Ex-U.S. President discharged from hospital after falling sick

Former U.S. president Bill Clinton has been released from hospital after falling sick and admitted at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital for testing and observation.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, Angel Ureña confirmed he has been discharged and that he was treated for the flu.

“President Clinton was discharged earlier today after being treated for the flu,” Ureña said, adding:

“He and his family are deeply grateful for the exceptional care provided by the team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and are touched by the kind messages and well wishes he received. He sends his warmest wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season to all”.

Clinton, 78, was treated at the Georgetown University Medical Center, Ureña posted.

U.S. broadcaster MSNBC, citing people from Clinton’s circle, said the situation is not acute and that the former president is expected to improve soon.

Clinton, a Democrat, served as the 42nd President of the United States from 1993 to 2001.

His presidency was overshadowed by the Lewinsky sex scandal and the subsequent impeachment proceedings, which he survived politically.

His wife Hillary Clinton, who served as a senator and secretary of state, ran for the presidency in 2016 but lost to Republican Donald Trump.

Former US President, Bill Clinton hospitalised

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton has been hospitalised in California, CNN reported Thursday night.

The report said he was admitted on Tuesday for a non-COVID related health issue.

Sanjay Gupta, CNN chief medical correspondent said the 75 year-old Clinton is being treated for a blood infection and he is in good spirits.

He was in California for an event connected with the Clinton Foundation.

He said the former president may be out of hospital on Friday.

In February 2010, Clinton was also admitted to enable him have a clogged heart artery opened after complaining of pains in his chest.

He had quadruple bypass surgery more than 16 years ago, with two stents resembling tiny mesh scaffolds placed inside the artery as part of a medical procedure that is common for people with severe heart disease.

  • National Peace Accord: Bill Clinton cancels visit to Nigeria, gives reasons

Former United States of America’s (USA) President Bill Clinton will not be in Abuja on Wednesday for the second National Peace Accord signing ahead of the general elections.

Clinton, according to the Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar led Peace Accord committee was expected to deliver a keynote address at the event slated for the International Conference Centre (ICC) Abuja.

Clinton, the committee said, was expected to hold meetings with President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar aimed at nipping threats of unrest in the bud.

But a statement by Clinton’s spokesman Angel Ureña regretted the former President’s visit might be politicised in a way that is not in line with the goals of the committee.

The statement said: “President Clinton appreciates General Abdulsalami Abubakar and the Nigerian National Peace Committee’s invitation to travel to Nigeria.

He is incredibly supportive and respectful of the committee’s efforts, of the election process, and of the work being done to try to ensure a peaceful, free, fair, and transparent outcome.

This is a crucial time in Nigeria, and President Clinton is hopeful that the election’s outcome reflects the will of the Nigerian people.

Over the course of the last several days, and after various conversations with the different stakeholders, it’s become apparent that President Clinton’s visit to Nigeria has the potential to be politicized in a way that is not in line with the goals of the committee. Therefore, he will not be traveling to Abuja.

He looks forward to talking to both candidates and General Abubarkar this week.

  • Trump fumes over Osama Bin Laden, slams Clinton

US President Donald Trump on Monday slammed former President Clinton in furtherance of his criticism of the hunt for Osama bin Laden, tweeting that “President Clinton famously missed his shot”.

TheNewsGuru (TNG) reports President Trump had in a TV interview derided retired Adm. William McRaven for being a “Hillary Clinton fan” and for not catching bin Laden more quickly.

McRaven, an outspoken critic of Trump, oversaw the U.S. military operation that extracted and killed bin Laden while also uncovering a treasure trove of Al Qaeda documents.

The operation ended a nearly decade-long manhunt for the Al Qaeda leader responsible for ordering the 9/11 attacks.

Trump claimed he knew about bin Laden, who had been known to U.S. intelligence long before 9/11 – he was found in connection to the 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, having ordered the attack in retaliation for U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia, before 9/11.

“Of course we should have captured Osama Bin Laden long before we did. I pointed him out in my book just BEFORE the attack on the World Trade Center.

“President Clinton famously missed his shot. We paid Pakistan Billions of Dollars & they never told us he was living there. Fools!

“We no longer pay Pakistan the $Billions because they would take our money and do nothing for us, Bin Laden being a prime example, Afghanistan being another.

“They were just one of many countries that take from the United States without giving anything in return. That’s ENDING!” Trump tweeted.

  • My affair with Bill Clinton started after he saw my underwear –Monica Lewinsky

Outspoken White House intern, Monica Lewinsky, has revealed what triggered her affair with former US president, Bill Clinton.

In a forthcoming docuseries, titled, “The Clinton Affair,” where Lewinsky shared new information about her time in the White House, she said it was her uncovered underwear that got the president’s attention back in 1995.

She noted that, during a birthday party for a White House staffer, where Clinton was present, Lewinsky said she noticed that her underwear was accidentally showing from behind but she decided to leave it.

“Instead of pulling my trousers up, like I would in any other instance, I didn’t,” she recalled. “It was unnoticeable to everybody else in the room, but [Clinton] noticed.”

“As I passed George Stephanopoulos’ office, I kind of looked into the open doorway, and Bill happened to be standing there,” she went on. “And he motioned me in — I don’t think my heart had ever beat that fast. Unbeknownst to me, I was on the precipice of the rabbit hole.”
