  • NDLEA refutes BBNaija’s Khloe assault claim

NDLEA refutes BBNaija’s Khloe assault claim

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has stated that its officer identified as L.S. Shonibare did not assault Big Brother Naija star Abiri Khloe.

TheNewsGuru recalls that the reality TV star had taken to Instagram to accuse the officer of assault at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos, saying her nails were broken in the process.

Khloe called on NDLEA to investigate the incident and called on officials to stop “harassing citizens because of their uniforms”.

In a new development, NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi in a press statement on Sunday said the claims were false.

Mr Babafemi said that the agency’s preliminary findings showed that none of its officers assaulted the Air Peace airline passenger at the departure gate of the airport in the early hours of December 5.

He said: “At about 12:20am on Sunday Dec. 5, during an outward clearance of passengers going to South Africa by Air peace, a female passenger, Ms. Abiri Khloe was asked to submit her luggage for a search, which is a regular procedure.

“In the course of searching her luggage, which contains about 8 handbags, Khloe who obviously came late for the flight as shown on CCTV footage became agitated and hurled a number of unprintable insults at the female officer searching her luggage.

“This attitude is naturally a red flag that would raise suspicion and equally taken as an attempt to distract the officer.”

Babafemi said that Khloe went further to point fingers in the face of the officer and at the same time pulled out a phone to record the officer in the course of doing her work.

“At that point, the officer seized the phone from her to stop the distraction but that didn’t stop the passenger who brought out another phone to record their encounter,” he said.

The NDLEA spokesperson said that the agency would take further steps to investigate any other evidence made available in the course of the ongoing process and revert back to the public.

I once lived under the bridge- Whitemoney

The BBNaija 2021 winner revealed this in an interview with BBC Igbo where he recalled his early struggles.

“I auditioned for billboards. I got tired. I tried for BBNaija from the time of Efe until I got in. Someone tried to make me smuggle drugs. I wooed ladies; they rejected me for being poor. I worked as a driver, sold shoes,” he said.

“I was born with a silver spoon. That got taken from me at a tender age, leaving my brother and I on the streets to hustle. My brother wouldn’t allow me to do the hard jobs. He did bricklaying in Benin; we were paid with bread.

“What we were practically doing was begging. My father left us. We went to Kaduna and my brother found his calling in computers. I had a thing for singing. Years later, we found our dad and lived with him for a few months.

“We left to live with our mom and started cooking. My brother went to computer school. In SS3, I had no money to pay for my O Level exams. My uncle helped. Thereafter, my life changed. We entered the streets fully.

“While my mum cooked, I learned. We were serving double portions to attract customers. That was our only income source. When she was sick, our cooking paid her medical bills.”

Whitemoney touched on how he monetised his songwriting, relocated to Lagos where he lived under a bridge.

“A friend of mine came to serve in that village. I told her I could barb hair and that I also wrote songs. I wrote a full album and she took it to Lagos. She was to shoot a video for one of the songs and had me come to Lagos,” he added.

“I decided to stay back in Lagos. I sought work in a barbing saloon but got none. I was under pressure to move out from where I was squatting. My shop in Kaduna got burned so there was nothing to go back to.

“I started living under the bridge. We would defecate and dispose of it in plastic bags. We bathed in the public. But I didn’t lose focus. I met a lot of people, including those who did things to me. I went through a lot.

“In 2015, someone help me with money and a vehicle but that was short-lived. I started from scratch, struggling. I sold jewelry, hawked fries on the streets, sold cream, barbed hair. I got rejected everywhere I sought work.”

As the 2021 winner, the grand prize of N90 million was handed out to White Money.

The sum of N30 million was made available in cash while N60 million was to cover travel and other gifts.

  • Married people shouldn’t participate in BBNaija -Whitemoney

Married people shouldn’t participate in BBNaija -Whitemoney

White Money, winner of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) season six, has called for prohibition of married people from participating in the reality show.

In an interview with Media Room Hub, the singer said the prohibition will prevent scandals such as the one that trailed Boma and Tega, his BBNaija colleagues.

White Money also revealed that another reason he wants married people banned from participating in the show is that “not everyone can resist beautiful ladies for two months.”

“Biggie should do just one thing for me which is to scrap out married people from the show for the sake of the platform like this year people said Big Brother taught them a lot of things,” he said.

“I have a lot of elderly people who watched Big Brother Naija this year and it happened that they said it was because of me they watched it, they saw housemates who are co-existing without being toxic.

“Scrap out married people because not every person is disciplined to resist beautiful ladies, sexy women for more than two months.

“Till today Boma and Tega are still being dragged, it might die down today but it can never be erased, If he or she tries to contest for anything, this issue will resurface, the disadvantage is bigger than the advantage, that was one of the reasons I avoided most things in the house.”

Speaking further, White Money, whose real name is Hazel Oyeye Onou, also said BBNaija should be known as a platform that promotes integrity and frowns at infidelity.

“I think that is right because you don’t want to be the platform that is known for breaking homes, you want to be a platform that upholds the integrity and if you watch the history of Big Brother Naija from mercy’s time, you see it is always from street to fame, so you will want to maintain that pace, you don’t want to have a scandal, for me if they ask me, I would say they should scrap out married people,” he said.

White Money won the Shine Ya Eye edition of the show and went home with the grand prize of N90 million.

His stint on the show was characterised by his face-off with Pere, cooking strategy, and relationship with Queen.
