramaric crowned a memorable win for Hoffenheim.

Bayern Munich, the juggernauts of European football have asserted their dominance in Europe beating Spanish side Sevilla to becoming UEFA Super Cup champions.

The German giants didn’t have it easy, however, they prevailed over the Europa Cup winners 2-1 in a fierce contest.

Sevilla got the early lead in the match from a Lucas Ocampos penalty in the 13th minute after Ivan Rakitic was fouled by David Alaba.

Bayern leveled things up before the break courtesy of Leon Goretzka’s calm finish. The German club had two goals ruled out in the second half, one for offside and the other for a foul in the build-up.

The match ended 1-1 in full time until Bayern through a sublime header from Javier Martinez got a second goal to retain their dominance as Europe Champions.

With Bayern Munich’s win today, the German side have won their second Uefa Super Cup Trophy after winning their first against Chelsea in 2013.

Neymar reflects on Champions League defeat to Bayern

Neymar said “losing is part of the sport” as the Paris Saint-Germain star took to his twitter handle on social media to congratulate Bayern Munich on being crowned Champions League winners.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that PSG were unable to cap their first Champions League final appearance with silverware following a 1-0 defeat to Bayern in Lisbon on Sunday.

Neymar was caught emotional and teary at the post-match after PSG failed to add a maiden European crown to their domestic 2019-20 title in France.

Afterwards, Neymar wrote via Twitter: “Losing is part of the sport, we tried everything, and we fought until the end.

“Thanks for the support and affection from everyone. Congratulations Bayern.”

Kingsley Coman’s second-half header saw Bundesliga champions, Bayern emerged triumphant as they claimed their sixth European Cup and Champions League trophy.

It also saw Bayern seal a second treble in eight seasons, with PSG ending their campaign as Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Coupe de la Ligue and Trophee de Champions holders.

Mbappe, a World Cup champion with France, also took to social media following the showpiece event.

“Disappointed not to end this year with the best of awards, but life is made that way.

“We fought with all our might. Congratulations to Bayern. And a big thank you for your support,” Mbappe wrote on Twitter.

Neymar and Kylian Mbappe shed bitter tears after the final whistle in Lisbon when Bayern edged Paris Saint Germain 1-0 to win the Champions League.

Neymar even briefly touched the trophy after receiving his silver medal.

Photographs also showed David Alaba of Bayern consoling the tearful Brazilian after the match.

As Neymar said on Twitter later: “Losing is part of the sport, we try everything, we fight until the end. Thank you for the support and affection of each one of you and CONGRATULATIONS to BAYERN”.

Neymar after getting the silver medal touches the elusive trophy

The trophy was hoisted by Bayern Munich captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer who had produced world-class saves against Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Marquinhos to help Bayern Munich to the 1-0 win.

And the ultimate irony of the Sunday night in Lisbon was that Munich’s winner came from Paris-born Kingsley Coman, who was a graduate of PSG Academy.

Ever since PSG came under Qatari ownership in 2011 Europe’s biggest prize in football was the club’s biggest aim, with more than $A1.3 billion dollars spent on players including Neymar and Mbappe.

They never came as close as on Sunday because it was their first final in their 50 years as a club, the reward for a new-found team spirit under coach Thomas Tuchel in which the star forwards worked as hard as their teammates.

“I am very proud. It is always the worst feeling to lose a final like that,” Tuchel said after his team failed to win the trophy for France 27 years after Olympique Marseille’s success.

“Over the last two years we have built a special atmosphere. We must keep this spirit and mentality. We need to build another strong side to continue this run. That will be the challenge to rediscover this spirit.”

Bayern beat Chelsea to reach Champions League quarter-finals

Bayern Munich demolished Chelsea 4-1 on Saturday to qualify for Champions League quarter-finals on 7-1 aggregate.

The first leg had end 3-0 in England in favour of the German side before Coronavirus escalated.

Robert Lewandowski opened scoring for the homers on 10th minute through penalty, putting the ball into the right side of the goal past the outstretched arm of Wilfredo Caballero.

On 24th minute, Bayern made it 2-0 through Ivan Perisic, who was put through by Lewandowski and he showed brilliant composure inside the box to fire into the bottom right corner.

Chelsea seemed to have reduced the tally to 2-1 through a fantastic finish by Callum Hudson-Odoi from just outside the box, as he wasted little time in getting away a bullet of a shot that flew past the goalkeeper into the right side of the net, but VAR disallowed the goal.

The visitor, however, reduced the tally through Tammy Abraham on 45th minute, as he tapped home from almost on the goal line after a lucky rebound fell at his feet.

Bayern was not done yet as they got their third goal through Corentin Tolisso on 79th minute, as he scored with a brilliant shot into the middle of the goal after being released inside the box by a superb lofted pass from Lewandowski.

The incredible Lewandowski compounded Chelsea’s woes, as he made it 4-1 for the homers on 87th minute.

lvaro Odriozola sent a superb cross into the box. Lewandowski latched on to it and from close range planted a header inside the right post, leaving Wilfredo Caballero beaten.

  • Lewandowski scores twice to hand Bayern first win in five games

Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski scored once in each half and set up a third goal to steer the German champions to a 3-1 victory over VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday.
It was the first win in five games in all competitions for the title-holders who were playing with 10 men..
The Poland striker opened his account on the half hour and doubled it four minutes after the restart to give embattled Bayern a much-needed boost.
This has come a day after club bosses launched a scathing attack on the media while backing coach Niko Kovac and his players in spite of their dip in form.
We had a lot of pressure,” Kovac told reporters. “We wanted everyone to focus over 90 minutes and give it all for the club. The team did this unusually well and the final score is fully deserved.
Overall it was a solid performance, even when we were down to 10 men. Even when they pulled a goal back we did not falter.”
The game looked to be turning for the hosts in the 57th minute when Bayern winger Arjen Robben was sent off after a second booking.
It was the Dutchman’s first dismissal in more than seven years.
The Wolves then cut the deficit through Wout Weghorst six minutes later and launched an all-out offensive in search of the equaliser.
But James Rodriguez stunned the home crowd with a curling shot, following a Lewandowski pass.
The win will no doubt ease some of the pressure on Kovac, in his first season at Bayern.
The team can earn more bonus points with fans if they beat AEK Athens in Greece in the UEFA Champions League next week.
Bayern’s president Uli Hoeness and CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on Friday accused the media of unfair and “shameful” reporting of their team’s current form.
They are now in third place on 16 points, four behind leaders Borussia Dortmund, and one behind second-placed Werder Bremen, who beat Schalke 04 2-0.

  • Bundesliga: Lewandowski helps Bayern end winless run

Robert Lewandowski scored twice as Bayern Munich ended their four-game winless run with victory at Wolfsburg – although they had Arjen Robben sent off.

Lewandowski put Bayern ahead and then doubled their lead early in the second half after taking advantage of some terrible defending.
Robben was dismissed for two bookings, and Wout Weghorst then pulled one back.
But Lewandowski set up James Rodriguez to seal the victory.
On Friday, Bayern accused the media of “disrespect” and of breaking the German constitution with recent criticism in an extraordinary news conference.

  • Bayern coach speaks on Real loss

Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes has said his team lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final due to a mistake from goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.

Heynckes said “We are very disappointed” for not reaching the final of the competition.

Real advanced 4-3 on aggregate after winning the first leg 2-1.

According to him, “My team played an outstanding game. I haven’t seen Bayern play as well as that for years.

“At this high level you can’t make the sort of mistakes we made after half-time.”

Ulreich gifted Karim Benzema his second goal of the match one minute after the break at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, completely misjudging a back-pass from Corentin Tolisso to allow the French striker to slot the ball into an empty net.

James Rodriguez levelled things for Bayern in the 63rd minute, setting up a desperate last half-hour in which the Germans pinned Real back but despite a handful of chances failed to score the goal that would have given them an away-goals victory on aggregate.

Real will now play the winner of the clash between Liverpool and Roma in the final on May 26th at Kviv.
