    Tottenham fullback Sergio Reguilon has likened teammate Harry Kane to Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

    Reguilon left Real Madrid last summer for Spurs.

    He told Soccer AM: “Harry, I’ve never seen anything like it. Karim is similar to him, but Harry has scored more goals than Karim, he is an incredible, incredible player.

    “They are very similar because they are strikers and play for the team, but how many assists does Harry have for (Heung-min) Son, eight I think?

    “I do not know, but Harry also plays for the team.”

    Karim Benzema’s two headers sent Real Madrid into the Champions League knockout stages with victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, who also qualify for the last 16.

    Inter Milan and Shakhtar Donetsk drew 0-0. Both sides needed a win to qualify but they go out with the San Siro draw.

    Real started the day in third place and in major danger of their first ever group-stage elimination.

    Benzema’s goals from Lucas Vazquez and Rodrygo crosses put Real in control.

    They never looked back against an underwhelming Gladbach, who only had one shot on target.

    Real should have won by more with Luka Modric having a goal disallowed and Benzema and Vazquez hitting the woodwork.

    Real have reached the knockout rounds in all 25 of their Champions League campaigns and every season since 1996-97, when they did not qualify for Europe.

    Zinedine Zidane’s side have won four of the past seven Champions League titles.

    Their participation in this season’s last 16 looked in doubt after a 2-0 defeat at Shakhtar last week. But they completely outplayed Gladbach as they moved up from third to top spot.

    Friends close to Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema have denied he was critical of Vinicius Junior during their 2-2 draw at Champions League opponents Borussia Monchengladbach.

    It’s been claimed in France that Benzema was caught in footage slamming Vinicius when speaking with Ferland Mendy at halftime.

    But a source told AS: “Karim has behaved very well with Vinicius these two years, helping him to grow as a player and as a person within the club.

    “It is not normal for you to now fall for a recording whose sounds are mixed and confused.

    “And that phrase to (Ferland) Mendy so that he does not pass the ball to him is not Karim’s… “

    Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has been caught telling team-mate Ferland Mendy not to pass to Vinicius Jr during the club’s latest Champions League outing.

    Madrid’s poor start to their latest European campaign continued as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany on Tuesday night.

    Los Blancos were visibly rattled as they went in at half-time 1-0 down, and Benzema was seen criticising someone – reportedly attacking partner Vinicus Jr – while talking to Mendy in the tunnel.

    In footage now doing the rounds on social media, the Frenchman can be heard telling his Madrid colleague: “Brother don’t play to him. On my mother’s life. He is playing against us.”
