  • Speaker Dogara shows excitements as David Mark marks 70th birthday

    Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has extolled the virtues of former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark on the occasion of his 70th birthday anniversary.

    The Speaker described Senator Mark as an elder statesman and patriot saying, “you are a man of many caps; former military administrator and two time president of the Senate.”

    “Distinguished is an attribute you have earned for yourself from the excellent way you discharged your responsibilities in all roles you found yourself.”

    He noted that Senator Mark is a man of many caps who have left masterstrokes in the way he superintended over matters of state, “putting national interests above personal ones when the need arose; from your days in the military to making the proverbial ‘lightening strike twice’ as the president of the Senate.”

    The Speaker prayed God to continue to bless the former Senate President with sound health and more wisdom to contribute his quota to the growth and development of Nigeria.

    Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), Osanebi Friday Ossai, at the weekend, gifted his wife, Ogechi Osanebi Ossai, a custom-made Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) to mark her birthday anniversary.

    TheNewsGuru gathers that the SUV, a custom-made 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, is valued at about N50 million. The cheapest variant of the SUV is valued at over N20 million.

    “I had no idea he was putting together a surprise to make me feel special on my birthday,” wife of the Deputy Speaker said while flaunting the flamboyant birthday gift on her Instagram profile on Saturday.

    Penning a special tribute to Ogechi, Osanebi described his wife as a source of inspiration.

    “I want to take this time out to celebrate and appreciate you as you turn a year older today. You have been a rare gift to me over these years. You are a great source of inspiration to me. You have given me strength when my will failed me.

    “Many times I thought of giving up but the knowledge and consciousness of you in my life keeps me strong.

    “No doubt, you have turned and will always remain one indispensable part of me. Thank you for being that strong woman in my life. Words alone cannot tell how much you mean to me.

    “As you celebrate your Birthday today, it is my prayers that God rewards you with every good thing you have ever sort after in life and may you live to reap the fruits of your labour and kindness.

    “May he grant you a great health and a sound mind. May your cup never run dry,” the Osanebi tribute read.

  • Abe congratulates Senator Nunieh on his 88th birthday

    The senator representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, has congratulated Second Republic Senator, Senator (Dr.) Gbene Cyrus Nunieh on his 88th birthday.

    Abe, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt by his spokesperson, Parry Saroh Benson, described Nunieh, who is the President of Bori State Movement as a living legend.

    The senator further described the former Chairman of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Port Harcourt Branch as an erudite legal practitioner.

    He urged Nunieh to continue to contribute his wealth of experience in the area of political and social development of Rivers State and Nigeria in general.

    “Distinguished Senator, as you mark your birthday, I join your family, the good people of Rivers State, friends and all well-meaning Nigerians to thank God for your life and pray that He will continually bless you with many more years of robust health and life fulfillment”.

     

  • Google marks Stephen Keshi’s 56th birthday with Doodle

    Google on Tuesday marked the 56th birthday of the late Nigerian football icon, Stephen Keshi, with Doodle.

    Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google’s homepages that commemorates holidays, events, achievements and people.

    Mr Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google’s Communications and Public Affairs Manager, Anglophone West Africa, made the asertion during a chat with Google in Lagos.

    According to Kola-Ogunlade, Keshi was born in Azare, Bauchi State, Nigeria, and was a member of the famed St. Finbarrs College Football Academy of 1977.

    He said that he was later called up for the Junior Eagles and subsequently the Super Eagles in preparation for the 1980 African Cup of Nations competition.

    “Football took Keshi all over the world as he played across Africa, Europe, and the U.S.

    “Known affectionately as `Big Boss’, he was beloved as a player for Nigeria’s national team, where he earned more than 60 caps and for representing the country at the FIFA World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations,’’ he said.

    Kola-Ogunlade said that after his great success as a player, Keshi moved into coaching, the next phase of his career, adding that when the “Big Boss’’ became the coach of the Togo national team, he brought his trademark passion with him.

    The Google manager said that against the odds, Keshi led Togo all the way to a qualifying spot in the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

    “He achieved his personal dream in 2011, when he became an indigenous national coach of the Super Eagles, cementing his place in African and world football history.

    “Coaching the Nigerian team, Keshi won the African Cup of Nations in 2013, and in 2014 became the first African coach of an African nation to make it to the knockout round of a World Cup.

    “Keshi is one of the only two men to win the Africa Cup of Nations as both a player and a manager, a testament to his wit, talent, and love for the sport.

    “A big cheer for this football legend on what would have been his 56th birthday!’’ he said.

    The Bishop of God’s Grace Ministry, Saint Dikeji Miyerijesu, also known as the Bishop of the Whole World and Jesus Holiness, has received a 2018 Lexus Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) as birthday gift.

    TheNewsGuru reports Saint Miyerijesus received a Lexus LX 570 2018 model valued at about N100 million as a gift to mark his 70th birthday anniversary.

    A source disclosed to TheNewsGuru that the Lexus LX 570 2018 model gift was presented to the Bishop by his children in the Lord.

    The source said the anniversary marks the Bishop’s 70th birthday on earth and 56th in Heaven.

    A special service was conducted to mark the double birthday celebrations at the Ministry’s headquarters based in Delta state.

  • Osun Assembly congratulates Bisi Akande on 79th birthday

    The Osun State House of Assembly under the leadership of the Speaker, RT. Honourable Najeem Salam has congratulated a former Governor of the State, Chief Adebisi Akande on his 79th birthday.

    The House described Akande as a foremost nationalist who has been able to attain several political offices like; Secretary to the State Government, Deputy Governor both in the old Oyo State and also being the Executive Governor of Osun through which he gave the state a solid foundation.

    According to a statement issued by the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye on Tuesday the House expressed its delight to join other friends, family and associates of Akande to celebrate him.

    Adding that Baba Omo Keekeke as he is fondly called is not doubt a politician with impact and indeed a man of many parts who has occupied strategic positions like being the National Chairman of Alliance for Democracy (AD), Action Congress (AC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) as well as being the first and only National Caretaker Committee Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC).

    While wishing him a long life and prosperity the House also wished Chief Akande a good health, noting that he has positively touch lives and add values to Osun and Nigeria at large.

  • Buhari felicitates with Rasaq Okoya on 78th birthday

    President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday congratulated the Chairman of the Eleganza Group of companies, Chief Rasaq Okoya, on his 78th birthday.

    In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President felicitated with all business associates, family and friends of the businessman.

    He noted that Okoya, through vision, hard work and entrepreneurship completely altered the business landscape of Nigeria, and West Africa, by starting a cottage industry in the early 70s that blossomed into a multi-billion naira empire, with a strong household name.

    The statement read in part, “The President commends the Aare of Lagos for his generosity in providing for the less privileged, especially scholarships for people to further their education, and funds to jumpstart small businesses, which he personally provides mentorship.

    President Buhari believes the Chairman of the Eleganza Group of companies, and his likes in the country, have set the right standards for weaning the country off dependence on one commodity, and assuaging the growing thirst for start-ups by exploring the benefits of personal savings, investments and building global business conglomerates.
