    15 more abducted students of Bethel Baptist High School regain freedom

    Fifteen more abducted students of Bethel Baptist High School, Maraban Damishi, Kaduna State, have regained their freedom, after 48 days in captivity.

    Rev. John Hayab, the state Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), said this when he spoke with newsmen in Kaduna on Sunday.

    “Fifteen more students were released on Saturday night and 65 students are still with the bandits, ” he said.

    The bandits in the early hours of July 5, invaded the school and kidnapped an unspecified number of students.

    ASP Mohammed Jalige, spokesperson for the police command in the state also confirmed the release of the students.

    Jalige, however, said that the police was not in the picture of whether ransome was paid by the parents before the students release or not.
    “We are not aware of that,” he said.

    BREAKING: Abducted students of Kaduna Baptist school regain freedom

    Twenty eight (28) students abducted by bandits from Bethel Baptist High School, Damishi in Kaduna State have regained freedom.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the 28 abducted students were released as confirmed by the Kaduna State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN), Joseph Hayab on Sunday.

    Recall that a total number of 121 students were abducted from their hostels at the Bethel Baptist High School by bandits on July 5.

    On July 12, one of the students, Abraham Aniya was rescued by security operatives alongside two other victims who were kidnapped along Kaduna-Kachia road.

    On July 20, two other students escaped when they were tasked to go and fetch firewood from a nearby forest.

    However, after 20 days in captivity, the bandits have released 28 of the students abducted from the school, according to TheCable.

    Police rescue two abducted Bethel Baptist School Students

    Two of the abducted students of Bethel Baptist Secondary school in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been rescued by police operatives.

    According to reports, they were rescued on Wednesday evening by police operatives in Rijanna area along the Kaduna-Abuja highway.

    Confirming the rescue, the spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, Mohammed Jalige said the two abducted students have been taken to a police medical facility where they are currently undergoing medical examination.

    TheNewsGuru.com, TNG reports that 121 students of Bethel Baptist secondary school in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state were abducted from their hotels by bandits on July 8.

    Last week, the police rescued one of the students inside a forest, while two were rescued today, thereby bringing the number of those rescued to three.

    Meanwhile, the bandits are demanding the sum of N60m as a ransom for the release of the kidnapped students.

    Abductors of 121 students of Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna have demanded a cumulative ransom of N60 million to free the remaining 120 abductees.

    The bandits said the ransom must be paid before the end of Monday, July 19, 2021.

    The bandits freed one of the students on medical condition.

    One of the parents told The Nation that the church and parents were already working round the clock to raise the ransom.

    He however expressed hope if the ransom demand is met on Monday the students would be released on Tuesday as promised by the bandits.

    He explained the bandits reduced the ransom to N500, 000 per student, making a total of N60 million.

    According to him: “Some amounts have been gathered but the church is trying to raise additional funds from members of the church and well-wishers to complete the money. We the parents have already been contributing to the pool.”

    Police rescue one kidnapped Baptist school student, two others

    One of the kidnapped students of Bethel Baptist Secondary school in the Chikun local government area of Kaduna state has been rescued.

    The student, Abraham Aniya, was rescued by security operatives along with two other kidnap victims who were abducted by bandits some days ago along the Kaduna-Kachia road.

    The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, Mohammed Jalige confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday.

    He said police operatives alongside men of the Civilian JTF on routine patrol, rescued the three kidnap victims while they were roaming inside the forest extremely exhausted and weak at Tshohon Gaya village in Chikun local government area on Tuesday.

    Jalinge explained that the victims were safely evacuated and rushed to Police Clinic in the state capital, where they are currently being resuscitated, after which they will be handed over to their families.

    During the course of the investigation, the three victims were identified as Zaharaddeen Ibrahim, Nura Nuhu and Abraham Aniya.

    Bandits contact Bethel Baptist School management, say 125 kidnapped students doing fine in their custody

    Bandits who invaded Bethel Baptist School in Kaduna State have established contact with the school management and also assured them that all the students are doing fine in their custody.

    This was revealed by the proprietor of the school, who is also the President of Kaduna Baptist Conference, Reverend Ishaya Jangado. According to Jangado, a total of 125 students were taken away by the bandits who attacked the school on Monday.

    He made the confirmation in a statement on Tuesday after a meeting with parents of the abducted students to discuss ways to rescue the students.

    Jangado said that the total number of students in the school hostel was 154, out of which 28 were recovered, while 125 of them are still in the custody of the bandits.

    Buhari orders military, police to rescue 140 kidnapped Kaduna school students

    President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the military, police and intelligence agencies to ensure safe and early release of all kidnapped school children in Kaduna.

    Bandits had stormed the Bethel Baptist High School in the south of Kaduna State overnight and abducted 140 students.

    The attack is the 10th mass school kidnapping since December in northwest Nigeria, which authorities have attributed to armed bandits seeking ransom payments.

    However, Buhari, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, expressed concern over attacks on Kaduna and Niger States, largely targeted at students.

    Buhari said there is an ongoing deployment of additional security personnel to all troubled areas.

    He urged security outfits to “act swiftly” to rescue all school boys and girls in the affected states and ensure safe return.

    Buhari said the disturbing incidents of kidnapping students, mostly in Northern states, was already threatening to undermine efforts in boosting school enrollments in states that were adjudged educationally backward.

    He called on state governments to ensure compliance with UN-supported Safe Schools Programme, which the administration had adopted.

    The President described kidnapping as cowardly and despicable, condemning it as an assault on affected families.

    Some bandits stormed the school in the wee hours of today kidnapping not fewer than one hundred and twenty six students.

    The aggrieved parents and loved ones have since blocked the Mararaba Rido road, a major entrance to the state Capital from southern Kaduna, Plateau and Nassarawa states.

    BREAKING: 26 students kidnapped from Bethel Baptist High School escape from bandits

    Twenty-six out of yet to be confirmed number of students kidnapped from Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna State have escaped from the hands of their bandits kidnappers.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State Chapter, Rev. John Hayab, who is also a member of the Baptist Church, made this known on Monday.

    Hayab said that as of Friday, there were 180 boarding students in the Bethel Baptist High School.

    He said that so far, 26 students had returned and that he was hopeful that more would escape from the bandits.

    TNG reports suspected bandits on Monday kidnapped an unspecified number of students of Bethel Baptist High School in Damishi town of Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna State.

    The bandits invaded the school at about 2 a.m.

    The Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in Kaduna, ASP Mohammed Jalije, who confirmed the incident, said 17 of the students had earlier been rescued.

    He said that the exact number of students abducted by the bandits had yet to be ascertained, adding that details would be made public in due course.
