BBNaija All Stars: Biggie changes wager rule

Big Brother has changed the rule for wagers in the ongoing Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 8, codenamed BBNaija All Stars.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports BBNaija Season 8 premiered on Sunday with 20 housemates from previous editions of the show.

In previous editions of the show, wagers are staked by the housemates as a group. However, Big Brother has changed it into an individual task.

According to a note from Biggie, read to the house by Venita, the wager is said to be staked individually in the diary room on the call of Biggie.

Winning the week’s wager is said to be converted into an allowance for the weekend while losing it means the total loss of the stake.

The BBNaija All Stars wager rule reads in part:

“Similar to the previous season, you will be expected to stake on the wager challenge. However, this season, you will be placing your stake in your individual capacity rather than a single stake as a whole house.

“This means, one after another, Big Brother will invite each of you into the diary room to stake an amount from your weekly allowance on the wager.

“If the house wins the wager, the total amount staked will be provided for shopping on the weekend; if the house loses the wager, the money is gone”.

BBNaija All Stars: No disqualified housemates in Big Brother’s house

Season 8 of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), aka BBNaija All Stars did not feature any housemate disqualified from previous editions of the reality TV show.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports BBNaija All Stars premiered on Sunday as show host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu ushered in 20 housemates to the house.

Among the 20 housemates are former winners, Mercy Eke of Pepper Dem season and White Money of Shine Ya Eye season.

Visibly absent from the BBNaija season 8 edition were housemates, such as Natacha Akide, aka Tacha, who were disqualified from previous editions of the show.

TNG recalls Tacha was disqualified from the season 4 edition of the show tagged, Pepper Dem. Her offence was having an altercation with another housemate, Mercy Eke, which led to physical assault.

However, it was Ekemini Ekerete, aka Kemen, who made history as the first ever housemate to be disqualified from the BBNaija show.

Kemen was disqualified from the 2017 edition of BBNaija, after he touched a fellow housemate, T-Boss, inappropriately when she was asleep.

Although, Kemen has repeatedly denied the allegation levelled against him. However, the allegation undoubtedly left a dent on his career and public image.

TNG reports Kemen currently works as a fitness enthusiast and personal trainer.

On her part, Beauty Tukura, a former Miss Nigeria (2019), was disqualified from season 7 of the show tagged, Level Up.

She was disqualified after she fought with Groovy because he danced with Chomzy.  She and Groovy were an item in the house.

The week before, she had been aggressive towards Ilebaye, as she pulled her wig.

Beauty, however, apologised after she was disqualified, blaming everything on the influence of alcohol.

Meanwhile, Erica Nlewedim, who participated in the 2020 Lockdown edition, was disqualified after she received two strikes and a last warning from Big Brother.

Erica’s disqualification followed her attack on Laycon. She was also accused of preventing the then Deputy Head of House, Prince, from entering the Head of House’s lounge.

Also, she poured water on a bed in the lounge and made attempts to speak with the camera crew.

For Oluwabusayomi Abiri aka Khloe and Kelvin Brouillette aka K-Brule, they were disqualified from the show in the 2018 edition tagged, Double Wahala.

Khloe and K-Brule were disqualified after they received their third strikes for inappropriate behaviour.

K-Brule got his first warning after he jumped from the first floor of the BBNaija house. While some people believed he was drunk, others said it was because he wasn’t comfortable with fellow housemates, Anto and Lolu, kissing each other.

He was handed a second strike when he wanted to attack another housemate, Dee One, during an argument. However, he was held back by other housemates, Lolu and Angel.

On the other hand, Khloe described K-Brule’s mother as a whore during an argument, which caused both of them to get strikes.

Khloe was prevented from being physically harmed by K-Brule by other housemates after he had threatened to hit her. After receiving their third strikes, both of them were disqualified from the show.

TNG reports none of the disqualified housemates made their way into the BBNaija All Stars house.
