    Member-elect of the Delta State House of Assembly, Chief James Augoye has joined Deltans to celebrate the Archbishop of Promise Kingdom Ministry, Most Revd Godday Iboyi on the occasion of his 47th birthday.

    Chief Augoye, who is the immediate past Commissioner for Works in Delta, in a congratulatory message on Friday, described Archbishop Iboyi as a worthy servant of God, whom he said has touched the lives of many.

    Augoye, popularly known as Agadagba Okpe, expressed gratitude to God for His grace and faithfulness in the life of Iboyi. The Delta State lawmaker-elect described the Overflow Chapel Archbishop as a special breed, and a gift from God to his generation.

    “I join the people of Okpe, all Deltans and indeed other Nigerians in celebrating the Archbishop of Promise Kingdom Ministry, Most Revd Godday Iboyi as he clocks 47 today.

    “He can best be described as a special gift of God to his generation. I thank God for His grace and faithfulness in his life.

    “On this occasion of Archbishop’s 47th birthday, I wish him long life and good health so that he can continue his selfless service to humanity.

    Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has congratulated President-elect Bola Tinubu on his 71st birthday, describing it as a unique one.

    Despite lingering questions about his health and past corruption allegations, the two-time Lagos governor will succeed Buhari, a former army general he brags of helping put into power.

    His ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) faces accusations of electoral fraud in polls, that took place on February 25, from its two main opponents, Labour Party (LP) and Peoples democratic Party (PDP). However, the electoral officials and the APC dismissed those claims.

    Often referred to by the chieftain’s title of “Jagaban”, Tinubu has spent years building his Lagos power base into a nationwide network of contacts.

    The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on the occasion of his 71st birthday slated for Wednesday, March 29, saying “Nigeria is blessed to have Tinubu as her next president”.

    Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, showered praises on Tinubu, describing him as an “enigmatic master strategist whose democratic credentials are scholarly materials for study in political economy.”

    A newly re-elected Sanwo-Olu added that Tinubu’s emergence as president-elect is a reward for his hard work and contributions to the country.

    Instead of the yearly colloquium to mark his birthday, President-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu has directed that special prayers and thanksgiving service be held on March 29 to mark his 71st birthday.

    Tinubu made the twist in his birthday celebration known in a statement by his media spokesperson, Mr Tunde Rahman, on Monday in Lagos State.

    The president-elect said the date, which fell within the holy month of Ramadan, should be dedicated to prayers and seeking God’s guidance for him and the country as he prepare to take the reins of leadership.

    He said special prayers would be held in Lagos and in other parts of the country.

    According to him, the main event will  be held in Lagos with special prayers offered at the Central Mosque in each of the five divisions in the state,  including the Central Mosque, Alausa, Ikeja.

    “During the prayer sessions, special prayers will be offered for peace, unity and progress of Nigeria.

    “Also to receive prayers among others are President Muhammadu Buhari and First Lady Aisha Buhari, President-elect Tinubu and his wife, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, Vice President-elect Sen. Kashim Shettima and Hajia Nana Shettima.

    “Others are Gov. Babajide Sanwo-olu, other state governors as well as members of National and State Houses of Assembly,” Rahman said.

    He said that the prayer sessions at Alausa Central Mosque would begin at 10 00 a.m. and would include delivery of sermons and reading from the Holy Quran.

    “This year will be the third in recent times the birthday colloquium will not hold in deference to developments in the country.

    “In 2020, the 12th edition of the colloquium marking Asiwaju’s 68th birthday was put off to empathise with those who lost their lives or affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

    “In 2022, the birthday symposium was also called off by Tinubu right at the venue of the event when news emerged of the terror attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train in which several persons died and many others abducted.

    “The Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos venue was already filled to capacity with dignitaries to celebrate the birthday when he took to the podium to announce the cancellation of the event.

    “The former governor of Lagos had said it would not be proper for him as a statesman to be celebrating when such a tragedy had befallen the nation.

    “For me to be here celebrating, dancing and enjoying myself, does not speak well of me as a senior citizen of this country.

    “He asked that the cleric should rather engage in prayers,” Rahman said.
