Oduah, others hit Obiano’s wife for attacking Bianca Ojukwu

Nigerians are reacting to the attack on Her Excellency, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, widow of the founder of APGA, Emeka Ojukwu by the immediate past first lady of Anambra state Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano during the inauguration ceremony of Governor Charles Soludo as the sixth Governor of Anambra State.

Reacting to the development, the Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Senator Stella Ada Oduah condemned the development in strong terms saying, the conduct of Mrs Obiano was indecorous and unbecoming of a woman.

Oduah in her verified Facebook page on Thursday said she condemned in very strong terms, the unwarranted attack against the wife of an illustrious son of Anambra State, Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu.

“I wish to add that the act exhibited by the former first lady was indecorous and unbecoming of a woman who had acted as a mother of the state and even desirous of serving in other capacities.

“More condemnable is even the gutter and vulgar language used by Mrs Obiano to describe her fellow woman, who is even a widow.

“I have always held the view that it is only weak minds that label hardworking women like Bianca with nasty names such as “ashawo” and it is more unfortunate when a woman, especially one that has been around the corridors of power, is the one hurling such baseless and regretful invectives against a fellow woman.

“What the world witnessed on Thursday at the swearing-in ceremony is utterly disgraceful, unfortunate, crude and should never be emulated by the millions of our young girls and women who often look up to public figures with respect to how they conduct themselves”, she added.

She recalled in the statement that a few days ago, an innocent woman was publicly paraded naked in the same community the immediate past first lady hails from, “and one would have thought that rather than showcase this brute nature of fighting and engaging in public fisticuffs with her guest, she should have exerted same energy and fighting spirit in ensuring that Justice is done for that widow.

“It saddens me a great deal to see the wife of an illustrious Anambra son, the pride of Ndigbo and an achiever that was once an ambassador of the Federal Republic, being attacked unprovoked and I join all right-thinking persons on this.

“It saddens me a great deal to see the wife of an illustrious Anambra son, the pride of Ndigbo and an achiever that was once an ambassador of the Federal Republic, being attacked unprovoked and I join all right-thinking persons in praying that we never ever record this type of travesty again in our history as a state”.

Also, many Nigerians on Facebook reacted to the development saying, she is known for such behaviour. Read some of the comments below:

Kemi Law wrote’’ My ex- neighbour’s mum once worked closely with that riff-raff and I heard several horror stories about her. Very unbecoming of a First Lady aka Thug’’

‘’Astonishingly beautiful” or not, whoever is right we should not be browbeating into accepting the lowest standards. With a myriad of existential issues at hand, this is where we find ourselves? People of my age still recall how well people like Mrs Flora Azikiwe comported. I suppose it is a nice distraction for people hunting for fuel’’, Adekanmi Ademiluyi wrote.

‘’Willie Obiano’s grand exit from office has been ruined by his controversial wife, Ebele. She had the effrontery to attack one of Nigeria’s long-standing sweethearts, Ex-beauty Queen, wife of the Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, daughter of Chief C.C. Onoh, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu. Bianca retaliated with a slap…. Mrs Obiano’s behaviour is the worst display of rascality from a First Lady even with Nigeria’s inglorious history of abuse of public office by wives of high ranking public officials. What now happens to her senatorial ambition?!’’

Wife of former Governor Willie Obiano, Ebelechukwu and the widow of Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, Bianca Ojukwu engaged in a physical fight when Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo was inaugurated as Governor of Anambra State on Thursday.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Prof Soludo was sworn in as the 6th democratically elected Governor of Anambra along with his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim by Hon. Justice Onochie Manasseh Anyachebelu, Chief Judge of the State.

However, the events of the inauguration of Soludo was marred as Ebelechukwu and Bianca engaged in the fight after the former stepped in and moved to the front row where the widow of Ojukwu was seated.

According to an eyewitness, Obiano’s wife was greeting dignitaries already seated when she got to where Ojukwu’s wife was seated. However, Ebelechukwu engaged Bianca in a quarrel, accusing her to have said she will never attend a function of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

“Bianca, so you are here, what are you doing here, I thought you said you will never attend any APGA event again,” Obiano’s wife was quoted to have said to Bianca.

Ojukwu’s wife who was seemingly provoked by the remark stood up quickly and slapped Ebelechukwu, dragging her wig off her head. In a video in circulation, Ebelechukwu could be seen trying to dress herself up after the fight.

BREAKING: Ex Gov Obiano’s wife, Ebelechukwu slapped by Bianca Ojukwu at Soludo’s inauguration

Drama ensued on Thursday at the inauguration of Prof Chukwuma Soludo as the Governor of Anambra State when the wife of the outgoing Gov. Willie Obiano, Ebelechukwu was slapped by Mrs Bianca Ojukwu at the event.

The incident occurred immediately after Soludo took his oath of office. Dignitaries including former Governor Obiano were already seated when Mrs Obiano stepped in and moved to the front row where the widow of Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu was seated.

According to an eyewitness, Obiano’s wife was greeting dignitaries already seated when she got to where Ojukwu’s wife was seated. However, Ebelechukwu engaged Bianca in a quarrel, accusing her to have said she will never attend a function of the ruling party.

The action drew the attention of security agents and some personalities who pulled Mrs Obiano off the hold of Bianca.

Mrs Obiano was later taken away and shortly afterwards, her husband left the venue since the incident happened after the new governor had been sworn in.

Why I shunned APGA guber campaign flag-off at Awka – Bianca Ojukwu

Mrs Bianca Ojukwu said in Awka on Sunday that she shunned Saturday’s flag-off of APGA governorship campaign to protest “post-mortem disrespect’’ to her deceased husband.

She laid the blame of the “post-mortem disrespect’’ to Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu on the doorstep of APGA’s leadership.

Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and Dr Ifeanyi Ibezim, APGA’s governorship and deputy governorship candidates, respectively, kick-started their 2021 campaign at on Saturday.

Bianca was conspicuously absent at the event unlike previous mega political activities held by APGA, a party that branded late Ojukwu as the spiritual leader of the party.

Another obvious sign which made some political observers note that there was serious crack in the party was the removal of Ojukwu’s image on the customised uniform of APGA worn by people at the event.

Some party faithful, however, wore the old uniform bearing the image of the Eze Igbo Gburugburu, Dim Ojukwu, to the event.

Bianca described as an affront, the treatments to her late husband by the present leadership of APGA.

“It is an irony that today Gov. Willie Obiano has resuscitated Dim Ojukwu’s pictures for use in campaigning for the upcoming elections in Anambra.

“This is the height of opportunism and hypocrisy. Is Ojukwu not the same man Obiano once described as a dead man who was no longer relevant to the party?

“Why should I permit him to keep trampling on the legacy of my late husband who put his heart and soul into this party?

“Ojukwu should not be like a light switch to be turned on for party campaign, and turned off once the election is won,’’ she said.

The former Nigerian ambassador to Spain, expressed displeasure at the decision of APGA’s leadership to expunge her husband’s image from APGA uniform and other insignia of the party.

“It is most unfortunate that Gov. Obiano decided to remove the picture of Ojukwu and replace same with his picture just to drive home his statement that `he would no longer tie the fate and fortunes of APGA to the memory of a dead man’, obviously in reference to my husband,’’ Bianca said.

She listed other ill-treatments meted to her and the deceased husband and maintained that her presence at Saturday’s flag-off would have been an endorsement to the defrauding of scores of aspirants by the party during the party’s primary in the year 2018.

“It is unfortunate that the same APGA election managers that were responsible for the disastrous 2018 party primaries which resulted in severe damage to the party’s brand were also left to handle APGA’s campaign flag-off.

“Any political party that consistently robs its own members will not endure, APGA inclusive,’’ she noted.

She also lamented that the report of the Sen. Victor Umeh-led Peace and Reconciliation Committee that visited her in Enugu few weeks ago which pointed the way forward for APGA, had been discarded by the governor and the party leadership.

Bianca, however, indicated that she remained hopeful that in spite of APGA’s current travails that the party has a fair chance of producing the next governor of the state.

She described the party as presently constituted as a field of ‘sorrow’ for so many walking wounded…from aggrieved aspirants, party members at the grassroots, as well as party stakeholders.

Reacting to Bianca’s charges, Mr C-Don Adinuba, Director Media, Soludo Governorship Campaign Organisation, said that the omission of Ojukwu’s image on APGA uniform was not a ploy to insult late Ojukwu and his family.

“It was a mistake by the person who handled the recent uniform the party printed,’’ he said.

Adinuba who is also Anambra Commissioner for Information said he was confident that Bianca had nothing against Prof. Soludo as APGA’s candidate.

“I am sure that in the next couple of days Bianca will join the campaign tour of Prof. Soludo,’’ he said.

Anambra guber election: APGA reconciles with Bianca Ojukwu

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Peace, Reconciliation and Outreach Committee on Saturday in Enugu held a closed door meeting with Mrs Bianca Ojukwu.

Mrs Ojukwu is the wife of late national leader of the party, Chief Chukwuemeka Ojukwu and former Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain.

The delegation which included the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Victor Okafor was led by a former chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting that lasted for over four hours, Umeh said that the essence of the visit was for the party to reconcile with the wife and their late leader.

He said that it had become necessary to bring members of the party in Anambra together as one family in order to successfully confront the various tasks ahead.

“For sometime now, APGA has been operating with a missing rib. Bianca has contributed to the wellbeing of APGA starting from the time her late husband was the leader of the party,” he said.

The former national chairman of the party said that it was necessary to bring every member on board and to forget the past, especially, with the forthcoming Nov. 6 gubernatorial election in Anambra.

According to Umeh, the party being a political organisation is bound to have its challenges.

“However, the important thing is that the ideals for which this party was established must be protected no matter the interest anybody is pursuing in this party.

“This visit is a turning point in the journey of this party to the gubernatorial election. We are satisfied that as a mother in this party, she has listened to our prayers and pleas.

“She should avail herself fully towards the pursuit of victory for APGA in order to deepen the hold of the party in the state and to ensure that the legacy left for us will remain intact,” he said.

The former senator said that APGA was the hope of the people of the area in any political dispensation.

“We are invoking the spirit of Chief Chukwuemeka Ojukwu as well as his fatherly guidance and blessings as we embark on this journey,” he said.

Umeh said that the party would emerge stronger from its current challenges.

In her remarks, Ojukwu said that it was sad that the party found itself in such dilemma which could have been averted.

The former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain regretted that previous efforts made to assuage aggrieved members of the party hit the rock.

“There have been to date at least two other committees that have been set up by the governor to advance the grievances of very great number of APGA members who are dissatisfied with the party.

“The first and second reconciliation committees made recommendations but they never saw the light of day,” she said.

She, however, pledged to put behind the incidences of the past and contribute to the progress of the party.

“I am very much looking forward to putting behind the dark history of the party and the bad experiences that so many of its members have had and still experiencing.

“We are all looking forward to moving towards a future uncontaminated with the bad memories of the past.

“We believe that on November 6, we should have a new governor in Anambra under APGA and we will put behind this very sad chapter of our party’s history,” Ojukwu said.

The former ambassador lost the APGA Anambra South Senatorial ticket in 2019 in a controversial circumstance which led to division in the party.
