A High Court sitting in Lagos State has granted bail to self-acclaimed relationship expert, Blessing Okoro, known as Blessing CEO, for alleged cyber-bullying.
Blessing CEO was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), on Thursday, over her involvement in Lagos celebrity auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, a.k.a IVD, and his late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna’s case.
She was arraigned on a six-count charge of alleged cyber bullying, libel and for exhibiting uncensored movies.
In a court sitting on Friday, Justice Yelim Bogoro remanded her in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Services, NCoS, till the 30th of May for a hearing of her bail application.
However, during the hearing of the case on Tuesday, her lawyer filed a bail application before Justice Tijjani Ringim of the Federal High Court, where she was granted N10 million bail in the absence of opposition from the prosecution, with two sureties in like sum.
Famous relationship adviser, Blessing Okoro, has been remanded in prison until May 30 for alleged cyber-bullying, libel, and the exhibition of uncensored movies.
This followed her arrest by the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon on Thursday, 30th of March.
During her arraignment, the prosecution counsel, Rotshang Faith Dimka of the Force Headquarters in Abuja, claimed that on October 16, 2022, Blessing intentionally sent messages through her Instagram handle @officialblessingceo to bully, threaten, and harass Folashade Samuels, also known as Mamajazz, the younger sister of the late Bimbo Ogbonna, wife of automobile businessman Ikechukwu Ogbonna, also known as IVD.
The prosecution further alleged that Blessing used her Instagram handle to damage the reputation of Folashade Samuels and the late Bimbo Ogbonna by exposing them to hatred, contempt, and ridicule.
According to the police, some of the messages allegedly sent by Blessing Okoro include; “Let’s ask Mamajazz where her father is??? Their father had exactly the same issue with their mother, Ebele, and he ran away for his dear life. IVD’s crime was that he was not man enough to run.
“The family of late Bimbo is after IVD’’s properties and life. Especially her elder sister Mamajazz. Bimbo and IVD are well-known people in Lagos and it’s not a hidden fact that even in their estate that Bimbo is violent.
“Everybody knows how she breaks a bottle on her husband’s head on a daily .. Bimbo k!lled herself and has always wanted to k!ll herself right from childhood. Evidence loading. All the voice notes and evidence will be on my YouTube and Facebook. Subscribe”
“I will ask Mamajazz, the late Bimbo’s sister few questions…where you in talking terms with your sister before (she) died?”
The court was informed by the police that the defendants had violated Section 24 (2)(a)(1) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act, 2015, Section 375 of the Criminal Code Act, and Section 33 of the NFVCB Act, 2004. Upon hearing the charges, the accused pleaded not guilty.
Justice Yelim Bogoro, who presided over the case, ordered that Blessing Okoro be held in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS) until May 30 when her bail application would be heard.
